Well, I was actually able to visit two while in Spain. YOLO. Came in the Fabrica Maravillas after spotting it on Yelp - since it was a quick (relatively) walk from our hotel. I was on a mission to connect with my good bud - Mr. Yelp Madrid, Lolo R - and this was where we decided to meet up to have a beer and catch up. Super friendly bartender that explained each beer for us and recommended the one I went with - The Dark Ale. It was fantastic. Sweet notes, perfectly carbonated and not too heavy. Their glasses are in 3 sizes - small, medium, large. The Medium is a good size as it is. 2 mediums and a small was only 10€. I also got a bottle that was €4 (50cl). It was hoppy and went PERFECT with a fried seafood plate I had it with when I got back home. Small tap room - as are all places in Spain, but they are brewing up some good stuff! Check them out! Side note - Shout out to the guy in there that was also from Fort Lauderdale and overheard me talking and immediately hollered out "FUNKY BUDDHA!" haha super nice guy, hope you find this review dude. Nachos were baked - warm and crispy and hearty, with great mix of chicken, guac, tomatoes and red onion - nothing like the blob of crap you often get back in the states. The Pollo negro à la stout was incredibly flavorful, with a dark beer sauce to pour over it. Our server, Alec, was incredibly friendly. My wife enjoyed exercising her Spanish and talking beer with him, and he helped us pick some bottles to go. The guy working there was extremely helpful in helping us choose some local IPA's. They also carry a lot of our favorite beers from Amsterdam, so I was super excited about that. They sell beer from Louisville Kentucky's Against the Grain Brewing that I can't even get where I live! All those Spaniards out there need to check that brewery out! One suggestion: Start stocking Crew Republic beer from Germany. It's fantastic!

Interesting, a Scottish beer in Spain. I was used to seeing typical beers or those associated with Spanish culture. I walked inside and immediately noticed the great organized shelving and the colorful labels. They had beers from all over the world. There was Coopers from Australia, Left Hand Brewery from Colorado (go CO!), Flying Dog from the East Coast, great bitter beer from England, a vast collection of Belgian ales, local beers and ciders. The staff is very helpful and passionate about beer. They will gladly answer your questions. They have, in my opinion, great prices for the beers too. I don't know what people regularly pay for beer, but considering these are all imports, I was impressed with the prices. I'm looking forward to my next beer when I can show up with a vast worldwide collection of great beer.

A small casa on Calle de Leon somewhat away from the Puerta del Sol. Plus, this shopfront is small and not particularly descript so you might walk right by it if you were not searching for it. However, if you know better, you will find a reason to pause, duck in, and take a break! There are small tables within to eat there but there is only 1 at the shop front window alcove. If you time it right, you can grab this table and stuff your pie hole with local sausages, cured meats, and Spanish wine, beer or Vermouth while watching Madridian life pass you by. There may not be a better way to ruin what could have been an otherwise productive day! The menu is substantial but is largely made up of combinations of the various cured meats and cheeses that the shop is known for. Unlike spots that promote only Iberian ham and Manchego cheese, Casa González has all manner of meats and cheeses so it is a fantastic spot to go to for variety within this genre. I think that only strict vegans will be angered by what is on offer here. I recommend Casa Gonzalez for a meat and cheese orgy if you are in the area. They have been doing this since 1931 so you know that they have a winning formula.
