The restaurant is a bit tucked away among some other restaurants on the far side of the beautiful fountain that sits on the main street of town. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and both I believe are smoker-friendly.

We were tired and since it looked like a French version of Denny's, we thought a quick bite of comfort food is all we'd need before bed. I wish we'd gotten a taxi into town and went to a local café. Very limited menu. When you order anything, you need to know they serve you a "courtesy" salad. I'm not sure why. It's a bowl of lettuce and a sauce. it confused some patrons who ordered a deluxe salad and confused me as to why would you serve something so sad. No soup. I asked for a grilled cheese. (It's not on the menu but they have bread, butter, cheese, and a grill but alas, NO was the answer.) We ended up splitting a hot dog, sharing a "deluxe" berry salad void of berries, and got a baked potato. The baked potato was the best thing we ate there. Dismal service. I speak ok French, so the language barrier wasn't the problem. The wait staff lacked experience and common sense. If you want some mediocre wine, coffee, or a soft drink... this is your place. If you want anything else; opt for the 45 minute walk or 10 minute taxi ride into town.

We had oysters and tuna tartare to start with - both were god, but lacked some of the finer details. The tuna tartare lacked seasoning, and the oysters were not loosened (if that is the correct term), which is no tradgedy, but still somewhat vexing. The main courses we had - tuna steak and tiger prawns with tomato and olive oil sauce and mashed potatoes with ginger, were excellent, especially the prawns. For dessert, we had the lemon tart and the goat cheese ice cream with myrte gel - thw latter was truly a revellation. Service was attentive, as you would expect from this kind of upscale place, but some of the waiters could do with a course in serving wines. At the prices they have, L'Auberge du Pecheur needs to get the details right.
