Service, 1/5. 20 minutes waiting to order and by then we had to go up to the counter and order to go! Waste of time but at least it may be good. Food 1/5. NOOOOOPE!! This is good stuff. Beans are nicely cooked with cheese topping, rice there and ready is u get too hot an order. My chicken taco was perfect with a little guac or salsa on it. My tostada was too big for just me. 1 is plenty. The real surprise was that cheese enchilada, 2 cheeses with smooth red sauce. So no meat sauce was a sad thing. The only bad thing is they don't do free refills on your drink, however, that's not a major deal if you know that when you order. Portions and food are good, and the prices aren't too high. We've been dining here for years when we are in town. Our experience today left us a little disappointed. The food was okay but a bit less than we remembered it. Perhaps the pandemic has impacted the restaurant enough to cut back on some things we were expecting. I had "Pollo Diablo" - lots of Diablo, not much Pollo. Mostly onion and sauce with a fair portion of mushrooms but little meat. There was a noticeable lack of seafood from the menu that we remembered - basically all that was offered at lunch is shrimp. Before we had choices of local fish prepared in traditional Mexican sauces. More seafood may be available at dinner. We visited the restaurant just after opening at 11:00, and the small staff were still preparing tables etc. Service was prompt, but considering we were the only diners, that might not always be the case. We may give this restaurant one more try for dinner, but if they are unable to return to the menu they offered pre-pandemic, there is really no reason to seek them out. Traditional Mexican cuisine is widely available with better atmosphere elsewhere. read more

We came here based on other reviews. The food was hot and delicious. The shredded beef flautas were very tender and tasted great. The service was also on point. My water glass never ran empty and we were checked on throughout the meal. I did knock one star as the restaurant is small and the parking very limited. I have liked this place in the past. But yesterday I found they had changed. I never thought tacos could be messed up but they did it. The chicken inside the tacos was watery and had not been drained, it did not have a flavor which surprised me. Then the second taco was soggy and pliable from the watery chicken. I never thought this would happen. After eating what I could I ended feeling unwell and got sick. What happened to this place? It used to be so good. read more

Some really good components, salsas, chips, meats for the dishes but the beans and sauces were not bad but could be better to put this place over the top. It is a little place right next to Ross. The service is good and the bathrooms are clean. They sell Coronas which is always a plus for me. I ordered the #3 combo enchilada shredded beef and tamale. Both were smothered in cheese but still a little dry. The flavoring is good. We also ordered the chili verde burrito. Large serving. The sauce was very thin for the big chunks of pork. The rice was a little hard, (maybe a day old) but still good tasting. The beans were delicious! I would order a bean burrito if I go back. They had a distinct flavor that was great. The chips were not the best and did not taste fresh. The salsa was average and the coleslaw they bring out with the salsa tastes like the carrot juice mix and is tasty. The chicken taquitos were thick and crispy. We had to order a side of guacamole and had to add salt but I would order them again. Now the cheese enchilada and chili relleno was the best. Melted cheese, perfect spice, as soon as I cut into the chili relleno the cheese just melted out. Absolutely delicious. I would go back. We stopped here halfway through a 5 hour road trip up to Newport. We were craving Mexican and this popped up on Yelp. The most important thing to us was outdoor seating, which they had. Picnic tables in front of the restaurant reassured us as we hadn't done a sit down dinner at a restaurant since March! The waiters and waitresses were all wearing masks and gloves, and there was hand sanitizer and a plexiglass shield in front of the counter. The food was great, huge portions for lunch at only ~7.25 (price has gone up a bit since the last menu photos were posted). I've included what I had, which was the #9, an enchilada and bean tostada with beans and rice. Really good, classic and fulfilling Mexican food, not spicy (which I like!) so if you're looking for some more spice you can put the salsa from the chips in it, or use some hot sauce. Not pictured, but we also had the #8 which is an enchilada and tamale. The tamale was just okay, if we were ever back again we'd probably get something else. The food cane out piping hot so we felt safe in that sense. Overall, very good bang for your buck, delicious and safe, would recommend! read more
