Each month they have a featured beer to try out. The bar is large and spacious, and is usually always full of groups having drinks - except for Saturday's lol. Why? Cuz there's no happy hour. Come on guys, how do you not have even just one hour of happy hour on Saturday? Speaking of HH, it's from 7-9pm every day except sat. Pints are around 7-8€ outside HH.

It was mostly crowded with students and young professionals. You could hardly find people above the age of 40. Needless to say, the choice of beers is great - which is also the Bar's unique selling point. Although a bit pricey, it is a great pleasure to drink yourself through the wide variety of mostly Belgian style beers (but beware the high percentage of alcohol!). I paid about 5-8€ per bottle, depending on what beer I choose. Like almost any other place in Metz, Les Berthom closed almost exactly at 2 a.m., which for me is much too early. However this is nothing which I could hold against them. The service and waiters are great and the cozy, familiar yet open vibe make it a really nice place to have a few. If you happen to pay a visit to Metz, check this bar out!

The interior is one of a traditional German village eating establishment, but being located close to an American base, it make concessions such a menu with pictures and English to make it easier to order. The "Stammtisch" (German for "regulars' table) is not a table, but a section of bar. Great traditional fare with accompanying beer or wine. I dined on the traditional schnitzel and it did not disappoint as it was accompanied by a great local beer. Keep room for dessert and some schnapps to help with the digestion. NOTE: it is a smallish establishment so you need to make reservations to dine, it is well worth the effort to make a reservation and dine. Guten appetite!

So take a butcher who know hows how to cook and how to respect the cut of meat, add a healthy dose of love of food and Bavarian/German cuisine, and you have a quaint little restaurant near Ramstein AFB/Landstuhl. If you are within driving distance, don't miss this gem! I had the "Garlic Marinaded Pork Ribeye" and selected the pan fried potatoes. OMG OMG OMG ... meat cut thin so two cuts served... the garlic was there front and center but NOT overpowering in any way. A bit of herbed butter, roasted garlic cloves that melt in your mouth, and these fantastically flavored potatoes that are just divine. All served with a generous side of a parsley and ?? Sour cream to die for. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Bring cash, no plastic. I wonder if I can get a free ticket change if I tell Delta I'm "dying"... they just don't need to know I'm dying to go back...

Inside the place reminds me of a traditional English or German pub - lots of dark wooden tables and chairs as well as lots of people in to enjoy a beer or some nibbles Mom had a Sander (Pike) Fish Fillet w/ veggies - flaky & moist, Mom said that fish was a winner. Daddy had some kind of "Pot De Feu which was like an American Pot Roast & he said it was absolutely superb w/ its tender beef, veggies, & potatoes all served in a soup-like broth The Mr & I had the Risotto - theirs was made w/ Barley & had roasted red peppers & zucchini. I really liked the flavor of the soft, pearls of barley & the roasted veggies gave it a wonderful smoky flavor Creme Brûlée all around for dessert - this as among the best we've ever had - everyone agreed that the dense, creamy vanilla pudding was outstanding & it was served in a large shallow bowl to allow for tons of burnt sugar. Brilliant! Paired w/ their only choice of Congnac & this was like a dessert heaven What a fantastic start to a wonderful vacation - we would highly recommend this restaurant for a divine meal!

We decided to have lunch after strolling the city at the end of our holidays and I saw the "Boudin Noir" (aka Black Pudding) on the menu and begged my family to enjoy our meal here - It was no mistake at all. We tool a table outside and where bothered a little by some hungry wasps, but we know how to live with them and so it was not much of a hassle. The food was delicious, my kids went for the Piccata Milanese (escalope or Schnitzel called as well) and my wife had the Dibbelabbes one of Saarlands specialities. I tried all plates and was really surprised, a very rich meal, but not drowned in grease, but every single one with its own fine taste that made my day. The dressing for the salad was based on a French mustard sauce, but had an additional flavor added that I didn't decipher completely, but it contained sesame and reminded a bit of Asian fusion kitchen and was very nice as well. Needles to say that the service of the host was very good, she explained everything without being arrogant or unfriendly and kept an eye on the customers wishes, we changed the side orders for the kids without any problem. The prices were reasonable and we didn't wait much for the orders. An absolute recommendation for Saarbrücken.
