This place has good food, good service, good prices. Open on Mondays. What's not to like? read more

None of the prices listed here are accurate; ordered over the phone with our budgeted meal and got there and it was $15 more expensive than listed. The queso was just melted shredded cheese in a styrofoam box that leaked everywhere and the chips tasted like Fritos. I was most looking forward to the guacamole but it was watery and not flavorful. My husband did like his steak tacos. Very nice people working, but for the price and the flavors we won't be back. read more

This place has homestyle Mexican food that delivers on value. Low prices comparatively for the amount and quality of food you will get in the area. A definite must try. read more

Best AUTHENTIC Mexican restaurant in town! Family owned. Very kind staff and just the best refried beans I've ever had!

I have tried most everything on their menu and have yet to be disappointed. The family and staff have been together in the business for AGES and sure do know their way around the kitchen! I would follow them to the ends of the Earth if need be. Their Camarones a la Diabla is my absolute favorite. If you like the heat as much as I do, this is a must! (Be forewarned, this ain't your typical Hot! I mean Lava hot! And it's good.;) ) If you're looking for authentic deliciousness just like mama used to make, this is the place for you! read more

We had the taco dinner, refried beans & rice was fantastic! Taco's were good (made the mistake of ordering the spicy pork ones). Just a little too spicy for my taste! Will go back again, for my husband really liked it! The service was good and the place was very clean. read more

I came here KIND OF on a whim. There's a pet grooming salon a couple doors down and a couple months ago I took my dog there. I was hit with the scents of the food from this restaurant and was set on trying it out. It did not disappoint! I had a gordita de queso con frijol (cheese with beans), huevos con chorizo (eggs with Mexican sausage), and champurrado (Mexican hot chocolate). The champurrado was thin and basically just tasted like Abuelita hot chocolate without the other stuff champurrado usually has in it, but meh, I still like the flavor. The eggs came with a side of beans, diced pots, and a few tortillas. They brought fresh chips and salsa to my table when I sat down. Service was great! People are friendly and it's a nice, quiet atmosphere. I would come back with guests! read more

On our way for the upteenth time it's our favorite spot for Mexican food. Not only is it always delicious but served hot .

Same review... Clean, everyone is nice and I still have not tried anything but their soup. My theory is if you have a favorite why stray... ;) I wanted to add a photo... this is the caldo de res (beef soup) they put chunks of beef, I usually take the beef out of the soup. It's fatty (that's where all the soup flavor comes from) I cut off the fat, cut up the meat and throw the meat back in the soup. It's served with corn tortillas! It's so so yummy! read more

La Fe Cafe - Caldo de Res / Beef Soup AMAZING!!! I still say they have the BEST soups. - Mexican Near Me - Kenosha, Wisconsin

My best friend chose her birthday lunch here, she has recommended this place to me for almost a year now but I never went. I got a steak plate & the spicy pork gordita. The steak was very well seasoned and paired well with their verde salsa which had some heat to it & I loved that. It also came with potato rounds I've never seen before but it was pretty good. The spicy pork in the gordita was not for me, but I know they're popular for their spicy pork so it was just personal taste. A steak gordita would've been a better choice. I would say the menu is a little pricier than other Mexican restaurants of the same level. The food wasn't anything out of this world to desire to go back when I know of other cheaper Mexican restaurants with just as good food if not better. It's a fairly good spot, definitely worth three stars. If they gave a little bit more portion of steak for the price, it would be 4 stars. read more

This place is the real deal!!! Hands down the absolute best in Kenosha. We have been up here 12 years from Chicago & a great family friend recommended this place many years ago it is the only place for real legit food from the sweetest ladies that own it. It is like visiting my own grandmother in her kitchen. No fancy gimmicks or marketing just kick ass food read more

Food is excellent, and people are very nice. We had tacos and burritos and it was great authentic Mexican food

AUTHENTIC GEM We are always on the search for fantastic authentic Mexican food and this place did not disappoint. Last summer a Wisconsin local told us about this place for great Mexican food. My wife had gone by herself two times prior to my visit and she had fallen in love with the place. This past weekend we went as a family and had an incredible meal. It started out with the chips and salsa. My wife told me that the salsa we had was a little different from what she has experienced in her past visits. I asked the waiter and he had no problem bringing out the normal red salsa. He told us that they were trying something new and had a ton of the new salsa. I actually love that we were tasting a culinary experiment. We make salsa at home all of the time and our salsa always taste different based off of the seasonal produce we use. The chips were also hot and fresh plus they came to the table unsalted. That's the best because we can control the salt level at our table. I hate it when the chips are caked with salt like a winter street in Chicago. The girls got chicken enchiladas and I went with the Super Burrito with steak. On a personal note I wouldn't call it Super because it was more of a Normal size Burrito. Super needs to be like three inches off the plate on both sides of the plate or as large as my head. Forgetting about the semantics of words in the menu, I cut my burrito in half to look inside. I had all the yummy basics which included perfectly cooked steak, beans, cheese, tomatoes, onions and lettuce. I also decided that this Burrito needed to be hand held for my dinning experience. A fork and knife is only for a wet burrito. I also used the first salsa we had delivered to the table and spooned it on top before every single bite. The burrito was very tasty and I'm glad that I ordered it. The girls enchiladas were really good too. I was able to sneak a few bites of the chicken which was very tasty and clean (as opposed to cheap greasy dirty chicken). It was all white meat and it wasn't dried out at all which can happen with white meat. I even snuck a little of the rice which was good too. This place is cranking out some very decent Mexican food. I peaked my head in the kitchen (there's a square window in the dinning room) and was really surprised to see two abuelas (grandmothers) making all the food. I'm totally in love with this place now. I truly feel like I'm eating authentic food at someone's house. The grandmas shot me a look back and I quickly retreated to my seat. My wife said they probably thought you were from the health department. We all laughed at that being a thought that went through their minds. If I was from the health department, then I'd give the kitchen flying colors because it was really clean inside there. This place is a great hidden gem in Kenosha with some really delicious food. The dinning room is clean and comfy plus there's authentic Mexican music playing in the background. All of this ambience sets the tone for a fantastic meal. Our waiter was also really good and very attentive. We can't wait to come back and dine here again. Bonus Note: There's a cool dive bar next door called Clay's Tap. I'm wondering if we can carry in our Mexican food here and then have some beers while playing some pool. That might be our next adventure. read more

Good traditional Mexican food, served in a friendly family style atmosphere. Seasoning and spices were a little mild for my taste.

This was my first time here* I grew up in IL and had been to PLENTY of Mexican restaurants from Chicago to Waukegan to Round Lake. I've lived in Kenosha for a little over a year and haven't really had Mexican food. I have to say, due to me going to all those other places in IL, this IS my favorite spot now! The food was Delicious! Perfectly made! The salsa, only had green(even after she warned me it was spicy) was fantastic! I will definitely be eating here again! I ordered chicken floutas, 2 steak tacos, and Horchata! The Horchata was perfect! Sweet and tasty! Its a must have at any restaurant! Its perfect here! read more

yum!!! food was soo good and service was good as well. the decor is beautiful and makes me think of Mexico. we will definitely be back!

Wish I could give 0 stars. Recently I received a $200 gift receipt. Me and wife tried to use it and they asked "do you really want to use for a $50 bill." I asked you're telling me that I have to use the whole $200 at once. They said yes. I never heard of this before. Terrible customer service read more

Good food, great service. Eat here regularly. Staple of the community. Very friendly staff...

The place has a nice ambiance about it, with brightly painted pictures of towns and a really nice one of two people holding hands while gardening in a flower bed. We were greeted right away and told to sit where we wanted to. We chose a booth big enough to hold four of us. The choice wasn't hard since it looked like there were a few tables with dishes still on them and even more tables with people still sitting there; it was just after dinner time on a Friday, so they must be busy then. There was a tv on in the background with some Jesus telenovela on. One person came to get our drink orders, and another person to take our food orders. Both were very nice. One of them brought us chips and salsa. The chips were obviously out of a bag. Luckily our food came out no more than 10 minutes after we ordered them. The food I ordered was only OK: an enchiladas rancheras. I didn't realize it was meatless so I kept wondering why it was so bland. I wanted to order some flautas, but it didn't come with potatoes. There were no more than four potato slices on my plate, so bad choice on my part. read more

Arrived an hour before they closed and were promptly told they were only taking takeout orders. When we told them we'd try again when we could sit they just shrugged and walked away. I have no idea about the food but the service seems lacking. read more

Tried this place for the first time and I would say it was about average. The service was good and for meals we got the Chile rellenos and steak fajitas which both had good flavor. My husband loved that they "toasted" the taco shells. They do not serve alcohol but that easy to get over. We got the panchos appetizer which was good but was baked a little too long. I LOVE a good chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant but their salsa was super spicy we could not even eat it which was disappointing to me. read more

Great authentic food, fresh and flavorful. Friendly service and affordable. What else do you need?!

Great place!! Excellent Mexican Food!! The chicken soup is awesome!! Thank you Le Fe Cafe!!

We stopped in to try something new. The decor is awesome and the mural outside is beautiful. We both ordered tacos, a little of each to try them out. Super awesome and absolutely filling. You can also buy tamales by the dozen which I'm super stoked to try. They give you the customary chips and salsa and they were super delicious. The ladies that were running the place that day were super sweet and patient with us. This has to be our new favorite spot. read more

Super nice folks. Loved the guacamole, salsa, beans, and ground beef. Tacos are soft corn. Chips are thick. No alcohol.

Clearly they don't want business. There are plenty of other Mexican restaurants in Kenosha. I want a steak chimichanga and they said no even though I would pay extra. They said only burritos have steak. Such bs. Def won't recommend them to anyone. Will never go back. read more

Yes the dive bar next door (Clays) doesn't mind at all if you bring your food in. Just make sure to order a drink

I have been to La Fe Cafe twice already. I had been looking for a good Mexican restaurant since moving to Kenosha, and have been a bit disappointed or unimpressed by the ones I visited (which I will not name her), and when I came to this one, I was quite impressed. The menu is a bit on the smaller side, but what they have on the menu is absolutely delicious. The salsa and chips that they serve at the table is just delicious. A little on the spicy side, but so good that I can't stop eating it. The guacamole is some of the best I've had. They keep it simple, and that's just the way I like it. My mom always gets the steamed fish, and the mix of fish and cactus is great. The staff at the restaurant are great. They are kind , fast (after the food is served, of course), and always check up on us, the customers. They are always smiling, and the cooks will sometimes sing along with the music playing, so you can tell they enjoy what they are doing, and it shows in the quality of the food. I normally wait until I go to a restaurant a few times, but I just had to write a review of this place. They have a new, repeat customer out of me. read more
