La planche :D
Cameron M.

This place is the first bar in Paris to offer a "purely" micro brewery focused selection (no Heineken, no 1664, no Kro). 22 beers on tap, none of them mainstream... It's a pretty classy place, if a little cramped, and the charcuterie is to die for :D I love the rillettes de canard... The ceilings are pretty low and it gets packed later in the week so going there to "prendre un verre" with a friend can easily becomes a real lively event - and you will end up leaving WAY later than you planned (and perhaps a little poorer than you planned too). The prices are extremely reasonable given the quality of the beer and the excellent service from the 4 owners, three of whom are often the ones serving you behind the bar. They can really walk you through what they have on tap and give you a great recommendation of what to try next. They have a good selection of French micro brews and they can get amazing things on tap like Cantillon. Plus they have a good bottle selection. I tried a delightfully hoppy and flavorful beer that was only 2.5% alcohol! The Express de Lyon will still always be my favorite bar in Paris, but this place is awesome.

Lots of great local and international beer on tap
Brian J.

Unique to Paris but hopefully on the rise, this off-the-beaten path bar specializes in beer awesomeness. The chalk menu on the wall boasts up-and-coming brewers from France as well as new international stars. Probably best to go for half-pints here to sample the variety and not too get too drunk as some of the beers top 10%. I enjoyed the Zinnebir (De le Senee brewery), Page 24 Blonde (St Germain), and the interesting Saison des Amours beer (Garrigues.) To top it off, there was four-piece jazz band in house tastefully covering French classic by Django Reinhardt and the like really giving a movie-like ambiance to the place. Across the street is the fledging restaurant of the same name where you can have gourmet scallops, fish, bird, and mushroom dishes all paired with beer. Some of the pairings are perfect while others will leave you wondering how did they decided.

Beer and Cheese platter with Homemade bread

Being a beer lover in France is not always easy. Sure, you have easy access to Belgian beers, but it's usually a fairly limited proposition and the main domestic beers are abysmal. The craft beer scene in France is actually taking off, and this is a great place to try some of the best ones. La Fine Mousse has various French beers on tap, from breweries like Brasserie des Garrigues, Mont Salève, Vallée de Chevreuse or Craig Allan; as well as other great craft beers from all over the world. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food is very good too. My wife and I shared a delicious cheese platter with homemade bread and pickled vegetables. All the beers I tried ranged from good to outstanding. My favorites were Craig Allan's Cuvée d'Oscar, a very unique Dunkelweizen, and Mont Salève's Sorachi Ace Bitter. For those familiar with Brooklyn Brewery's Sorachi Ace, this beer is developed with those same special Sorachi Ace hops, but instead of a saison, Mont Salève developed a very tasty session IPA. The location is cozy and warm, and it gets fairly animated with an obviously appreciative crowd of Parisians, visitors and expat beer aficionados.

I'm sort of sitting here trying to recall this place, thinking that it was one of the Hemmingway pubs but not actually being able to place it. As it turns out it isn't, in fact it is located as far away from the Hemmingway pubs as you could expect - sort on in what could quite well be the hipster part of Paris (it seems as if the hipster, or bohemian, part of the city seems to change every generation). Anyway, now I recall that the reason I made the trek all the way out to this bar was because Yelp labelled it as the best beer bar in Paris. Mind you, since Yelp's ratings change regularly, it was the best beer bar at the time I had visited it, and it certainly deserves that title. Basically it is a craft beer bar with some pretty decent offerings on tap. Like many of these places you have a menu to choose from, and if you are stuck for choice the bartender is more than happy to provide you with some assistance. However, I did actually think that this place was pretty cool, and certainly would make the effort to visit it again.

Delicious craft beer in Paris :)

If you love delicious craft beer, this is the place to be! Keep in mind though, that as it is quality beer, the prices can add up! This is a place to go to if you want to really enjoy and savor a drink - not a place to go if you're looking to get drunk (unless you're prepared to drop some serious paper). Half pints cost between 3.50 and 7 euros or so.... It's a great place to try out the French craft beer scene, but they also offer international beers too. They have a ton of craft beers on tap, and that selection regularly rotates. There's definitely something out there for everyone, and the staff are super knowledgeable. (Plus, if you ask really nicely, they will sometimes let you sample a beer if you really can't decide.) This place is small and quite popular, so it can fill up quickly. You can order some food here (like tapas or planches) or check out their restaurant right across from them.

Fizzy Apple juice!

Fancy a beer? You could not find a better place! You can try many different beers from many different countries and the location is buzzing so great area to go out on Saturday evening. The price are reasonable knowing that you are tasting original beers (5.50 for half a pint) and we can relax and drink on a comfortable sofa while talking with your friends! Ironically I drank a fresh fizzy apple juice at this place (too hot for me to have alcohol) but I still mentioned it because this fizzy Apple juice was delicious and if you don't drink, no excuse to not go there you hang out with your friend beer drinker :)

Had a great selection on tap when I visited...

Super friendly bar tender that spoke English and gave me tons of info on the local breweries. I was really happy to find some good beer in Paris after a week of drinking wine with my collegues. Wine is fine, but give me a good beer any day.

Lovely ambiance. Food amazing.

Love this bar! It just opened up recently, but it's a great addition to the neighhborgood and to…read morethe beer scene. There are 8 different beers on tap which rotate on a regular basis (Brooklyn brewery, chimay, triple k, chouffe....etc). Happy hour is from 4-8 and all the pints are only 4.50!!! Wow! Delcious beer at 4.50 a pint - yes please! After happy hour, prices are still not bad - about 6.50 a pint which is reasonable for paris and especially for good beer. As for food, fries are only 3.50, and I split a planche mixte (cheese and charcuterie) with a friend and was amazed by the amount of food there was! You definitely will not leave hungry after ordering a planche. We were both big eaters and couldn't even finish the planche. The bartenders/owners are super friendly, and that's very important to me. Customer service really does exist in France at this bar! The bar itself is clean and the doors and pillars and such are all giant chalkboards. I was there early and a customer had brought their kids, who had fun drawing all over. Kinda weird seeing kids in a bar but hey i guess the bar is kid friendly? Lol. The only thing that I would change about this bar is the seating. It's kind of set up more like a retaurant than a bar. What I mean is that it would be hard to seat a large group. Most tables fit 4-6 people max, so if you're coming in a large group, it might be hard, but I guess not impossible. Bottom line is, I will definitely be back for some 4.50 pints of QUALITY beer! And that planche! Yum! (Btw I believe they also have a pretty extensive food menu from what I recall...) Btw, the coolest part about this bar is that the owners really try to innovate and reach out to craft beer fans. They quite often (almost weekly) will hold tap takeover events from different breweries and you can sip delicious craft beer, and even meet the Brewers or win prizes and such. The events are always really fun, with a cool atmosphere, and I will definitely be back again.

Awesome albeit TINY bar! Did someone say cheap beer?!? Count me in :)…read moreThis bar, which called Charlie et sa bière à 2 balles, is known just for that - beer for 2 bucks. Before u get too excited, the 2€ beer is a Demi, or a half-pint. But still, not bad - half pints are 2€ all night. Happy hour, which lasts until 9, offers 3.50€ pints of basic blonde beer, and 5€ pints of maredsous, a stronger tasty Belgian beer. The regular 3.50 pints were actually pretty delicious compared to what you would get elsewhere. The ambiance here is super chill! You feel at home. The staff are super friendly. It's important to mention that this place is EXTRA SMALL! Like legit tiny. 2 people can not be standing in the tiny walkway in front of the bar, or else you can't get by. That being said, the small nature of this place really adds to its charm. It's intimate and cozy. And it being a small bar is really a plus when it comes to placing your order at the bar. A minute or so before happy hour ended, I was able to easily place my order without any line or stress or people pushing and score happy hour pricing :) When looking for the bar, don't blink or you will miss it haha. It's really a tiny and narrow space. There is a little bit of table space in the back of the bar with some stools, and there is a downstairs section with tables and chairs too which is also on the small side. Just try to get here early if you wanna snag a table! As for food (cuz we all get a little hungry when drinking), there's a full selection of tapas and sharing plates and such. You can also order burgers or whatever. the only hitch is that you have to go across the street to place your order (it's LITERALLY right across from the place, you walk like 2 meters to get across the street, max) and the server will bring it to you in the bar. Cool, right? So for a group of 5, we went with a big plate of cheese 10€, an entire sausage (huge) 7€, and 2 plates of nachos (4€ each), for a total of 25€ and we were stuffed! The cheese plate was good, but the nachos were very disappointing. They were cold!!! Like not even warm. And basically it was just a slice or 2 of cheese on top of some nacho chips (not even fully melted - refer to pics) and some creamy tomato sauce at the bottom. Nachos are honestly not really hard to make and are hard to screw up so that was a little sad. I hope they improve their nacho game cuz 4€ nachos would be a hit otherwise in a bar. Come check it out for yourself :)

Quadruple-check? YES. Guillaume opened roughly three months ago and is stocking some strong brews from a variety of worldly spots, each curated carefully and lovingly. He can talk them all up and help you cross-tabulate your preferred selections to others that might be recommended if you like them. French, British, and US are most heavily represented, but they aren't all from those locales. The various shelves have fresh offerings reaching further afield in countries, and representing widely in styles, as well. I walked out with Mikeller Coffee IPA, Belzebuth (13% ABV), Lindemans Peche (2.5% confection for my wife's enjoyment), Sainte Cru White Rabbit (French beer originating 'in a garage'), and Ernestine IPA (a grapefruit-y, hoppy centerpiece from Paris' only city brewery, Brasserie de la Goutte D'Or) on my first trip. Palate, meet dazzled. Tres magniFIQUE. A short stroll from Bastille and Place du Vosges, even those with a passing interest in craft beer should tally this as a necessary stop, if even just to soak up the atmosphere...which honors Paris, craft brews, and smooth music equally. By any and all means, locals and those passing aimlessly by should support to the fullest. This is a new and emerging offering we need to continue to throw our business toward. Support the 'Stache! The surrounding area is cool too - you're in the 11th - what more could you ask for? What drew me in to this bar were the cheap pints of various beer (you have a choice between 2 different types of Belgian or Czech (I think) craft beer on tap- blonde or ambrée - which actually have flavor and are delicious, unlike what you get for happy hour elsewhere!). At 3.50-5.50 a pint with a happy hour that lasts all night til 2am, how can you say no?? I self-appointed myself to find our group new bars to head to once we realized that we were always stalking the same haunts, and so naturally happy hour prices (and length) were important criteria! The bartenders here are cool and funny. To be honest, it seems like they're enjoying the evening too and maybe have had a drink or two (or not - I have no idea, maybe they're just chill people. Not trying to call anyone out here!) . Check their Facebook page but quite often they have events where there will be free food served to customers: like tapas, couscous, raclette, etc.. Of course, when things like this are free you can't expect to fill up on it as a meal unless you're a bird or you adhere to the "eating is cheating" philosophy. You're gonna wanna order food. Speaking of which, they offer charcuterie plates, croque monsieur, etc at cheap prices. I found the croque monsieur to be more filling (since usually you split the charcuterie plate and it doesn't always end up to be so much). Food kinda took a while to arrive, but it's ok. They brought us out some free raclette as well, and added steamed carrots. Say what? Haha guess they ran out of potatoes or wanted to spice things up? It made me LOL when I saw the carrots. And to be honest, they weren't so bad! They might be on to something haha! Also, at one point while ordering drinks at the bar, the bartender totally give us huge slices of bday cake. It was a customer's bday and I guess they didn't finish the cake, so instead of wasting it, the bartender sent it our way. Oh heck yea! Having cake while drunk is the best kind of cake. Haha. Just telling this little anecdote because I think it goes to show how chill and cool the bartenders are! I will definitely come back here! Feeling welcome and good service are absolutely essential to me, and this place gives it you all that in a pretty unique way :) Edited to add: they also have a quite extensive variety of craft beer bottles to choose from, besides the several beers on tap! This would be a great place to go to if you love beer, and the staff are great at directing you to a beer that suits your tastes!
