Went there to drink, ended up eating and would have prefered not to. Even got a light indigestion and will explain it at the end of the comment.
This bar seems to be an hot spot for locals. The deco is nice and you have locals enjoying some drinks and appetizers. The waiter was friendly and that's why I am giving it 2 stars.
We gathered to enjoy a drink in order to celebrate a friend achievement and started at 3 people, then 5, then 8 around 20:00. Starting to drink and still waiting for some friends the waiter asked us if we were here to eat because they prioritize people who eat which translates as "If you are not eating please leave" which is normal for Paris but still curious concerning what happened after. Since we were there and wanted to stay together we decided to eat there and stayed.
We ordered 8 burgers and some beers. We need to ask the beers several times.
After a while we were told they could not make 8 normal burgers and that 2 of them would be smaller and if that was okay. Of course the price also would be smaller. 2 girls gladly accepted.
Concerning the service we received two burgers at first then the six others arrived in following 15 minutes which gave plenty of time for the two burgers which arrived arrived first to be cold.
But the fries were good and the burgers even if they were not hot to be ok to eat. When asked for mayo they didn't have any, which is very strange since you only need eggs, oil and salt to make it. We received some BBQ/Brushetta sauce instead. The sauce was ok but I do prefer mayo with my fries. Is it not the point to eat a burger? If you are making a sin make it good. But well, we were here for a friend not for the place.
When it comes to service and the room in general we could feel the waiter was doing his best but it seemed like they were having trouble to maintain the rhythm. They were leaving the door open and when we asked to close it because we were cold they told us they had to maintain it open to avoid smoking the dining room. Many girls did even put their coats back not to freeze. Luckily they closed the kitchen pretty fast and closed the doors. In the dining room you had a trap to go to the basement just 10 cm away from the chair of some of our friends. They went down a couple of times and everytime it was anxiogenic to have to be careful not to move to avoid severe injuries a fall would have caused.
And least but not last when I woke up today I had some light digestive problems which I usually never do. When I shared it with someone who was there yesterday the person told me that apparently the chef was not there yesterday. This explains a lot! I had raw meat and if not well conserved or prepared can be tricky to digest. If the cook is not there don't take risks, just say it.
So all in all I do not recommend this place to eat when the chef is not there. It is not worth nor the time nor the money to be freezing, waiting for food which ends-up cold due to the gap in between the first plate and the last, sitting next to a dangerous open trap and end up with some digestive issues. (And no Mayo!)
If they were in damage control they should not have asked us if we were going to eat there or leave and honestly say the chef is not there and close the kitchen. We would have had some drinks and eaten somewhere else. You have so many places in Paris that if you do not come here you will not lose much.
I hope they manage this chef situation because the place has potential. read more
