Definitely a great experience on my vacation I never thought I would find a place with super good Mexican food but I found LA ISLA I am amazed at the great experience I had in this place not only for the quality and taste of the food but also for the great service from the waiters since you enter the restaurant, they have a great variety of delicious drinks and food not even in California and I found places like this I recommend it to everyone who is looking for a good Mexican restaurant in Sioux City, in a few words I can summarize in, delicious , Friendly staff, good prices, and professionalism. You will not be dissatisfied, on the contrary, you will leave this place very happy, well at least I and my family had a great experience in this place.

Prior to this I made a review on a restaurant that I thought was the same company. There is a restaurant in Omaha with the same name and isn't affiliated in anyway. Today my husband and I stopped and ate at the bar. The service we received was amazing. We asked about the ingredients and the drinks and our server was so well informed. It was nice. Everyone that we seen come in was also very well attended to. Something that I like to see even it isn't us directly. Totally recommend this spot! The bar is and has a great selection! You have to try the cantarito!!

One word: Wow! I was truly blown away by this place. I had the rellano. 3 people could have eaten it. The flavor was on point, and the spice level perfect. It came with some smoky tasting rice, iceberg lettuce salad, and French fries. I don't quite get the reason for the fries? I ate about 3/4 of one rellano, and boxed the rest. It really is delicious!

Amazing food and unique drinks. Friendly service. Great for kids too. Poblano peppers awesome! Combo kit was perfect for our 4 kids, age 6-9. Very authentic! We'll be back the next time we pass through Sioux City. Thanks for a fun night!! 8 months later... Our second trip to Sioux City and we couldn't wait to come back to La Isla. Tamarind margaritas are amazing, seafood dishes are so unique and portion sizes are outrageous! Wish we had a place like this in Minneapolis. La Isla

I'm a travel nurse from TX and since I've moved here, I've been very disappointed in the options of Mexican food here. This place right here redeemed it. The pick up was very quick and pleasant and the food was prepared faster than expected. The only thing I could change is the serving size of the rice to match the rest of the meal. Aside from that, great food and I'll definitely come back.

Food and drinks are really good! Lots of different things to choose from and the micheladas are bomb! Worth checking out, could use some updating and cleaning but service is great and everyone is super nice :)

La Isla offers really great seafood for the Sioux City area. It is fresh and authentic. And you cannot beat the sizable portions. Plus, the owners are friendly and helpful. Update: Been there many times since the original review. Keeps getting better.

A friend of mine and I went to La Isla for lunch. I was a little bit skeptical of the promise of a Mexican restaurant that specializes in seafood. Boy was I surprised. We started off with the Shrimp Empanadas. The smaller order came with 4 decently sized empanadas. I would wager that they were homemade and fried perfectly. The filling was tasty with a little bit of spice. The shrimp empanadas were also served with a spicy mayo sauce. The sauce complimented the empanadas very well. For the main dish, I ordered the seafood paella. Per the waiters suggestion, I ordered the small size. It was only like $17 so I did not have very high expectations. After eating our appetizer, they brought out my seafood paella dish. This wasn't a small dish, it was a platter. The portion of the paella was huge and the seafood in it was delicious. I still can't believe they put that much seafood in it. My paella had crab legs, mussels, clams, peeled shrimp, unpeeled shrimp, scallops, and octopus. The paella was a little bit spicier then I thought it would be, but next time I will just ask for it with a bit less spice. I ate as much of this seafood smorgasbord as I could, but I could not finish the whole dish. I will definitely be back again trying other things on the menu.

This place is delicious. I ordered the stuffed pineapple, the portion was more than generous. The waitress was attentive and kind. Just an over the road truck driver passing through, and I'm glad I stopped in. Would revisit in the future

My wife and I went to La Isla for dinner last night. This is now one of our new favorite restaraunts. The food was delicious and the portions were very very generous. We had the Pina Rellena (Pineapple stuffed with Shrimp) and the Ranch style Shrimp. On top of that the complimentary Ceviche they serve was extremely tasty. When we first looked at the menu we thought that everything looked pricey. However when we received our food we understood why. The portions were huge. We ordered 2 entrees and it was enough food for 4 people. The server we had was one of the best I have ever had. She was extremely friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable on the menu. We would definitely go back to La Isla many more times to try out all the seafood on the menu.

I can't honestly not give this place five stars. Took dad or for Father's Day and was not disappointed. First off the ambience was great. Latin American seafood made perfectly. The best part is you almost forget your in. South Sioux City. Prices where very appropriate and servings sizes where huge. I really enjoyed the starter of chips and homemade ceviche. We chose and appetizer but after getting our meals it was not needed. Food came quick and service was friendly. Spice level was very appropriate for the style and food was so flavorful. We both left happy and full with a box of leftovers each.

March 2027 Sioux City, Iowa…read more Very nice interior. Large bar in the front center that seemed to be popular with guests. A few tables wrapped around the bar. We took a table in the back of the restaurant. Simple table with black cloth napkins. No candle , no flower, just a small salt and pepper set with a few menus. The menu offers a variety from expensive seafood and steaks to sandwiches. I chose the seafood Mac and cheese. My husband had the pork chop with sweet potatoes and a side of grilled cauliflower. The other couple ordered Mediterranean pasta with shrimp instead of chicken which came with a slice of focaccia bread. His wife had the chicken margherita sandwich which came with sweet potato waffle fries. My husband said the pork chop was dry and overcooked. My seafood pasta was served warm. It looked like it sat under the heat lamp while other food was prepared. Oddly enough, my meal did not come with any bread. But the other pasta dish had focaccia bread and even the kids meal that had mac & cheese had a big chunk of bread as well. Was it an oversight? Also missing from my dish was the Panko crumbs that were to top the dish. None to be found! My pasta had really great flavor. A complaint is that every third bite I was pulling a shell out of my mouth. It's good to know that the seafood is fresh, but I should not have to bite around the shell of the seafood. Also, because it was served warm, it made it less than enjoyable. The Mediterranean pasta I was told was delicious and it looked so. A lot of sauce as well. The chicken sandwich was quite large. Although it was tough and not tasty. It came with a side of sweet potato fries, which came out after we started our meal. It was forgotten the first time around. Overall, I would give the ambience an eight. Service was good and it deserves a seven. The food however, which I think is very important when you go to dinner, would get a solid five. I think the flavor was good, but again, because the food was served cold, and the pork chop was overcooked. I would most definitely take points off.

The salad was very fresh and the dressing was a really light Italian that was very complementary to the greens and not overwhelming at all. When the lasagna came, I initially thought wow that's a lot of cheese, but it really was not an overwhelming amount. And the taste of the sauce as well as the meat in the lasagna was fantastic. I don't know what I expected, quite possibly the same generic type of lasagna you get at most places, but this was far from it. Very different than many other lasagnas and tasted as if a family member made it with an old secret family recipe. The restaurant is very clean and classy. My server was very polite and attentive, but not overwhelming. I didn't get any bread, which was a bit of a disappointment, not because I need bread in the least, but I do enjoy trying different breads at different restaurants.
