We walked the streets near the museums for about an hour because we couldn't remember where it was, but it was worth the trek when we finally found it. The guy working there was extremely helpful in helping us choose some local IPA's. They also carry a lot of our favorite beers from Amsterdam, so I was super excited about that. They sell beer from Louisville Kentucky's Against the Grain Brewing that I can't even get where I live! All those Spaniards out there need to check that brewery out! One suggestion: Start stocking Crew Republic beer from Germany. It's fantastic!

The lady working spoke broken English (which was great!) and gave us plenty of suggestions. I only wish we had a bigger suitcase to bring more home! In Madrid, I found a guided Vermouth tasting (through Airbnb Experiences) at Madrid & Darracot. It's priced at 20 Euro per person (Fridays and Saturdays) and also available for booking directly through their website. We initially had a tough time finding the shop as it had recently moved locations just up the street, but once we did we had a great time! Our guide was Irish (if I recall) and Spanish, so he was able to do the tasting in English, but also answer questions from my parents in Spanish. He took us through four very distinct Vermouths and helped us get an understanding of the importance of this drink in the country. It was informative, fun, and we got recommendations for the rest of our stay. We of course grabbed a couple of bottles for the evening and we're really impressed by not only their wine and vermouth collection, but also their spirits (including bourbon). Overall, I would highly recommend booking a tasting while in Madrid!

My wife is gluten-free, and they did a small HOT gluten free loaf for her that she said was the best she's had in a long time. I also had a small plate of meatballs, and they were amazing. Interesting, a Scottish beer in Spain. I was used to seeing typical beers or those associated with Spanish culture. I walked inside and immediately noticed the great organized shelving and the colorful labels. They had beers from all over the world. There was Coopers from Australia, Left Hand Brewery from Colorado (go CO!), Flying Dog from the East Coast, great bitter beer from England, a vast collection of Belgian ales, local beers and ciders. The staff is very helpful and passionate about beer. They will gladly answer your questions. They have, in my opinion, great prices for the beers too. I don't know what people regularly pay for beer, but considering these are all imports, I was impressed with the prices. I'm looking forward to my next beer when I can show up with a vast worldwide collection of great beer.
