But on the weekends - oh my goodness - some of the best sopes, menudo, quesadillas, etc. you have ever tasted! My first time tasting sopes was here at La Pasadita - fried rounds of corn masa topped with a thin layer of refried beans, the meat of your choice (shredded chicken or carne asada for me), fresh lettuce, a slice of fresh tomato, a generous and luscious slice of fresh avocado, topped with a generous mound of queso fresco. Talk about delicious! The husband says this is a snack but, after three of these, I'm ready to crawl somewhere in a fetal position to sleep it off! The quesadilla is a must - again, carne asada is my favorite - a generous helping of meat, folded in a grilled flour tortilla with a delicious, salty cheese - heaven! Cut into three generous triangles, it's more than enough to share. My husband has nothing but praises for the menudo. For those who don't know, menudo is a spicy soup, made with tripe, hominy, and sometimes cows foot. I haven't tried their's yet. Menudo is something that I can take it or leave it. I've had some really excellent menudo, and I've had some menudo that was just meh. Like chitterlings, or any other food that some people frown on (more for the rest of us) you have to trust that the person who cooks it take their time to clean and cook it properly. My husband loves La Pasadita's menudo - so much that he bought two - one for his breakfast, and one later for a snack. That really says a lot, so next time I will ask him to get one for me. A generous 32 ounce cup is about $9. This place really needs to be put on the map. The selfish part of me wants to keep it to myself, but the world (or Garden City and surrounding parts) needs to check it out - you won't be disappointed.

You could easily miss this hidden gem, tucked away on the corner beside a gas station. There are dine-in options, but most people seemed to be taking their food to go. It's the best quick to go option I've seen. They had my order ready in no time. I ordered an assortment of tacos: carne asada, birria, and fish tacos, plus a side of guacamole and chips. To top it all off, I added their homemade cheesecake casera with strawberry purée... and of course, a large agua de jamaica con limonada. The staff were some of the friendliest I've experienced in the area--must be because they're from Cali lol. My only suggestion would be to leave the sauces off the tacos for to-go orders, or explain that "all the way" means everything on them. By the time I got back to my hotel, the sauce had soaked through the tacos, so I missed that classic one-hand taco experience. Also... definitely add extra limes. Thankfully, those chips came to the rescue, and the flavors absolutely did not disappoint. Bottom line: it really did hit close to home.
