The high sand cliffs are beautiful backdrops to the amazing blue ocean. Colored umbrellas and bikinis scattered the beach. The California vibe is here! There is a small memorial idolizing local surfers who perished doing what they loved, surfing. A set of public restrooms is available. Parking and admission is free if you can find parking. Get there early, with the local surfers. No dogs allowed on the beach during peak beach hours.

Parking is difficult on weekends, but if you circle around a few times, you can get a parking spot next to the boardwalk and lifeguard tower areas. You may also pull up and unload your beach items, then tug them over the boardwalk to the beach. The lifeguards did a lot of warnings because the current was very strong near the pier most of the month of August. We also like how the SDPD rode through to make sure that everyone was behaving on the beach. There were several groups of beachgoers that were extremely drunk and high, but everybody seemed to behave themselves. Overall, PB is always a great experience for us.

This location is great also because it has the most active lifeguards of all of the beaches. They patrol and guard the waters well. I have also seen them interact professionally with beach goers. There is a surfer's side on the right and a swimmer's side on the left when you walk down the ramp. The checkered flag marks the middle walkway to each side. There is a beach shower at the base of the ramp for washing off the salty water after having fun in it. There are many eateries, restaurants, grocery stores, apparel stores, and dessert places nearby within walking distance. The area is super lively and there are great vibes.

It was an 80 degree day and a Saturday, so was packed, but it still wasn't an issue to find ourselves a spot. It was hard to find a group that wasn't a family, which we welcomed seeing because we brought our 2 y/o with us. This beach is much more family friendly than some of the other area beaches. There's a paved ramp next to the bathrooms to walk down to the beach on, which was a nice surprise because we had the stroller and first thought we'd have to walk down some super steep steps. At the bottom of the ramp, they have 2 working showers to get the sand off. There were plenty of surfers and wake boarders here, but the waves were minimal, so it was mostly just a bunch of swimmers. This was our toddler's first time at the beach as a walker and he quickly warmed up it it and just wanted to sit in the low waves and slap at the water lol.

I truly enjoyed strolling along the coastline and taking in the beauty of Windansea Beach. While sitting on a bench, I had the pleasure of meeting a lovely couple, and we struck up a wonderful conversation. We all shared the same feeling -- this beach has something truly special about it. It's the kind of place that creates a connection, not just with nature, but also with the people who appreciate its unique charm. Unlike many traditional sandy beaches, Windansea's rocky shoreline gives it a unique character. Walking along the coast, watching waves crash against the rocks, and seeing surfers embrace the powerful ocean made the experience unforgettable. I've visited countless beaches around the world, and Windansea Beach easily ranks among my top 10 favorites. From the moment I arrived, I could feel a different kind of energy.
