I tried going for several months and literally every single time I went in no matter what time of day this older man would go up to random people trying to start political debates and conversations about "illegals" on Long Island. I go in the am. The gym is always very clean and the classes r good also. The locker room and bathrooms are clean. I haven't used the pool, but the classes seem very popular. There is also a hot tub and sauna.. Brian and Michelle are very friendly and helpful. I had a problem once and they both were eager to help. There is a lot of older people just taking up space which can get annoying if you're waiting for a machine, but what can I do. Not worth whatever they're charging per month, not for this one at least. Dirty, disorganized and every appliance in the men's restroom is broken/destroyed/not filled. Door handles, locks, soap dispensers, and two of the doors were practically falling off when I moved them. My younger brother went to LA Fitness tonight in Lindenhurst and put his bag in a locker with a lock. When he went to his locker to get his bag his lock was cut off and all of his money was stolen. Other locks were broken too. When he went to the front desk the only thing the girl had to say was "oh that happened last week as well" and did not offer any support or help. My brother filed a police report but not much can be done. I just wanted to share this for anyone who has LA Fitness memberships because it seems to be an ongoing issue that they are not trying to resolve. My brother is devastated. read more

Nice big gym overall, one of the best LA's. Mostly clean, good workout machines, lot of cardio machines. Nice sauna, basketball court, pool, and to top it off a smoothie cafe inside the gym which is nice. But the dumbbells are a MESS, employees never rerack them. What a dump...(Bay Shore) So many machines are dirty and ripped or "scheduled for service". No one ever wipes off anything. The other day I saw the whirlpool while it was closed without bubbles and the bottom was absolutely disgusting .I had been in there but I will never go again. Lifeguards sit looking at their phone the entire time. The bathroom smells like crap (shit) all the time! Showers are absolutely disgusting...Then after being told my membership covered racquetball, and spending over $300 on equipment, I was told I could not play under my membership. I had checked with them twice before I bought the equipment which I have no use for now. Then I was treated rudely (after multiple phone calls without a response ) when I questioned their reasons. I moved to the Y, great service, great facility, definitely worth a very few extra dollars. No racquetball (so I WASTED $325 thanks to LA Fitness) But they do have pickleball, basketball and volleyball.I would NEVER recommend LA Fitness to ANYONE!!!! And if you go , don't trust the lies they tell you when you're signing up!!!!! Actually blown away that they have not been shut down by the board of health...... read more

Seems that every time I'm at the gym there's something broken or missing. Today all the pins for the machines were missing. When asked they're response was they were all stolen, they were on order but won't be here till the following week. I don't understand how a huge company like LA Fitness can't order them for next day air delivery. So remembers can't workout on the machines till the pins arrive next week. The other issue is the women's locker room smells like a wet mop, just makes you wonder how badly this place is managed. read more

I just want to say the customer service at this gym is outstanding. I'm a San Diego resident just in town visiting my family. Shane Curti, the team you have working there is phenomenal. Also, big plus make sure to check out the body builder protein shake. I was able to get everything that I normally add (amino acid, multivitamins, creatine, whey protein, and glutamine) like I do back home. It's freaky delicious. read more

I walk in and I notice that this has a completely different look to it. Not sure if theyre still renovating more? But they definitely updated. They have Astroturf in the middle of the gym where you can workout, they have tires you can flip over. It's pretty cool and different. It's the first time I've ever seen that in any LA gym. They do have a sauna which was a decent size. Their locker room/bathroom isn't updated, like newer ones I've seen. They do have a smoothie bar as well, which is a positive because some of them don't. Very friendly staff! The place is neat and the pool is clean!(bonus) the sauna room os by far the cleanest that I've been to in quite some time. I like that there is a great smoothie bar with people who know what they're making. They know know just what you need to either replenish your body or start your workout correctly! I am a senior citizen and NOT a Silver Sneakers member. I only swim laps at this pool and recently noticed problems with the pool and locker room/showers since they have water aerobics classes. I tried the classes but my knees can't handle the jogging, jumping and other exercises in the routines. They have great instructors but it gets too crowded. The water gets very cloudy and they sometimes don't have a lifeguard. Any complaints fall on deaf ears. I now do not use the pool on days they have these classes. This place is not run with any care for its members. I live so close that I just don't want to travel to swim elsewhere so I put up with the down days. I do get my own lane to swim and gave it an extra star for this but this is probably the dirtiest pool I have used in my life. read more

This establishment needs a reboot of workers on top of machines always needing repairs, pins missing, equipment missing etc... After my wife and I checked in for our workout. An old woman who works there came looking for my wife into the locker room and asked her if she was the person she thought. After my wife said yes she said pay your bill or leave. I didn't know it was LA fitness policy to follow your customers into the locker room and harass them. We have been paying customers for 2 years. Our accounts are linked together and come out of the same account. So if my account is okay how is that hers is not? Anyway after an argument and this worker cursing at my wife, we got to speak to Rich the manager. He said yes it is policy for LA fitness workers to follow you into a locker room and ask you to leave if your bill isn't paid. My question is isn't the worker supposed to be seated at the front checking memberships as they come in so something like this doesn't happen? It seems like she didn't do her job and then proceeded to harass a customer. Don't buy a membership to this gym. You will not be treated with respect and god forbid you owe money. There's a better way to go about this and apparently the current people who work there don't have a clue. read more

From the outside it looks nice, but the inside is a COMPLETE disappointment. The management does not care at all about keeping the gym nice. The weights are always a mess, the cleaning women just walk around and stare at you, they barely clean. The sinks in the women's bathroom literally have mold growing on the faucet top and the soap dispenser for one of the sinks has not had soap refilled in it in over 3 months. The broken machines do not get fixed, they just get a sign put on saying that it will get fixed, but it never actually does. The equipment is also always dirty, none of the workers care to walk around and fix something if it is out of place. read more

I left that area recently. But I specifically want to mention that the management team and personally Operational Manager Rich is awesome in that facility. He helped me a lot with the subscription transfer. With all the bureaucracy and "shallow water" during leaving one state and keeping my subscription active in Texas. And overall the gym is nice. I see a lot of complaints, but I personally did not see any problems with cleanliness or dirt being everywhere. They polish everything every day. The swimming pool is being cleaned recently after closing it for a couple of weeks. So I am totally happy with the level of service and quality of work from the Management Team. One thing about this gym that really grinds my gears, is that all of the soap dispensers are extremely watered down. It feels like pure water and doesn't even suds up. How am I supposed to wash the MRSA off my hands??? I'd say 4/10 times you use the restroom there will be paper towels available. Woke up at 6:45 to get to one of most expensive gyms on the Island, and there are about 25 gym members standing outside until almost 8:40. Unfortunately the gyms supposed to open at 8:00. This is the second time this has happened in as many weeks. Its a GYM, there are 3 things they need to do.. 1) OPEN ON TIME. 2) Be kept clean. 3) Make sure the equipment works... These are not difficult things to do with the prices they charge, but based on the reviews here and on Google, this location just doesnt care... Im sure nothing will be done, no apologies or consessions made to the patrons that keep them in buisness. Blink, Golds, NYSC (another LI gym with a sauna), all other more affordable options... I was looking for a new gym. After a phone call with LA fitness, I'm still looking! The phone call was so terrible that I passed without seeing the place in person. Based on the other reviews, it seems as though I wouldn't have been impressed had I dropped by the facility. I called the gym to inquire about trying out the club for a couple of days before committing to a membership --trying before buying is always a smart idea. I was transferred to the sales manager. Here is how the conversation went... Me: Hi, I'm looking to join a new gym, and I want to know if you guys have a trial pass. Manager: Well, you can make an appointment with me, and I can show you are around and talk to you about memberships. Me: Well, I'd like to come down and try the gym out. I'm looking at several gyms in the area. Manager: There are many gyms in the area (he named several), but if you want the best gym, then you'll come to LA Fitness. Me: OK. As I said, I'm shopping around right now. Do you do trial periods so I can test out a membership? Manager: How about we make an appointment? Me: Thanks, but I'm going to go with another gym because you still haven't answered my very simple question. Although I would have made an appointment, he was trying to corner me into a membership. He seemed like an overbearing, not-so-capable salesman. I want to feel comfortable where I work out, and his inability to answer my very simple question was the complete opposite of "comfort." His response should have been, "Yes. We have a trial where you can use the gym for X number of days. Come down in your workout gear. I'll show you around.
