I went in the store today to get a large bag from them for the plane ride and the youmg lady at the cashier desk said she it cost .25cents. I showed her my receipt from Monday and she even brought up my account on her terminal and saw that I'm a valued customer and have regular purchases there. My Mom said she would pay the quarter for the bag but I told her no- it's not the quarter I'm upset over- even if the cashier asked me for one penny for the bag I still would decline to pay for it. I spend roughly hundreds of dollars there monthly- and have been for years. it's the principle of it. Sad to say I will never shop there again. The customer service there has never been this way. For only .25cents the store just lost a loyal and valued customer.

I love that downtown San Mateo finally has some retail, and this store has such an adorable selection of baby clothes. All of the items we looked at felt like good quality for the price, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were plenty of reasonably priced options in the store. The woman who owns the store (damn, I'm bad with names!) was lovely as well -- I love it when store owners make it clear that they're available if needed but don't hover or try to push you towards a sale.

I came into Kids Company in San Carlos hoping to find baptismal clothing for my baby, but…read moreunfortunately, the customer service was so unpleasant that we left without buying anything. From the moment we walked in, we felt unwelcome. The salesperson was giving us heavy, lingering stares that made us extremely uncomfortable. At one point, my partner even greeted her politely since she was standing directly in front of him staring (while he was playing with our baby) she didn't respond at all, just kept staring silently. It felt incredibly rude and unprofessional. Things got worse when I was looking at a rack of clothes and the same salesperson started backing into me under the pretense of "putting something away." The whole situation was just bizarre and gave this passive aggressive energy that made it clear we were not wanted in the store. Needless to say, we left immediately and chose not to support a business that treats potential customers this way. My family and I won't be returning here, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a warm or welcoming shopping experience.

If the Stanford shopping centers vision was lifeless store fronts and no one actually shopping then…read morethey achieved it. Owners please take a look around, no one is shopping. An entire year here and I literally see no one buying anything in any of the stores, regardless of the season. It feels very pretentious. Each store, each window has the same exact thing - no color, no life. Each store equally more expensive than the next. I have come to learn that the building owners sought a "vision" and pushed out previous stores here to have what it does now. Each store front pushes mute colors, I walk into a store $600 for the most boring top I have ever seen, and this carries on through each and every store here. Not to mention, a lot of the stores push concerning stereotypes and visions of women's bodies. There's a select few stores I love here, Outerknown (you are awesome) and Aesop, are what keeps me coming back - other than that, it's a sad shopping experience and I actually really enjoy shopping at a lot of malls. Sad, uninspiring. This mall is now pushing sad and concerning shopping and fashion culture. This is unrealistic, false expectation setting. It is deplorable.
