Maria and Arlette are excellent hostesses and servers. Our coffee cups are always full with delicious American Coffee. Cafe Azucar gives you great value for your money, not to mention delicious food. The omelet is filled with cut up onions, peppers and delicious ham and topped with queso. We love the fresh toasted buttered Cuban bread on the side. They are now open 7 days a week! If you're looking for a good Cuban place, go here. If you're looking for a quick Cuban place, look elsewhere. The food was delicious and exactly what we expected. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. Make sure to put the hot sauce they offer on the sandwiches. It takes it to a whole other level. The lack of a 5th star comes down to the service speed. The people there are nice enough but the service was quite slow. Th drinks took more than 8 minutes to arrive at the table. The meals came out individually over a 7 minute span which made for an awkward situation as we all tried to be polite and wait to eat until everyone had food. Make sure to stop at the bakery and take a few goodies home. We grabbed some on our way out and can't wait to eat them. read more

Will not return to this place. The beef in the empanadas and in the relleno de papa was acidic or rancid, can't even describe the taste and some bright red meat in some areas. Either it was raw or spoiled . The steak was dry , no onions , no oil and no seasonings at all , you are serving people that pay a high price for your tasteless food . Ordered takeout. And I must say food was awful. My bistec Empanizado looked like a piece of old leather shoe dry and tasteless. The black beans were literally dancing in black water. I'm Cuban and would be embarrassed to serve this to my worst enemy. I have ordered this steak before for pick up at other restaurants with no issues. Tried for the first time tonight via Uber Eats. We ordered a little bit of different things to get an idea. We ordered the bistec de palomilla, boiled yuca, fried yuca, congri, pork, and the tostones rellenos. I loved both forms of yuca and the congri. The mojo sauce is perfect. My son enjoyed the steak. My mom liked the tostones with the ropa vieja. The portion of pork we got was a little dry for our liking. The photos all look amazing on here so maybe it was just an off night. From 1 to 10. I give this place a generous 4. Flavorless food. Service was terrible. The display fridge had several cookies and just a couple of pastries. There's a bar in the back. After dinner we were craving something sweet, so we looked up donuts and desserts in our yelp app. This Cuban restaurant and bakery came up as a close possibility. With a name meaning "sugar", we thought this might be the right place. When we entered, the restaurant was empty, but the two cases of pastries offered a lot of possibilities. All kinds of cookies-- some with different fruits and dulce de leche, flans, puddings, and other desserts. We decided to sit. The lone guy manning the counter delivered everything to our table. We tried their flan -- a little denser than I usually like, needing a tad more caramel syrup; a Napoleon with very flaky pastry and a very sweet sugar icing; and the best of the lot was their rice pudding which was creamy and very cinnamony. The bustello cafecito (small coffee) was very good. I can't speak for the rest of their food, but it's a full service Cuban restaurant in addition to the bakery part. It's our go to coffee stop for work. These days, that's often and super important! They make great croquettes as well and they're incredibly friendly. Absolutely excellent Cuban food here. Homemade soups and a Cuban sandwich that is 100% authentic as well as huge. We have had their chicken noodle as well as ajiaco soup and both were excellent. Just wholesome, fresh, high quality food! We love this restaurant. We ordered the tempura shrimp and mango dipping sauce for an appetizer, the seafood paella, shrimp and fish is creole sauce and the filet mignon with Chimichurri sauce sides were yellow rice, black beans, veggies, plantains. In a place saturated with Cuban joints, this is one of my favorites. My family kept trying to dissuade us from coming here because it was pricier than other places, but seriously, they must've forgotten what prices are like in DC. Not to mention, the decor here is pretty quaint. It's all white, and very clean feeling. Other restaurants were probably cheaper in cost because it's faded plastic tablecloth and styrofoam plates. I felt all of the prices here were completely reasonable, given the amount of food received and the quality. I had ropa vieja with yellow rice, and my husband ordered a media noche. For desert we split a tres leches while my husband enjoyed a cuban coffee. It was heaven. There is a bakery section attached to the restaurant, where you can get other pastries to go as well. My husband and I visited this restaurant the first morning after moving to Cape Coral. We arrived for the coffee & stayed for the food! I am no expert on Cuban food, but I must say this place is DELICIOUS. The staff is very laid-back & friendly, their menu options are diverse, and their coffee is very yummy! My favorite menu item (pictured) is the Azucar Sampler Plate. The sauce is great! They also have an attached bakery where you can purchase all kinds of authentic Cuban sweets. The Worst Service EVER !!! They won't answer the phone. They can't get the order correct even when we tell them in person or on the phone that is if you can get them on the phone. Please eat some place else. They clearly have no idea what customer service is. We have been eating there for the longest time snd you would think that in today's economy as well as pandemic times that they would actually care about keeping their customers happy but they really don't care. I would Recommend to find anyplace else to eat. These people need to close their doors or find née employees or maybe it's the owners that need to rethink how they treat their customers. Authentic Cuban foodie here! I have tried this place one time. I will be trying it again but later rather than sooner. The Cuban sandwich is good. You get a decent portion for the price. I was highly disappointed in the empanadas. I think they were old. The meat was very dry, maybe a two spoon fulls worth of meat, a lot of extra space left in the empanada, the bread was hard and tasted like it had been sitting out for a few hours. The empanadas wee enough to turn me away but the Cuban sandwich justified them. I'm hoping it was a bad food day and that next time will be better. I will be updating my review next time. read more

My family and I revisited AZUCAR it is a Cuban restaurant family owned with new owners . We had breakfast there Monday they were just about the only restaurant open so we decided to try it. They have fresh cuban pastries baked in house and they serve breakfast all day and dinner as well as lunch also. The breakfast was delicious the prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get . On this visit it was 4 of us and our bill was 50 dollars . We all had plenty of food and the food was very tasty this place did not disappoint! So if you are looking to eat great Cuban food try them out ! They also serve an assortment of natural juices . Always great food and service. Try everything especially the paella share with a loved one and still bring some home! Try both seafood and chicken.
