This place serves amazing Mexican food. The steak tacos had great flavor and come with guacamole. The salsa they bring out with the chips is fresh and tasty. My wife had the Molcajeteada, which she loved. The Pico de Gallo has a bit of a zip to it and is very good. The kids liked the tacos and the quesadillas. When we 1st arrived we were seated right away and drink orders came quickly however the first waitress seemed either really confused or new. I asked what kind of beers they they served- she replied "I'm not sure, what would you like?". I tell her modelo if possible -she looks around and then says "wait I don't know if we have beer". Lol ok. A min later another waitress (maybe owner) comes and says they don't serve beer/ alcohol. Next is the food. Queso fundido was served on a regular plate almost sliding off. Traditionally it's served in a cast iron skillet. Also they charged extra for chorizo on top which usually accompanies the dish free of charge. Guac was overly salty and $8 for a very small portion. And finally 3 small tacos were $11 and were not at all yummy. Drinks were never refilled nor were the chips/ salsa. Good thing the guacamole wasn't good cause I would've been even more pissed about not getting a chip refill. Now I don't know if I'm spoiled by the authentic Mexican food I was accustomed to in Cali but this was just down right disappointing. This place was great. Services were excellent. Guacamole awwesome was fresh not frozen. Order 2 of them it was so good. I had the steak taco dinner. Steak was juicy not burnt and full of flavor. I could only finish one. The next day it was still goo for lunch, nit the shells so much. My husband had the burrito it was huge and fully stuffed. He loved it. The horchata was delish, and sweet. Not impressed. Food was ok. Waitress was not friendly. Didn't smile, took order, took forever. Table was not level so it kept tilting. We were put next to the opening in the wall and the cook had some tv station on that was quite annoying. We didn't go to a restaurant to listen to a soap opera. Won't be back. After reading all the great reviews I was eager to try it out-big mistake. My family of 6 order a different plate each to share and were all a big disappointment. The beef milanesa had a weird taste to it, almost like the meat was close to going bad. The queso fundido was so oily and came with no tortillas. The enchiladas potosinas were just bad period. The "fresh horchata " was actually a bad artificial pre-mixture. The shredded beef was super dry and flavorless. Only good thing of restaurant was the cleanliness and brightness of place. read more

Went here with the thought of having lunch and realized they also had breakfast. It was early enough on a Sunday to consider it brunch. I had the chileconquiles (sp?) with the green sauce and scrambled eggs and it was freaking delicious! My husband ordered the migas and it was equally delicious! This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Kenosha. Their tacos (especially the ground beef) are simply amazing and the corn tortillas are fantastic. The mole sauce on the enchiladas poblanas is incredible!. Would be nice if they served beer and were open a little later on Friday and Saturday, but their food is so consistently good I don't mind. I wouldn't even give this place a star. Worst restaurant I have EVER been to in Kenosha. It took ten minutes to even get someone to my table. They brought over chips and salsa and walked away. I ate a big bite of salsa and it was so hot and I had nothing to drink. She took 5 minutes to come back and ask what I wanted to drink. On the menu there was an option for a burrito dinner and a burrito king (which is just the burrito). I asked for them to make me a steak burrito dinner and they wouldn't. It was only an option for the burrito king, not the dinner. Then she told me to get the tacos because they are the same thing. Really!? I ate one of my tacos and it was mediocre at best. I went to eat my second taco when my boyfriend pulled a long black curly hair out of his food and I lost my appetite and my evening was ruined. My husband, son and I visited La Fe Cafe last night for dinner and were blown away by the authentic food and the large quantities. My husband and son are big eaters and really filled up on their meals. My son ordered the Shredded Chicken Chimichanga dinner with rice, beans, guacamole, shredded lettuce with a Jarritos soda, my husband had the burrito dinner that came with rice and beans and I had the Bistek Mexicana dinner which is cut up steak in a mild red sauce with green peppers that was delicious. I would recommend this great tasting food to everyone in Kenosha. The owners have been in the restaurant business a long time and really are very friendly people. Food is good. Real home cooking. It's not in big presentation or pizzaz, thoug the place is clean. I asked for mole with the enchilada on my tampiquena plate and was told a flat out emphatic "no", which took me a bit aback. THough in hindsight I am not sure the waitress/owner understood me - I'll give her the benefit of the doubt at this point. My skirt stek was good, though thin and a bit overdone. My wife's corn taco shells were SUPER oily. We had to get another warmer of flour shells and transfer the ingredients to avert a lunch disaster. Someone mentioned in another review that it's as good as the Mexican food in AZ. I suppose that's true of some places, but not the Mexican places I like in Phoenix. It's decent, respectable, but not top notch. For WI it's not bad. For Kenosha it's good. Compared to the places in IL and AZ I know nd love, it falls a bit short. Still, good though and I wouldn't hesitate to return. read more
