    Mofongo de Chicharrón
    Edwin S.

I've been meaning to pay a visit to this Dominican hole-in-the-wall for a while and finally made it in 2022. As soon as you walk in you're greeted with Bachata music and decadent food smells. I knew I needed to try the mofongo, one of my favorite Caribbean dishes. Mofongo filled with pork. Strong garlic flavor in each bite with a side of more pork, chicharrón equal parts meat and fat with an awesome a jus-like sauce to bring it all together. Wash it all down with a DR staple, Country Club, a must. The wife ordered the Carne Frita with rice and beans. I loved it as much as my meal. The fried beef was seasoned beautifully. The only underwhelming item we had was the order of tostones, not as crispy or salty as we would like. This place is definitely worth checking out and a great place to visit if you're unfamiliar with Dominican cuisine. Can't wait to go back and try something new.

Being from California we don't have many Dominican food ... it's a "hole in the wall" as soon as you walk in you are greeted with good music and that spices smell the food was good my only complain was the chimichurri sauce was salty and the bistec lacked seasoning everything else was delicious

Delicious food, delicious flavors also very inexpensive. Was delicious and forgot to take pictures.

    Mofongo with fried pork

First time eating here and I enjoyed the food! Mofongo was very flavorful, just wish it would have been served with a different sauce like at other places I've eaten mofongo. The sancocho was delicious! Pretty small place. They also have food ready to serve which looked good. Would definitely go back!

Food was subpar. Service was subpar and the ambience wasn't all that. I guess in a pinch you can try it.

Unfortunately, the pork chops were extremely disappointing--they came out rock-hard and completely devoid of seasoning or taste. They genuinely seemed like they were taken straight from the package and dropped into the fryer with zero prep, no marinade, no breading enhancement, nothing. The texture was so tough it was almost inedible, and there was no juiciness or pork flavor to speak of at all. The server was genuinely apologetic and handled the situation with professionalism, which I appreciated. The owner did come over, looked at the plate, said "oh wow," and then comped half the price of the dish. While the discount was a gesture, it felt more like a quick fix than a real effort to make things right--especially since the food was fundamentally flawed from the start. If you're searching for authentic, well-executed Spanish or Latin-inspired food (especially something as straightforward as fried pork chops), this place doesn't deliver. The execution here falls far short of what you'd expect from a restaurant charging for these kinds of dishes. With better attention to seasoning, proper frying technique, and perhaps a bit more care in portion prep, this could be salvageable--but right now, I'd steer clear of the pork chop entrée specifically. Other items on the menu might fare better, but on this visit, the pork chops were a clear miss.

As soon as you enter, staff are quick to take care of you and make you feel at home. Our server Rosi made sure we were well taken care of and treated us like family. We started with their Mojito which was beyond fresh tasting and well balanced in flavor. They had cups prepared on the bar counter as it must be a staple item for them. We also ordered the Cuban Sandwich (full order) and a side of Sweet Plantains. The food was made fresh to order and you could tell from the taste. The Cuban is the best I've experienced with fresh bread, quality meat, and good portions of sauce/cheese. The portion as well was a great size or enjoy when hungry or share. The Sweet Plantains came with about 5-6 pieces. Most guests were also ordering a cuban coffee to enjoy. Overall, this was a great lunch spot! If you want to experience authentic cuban food when in the area, Rumba Cuban Cafe will not disappoint! Tip: Check their hours before going. They are open 10am - 3pm weekdays only.
