As an Illinois resident that works in Wisconsin, I've found wisconsin Mexican food to be superior to anything in Illinois, and I'm originally from Arizona, so I've had my share of Mexican food. We were seated immediately, told a bit to order our meals, but the chips and salsa came out quickly, and the salsa was awesome. I ordered the flautas dinner, and they were the best I've had since I've been in the Midwest, crispy, flakey, but done just right and the meat had great flavor. My wife had the suizos enchiladas and said they were great as well. We are looking forward to coming back and trying other menu items in the near future. read more

Really enjoyed the guacamole. Burrito King and Chimichanga were very large and tasty. Kids enjoyed the chips, rice and beans. We will be back again. read more

Love their food. Always satisfying! Everything is cooked perfectly and they have quick pick up service.

This place is amazing! Best Mexican food in the racine/Kenosha area! I had the enchilada dinner and it was cheesy and hot just like I like it, and my girlfriend had this big oversized chimichanga she couldn't even finish it. The salsa is very spicy and the chips are homemade, and the horchata is the best horchata I have ever had. I loved this place so much I came back two days later! I got the fiesta Mexicana plate which comes with 1taco, 1 tostada, 1 enchilada, and one burrito, and my girlfriend got the 3 taco plate. Soo good! To top it off we got the Churros with ice cream for desert, so Goood! I can't get enough of it, come here you won't regret it! read more

This place opened fairly recent and no one comes here. The old bakery had a lot of space. The service is great. The food is fantastic. The chicken tacos were made to perfection. Probably my best to date today, on Cinco De Mayo. My parents also frequent here and they were the ones who recommended this awesome place. read more

We finally tried this after many favorable suggestions from friends and coworkers. Simply put, FANTASTIC food, good service, and quite comfy. This is so far the best Mexican type food we've had in Kenosha. A little hard to figure out parking, there is plenty behind the restaurant off the busy street. Everything is homemade, guac, corn tortillas, salsa. LOVE IT! read more

Great tacos - I had the spicy pork. Hubs had rellenos. We both cleaned our plates - even the beans and rice are good. Treat yourself to a horchata. We'll be back. One thing, there is some unusual artwork on the walls. It's worth a walk around the place to check it out. read more

One of the BEST Mexican restaurants here in town. I adore the ladies who run this place, they make me feel so at home. They are the sweetest little ladies, always offering a smile and good food!!! I love everything from here, from the enchiladas, tacos, Chile's rellenos, breakfast, soups it's all good and FRESH!! They are generous with their food portions and the salsa is so so so good!!! I definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

Had to try it since my wife and I love Mexican just about any night of the week, and it is very close to home. The chips are more like Fritos, which I'm not a fan of, but the salsa is great. I read that they serve two or three kinds, but we were only given the red sauce, which also has a pretty good kick. The menu is large, and pretty diverse. (They also have a breakfast section) - There are house favs, main entrees, seafood, many types of enchiladas and tacos, and and appetizers. My wife chose the Migadas which is fresh corn masa served with your choice of meat, and she added cheese. The pork in the dish was phenomenal . I had the gorditas with chicken, which was also stellar. And yes, the shredded cabbage/lime, cilantro/tomato salad is delicious and refreshing. Would eat here again in a heart beat, and probably will be back every other week for the rest of the year, considering it's proximity to the south side of Kenosha and the great prices. Muy, muy bien! read more

Another Yelp success! Found Le Fe on Yelp. Otherwise I think I would have just driven by and not noticed it. Neighborhood restaurant with parking on the side street. Simple place. Nicely decorated. Service was great. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. Would recommend and return again. Reasonably priced. read more

Love the food every time we go. Great authentic menu and atmosphere. Even the basics like refried beans and coleslaw taste better here than anywhere else I know. Highly recommended! read more

This is the most authentic Mexican food I've found in the area. From the outside, this place does not look like much. Inside the food and service are great. We went there on a Sunday night and it was not very busy. I had the steak taco dinner, authentic style. It was delicious! read more

Very clean place. Food was amazing. We had veggie tacos, chicken tacos, guacamole and chips. Everything was very tasty and fresh! Great, fast service. Highly recommend! read more

So been wanting to try this place for a long time. We had steak tacos and what they called the burrito dinner. Small flour tortillas with ground beef . Description: 3 flour tortillas rolled and Stuffed With refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and choice of meat. Think more taquito size. We felt the food to be very bland and small portioned. For what we paid I didn't feel satisfied at all. Also the hot sauce was not the least bit hot. I do my best to promote business in Kenosha but honestly probably wouldn't go back. I think using spices such as even cumin might help. We wish you all the best but just not for us. read more

I think this is my favorite authentic Mexican restaurant in Kenosha. The food is always great to servings plentiful and a wonderful staff. The only downside perhaps is they don't serve alcohol which may or may not be an issue. But I love this place read more

We love La Fe Cafe! It is the most authentic Mexican food we have found in Kenosha! You cannot beat the quality of food for such reasonable prices! Yum to the steak tacos, guacamole, and specialty steak dishes they serve. The salsa is perfectly spiced, not too hot, not too mild. And, the soup is soooo good! Especially when I have a cold, I love the chicken soup! read more

La Fe Cafe - Cute, casual cafe with friendly service. - Mexican Near Me - Kenosha, Wisconsin

Fantastic food with a homemade natural feel. I found the place randomly when searching Yelp while driving down I94. The restaurant looks really nice and genuine. The food was incredibly good and even more it tasted like something granny would cook for you - real home made stuff. Good coffee too (American only, no espresso) and good/easy parking. Excellent wifi connection. Highly recommended!!! AMAZING FOOD read more

I brought my family to eat breakfast and were served by the guy with the bleached man bun. All we wanted was a side of chorizo with the kids meal but instead of accommodating they want you to buy a adult size meal that comes with chorizo and refused to just add the side, we even asked to charge us for a taco and just leave the tortilla off but refused as well. So we Up and left, poor customer service in my opinion, We over looked the over pricing but after this we will not be coming back! read more

Warning: this is not the restaurant to go to if you're looking for the boring Tex-Mex you usually eat when eating out. One of the few (if not only) truly authentic Mexican restaurants in Kenosha. A hidden gem, La Fe Cafe has become the hideout for food lovers looking for authentic Mexican dining. The service is great, the staff are incredibly friendly and the food is incredible. Highly recommended for anyone who is tired of getting the same burritos or fajitas you get at any other restaurant. If you're looking for suggestions for ordering; just do eanie-meanie-miney-mo in the Entrees section of the menu and whatever you land on, I promise, will be a meal to remember. read more

Chips and salsa amazing. Flautas great! Guacamole awesome!!! Some of the best I've ever had. And the waiter taught us a cool tip on how to keep the extra guacamole longer with some sliced limes. Highly recommend this place! read more

Great customer service and delicious, very authentic food. I cannot recommend this place enough.

We really like this place for some great Mexican food. We have ordered several different meals and enjoyed every one of them. The decor could be updated to create more of an experience. The staff is very nice and attentive, but could do better when its time to pay the bill. We come often and will continue to do so! read more

It was sooooo slow service. The waitress took our order in a timely manner but never brought us our drinks till the food came and that was 35min later. Not very organized. We were 3 adults and one toddler. Two of us got our food and toddler and my husband sat there patiently for his food and it never came :( we had to ask if he was going to get his meal and the waitress pointed to his empty spot and said oh one more is missing. After we were done eating they brought his meal, COLD, it had been in the kitchen because they didn't know who's meal it was :/ really!!! And by the way it wasn't busy!! I'm never going there again!! Food was not excellent but so so. read more

This was my first time going here! I have to say I was really surprised by the food! Ordered some tacos and they were really big! Also ordered a torta a bit disappointed they didn't have chicken but none the less the steak one was good! The orchata was tasty! Over all the food was delicious! Ordered some churros for dessert and were super fresh! The bathrooms were really clean and neat! Definitely recommend this place! The decor is lovely! read more

The best authentic Mexican restaurant in Kenosha! Delicious and fresh! Great customer service. Caring staff. A definite must go!

Wow, so impressed by this new spot. Mexican food is my favorite (!) and Kenosha has a few reliable places already but the food here has blown them all out of the water for me. La Fe Cafe has authentic mexican food, and everything is prepared from scratch. The chips and salsa are as you would expect but the salsas (red and a green) actually have some kick to it for a change! I ordered the Potosinas, red corn tortillas rolled with beans and cheese and topped with carrots, potatoes, and chorizo. I have never had this dish before but it was remarkably tasty. Here is where La Fe stands above the competition: My entree was served with refried beans and a fresh cabbage salad. The beans here, thoug, are super fresh tasting and you can tell they are made in house - super delicious! Im not usually a fan of cabbage but it was sliced very thin and tossed with fresh tomatoes and lime juice so it was very crisp and refreshing and went together very well with the amazing beans and potosinas. The prices seemed very reasonable and the menu looks to offer authentic mexican specialties in addition to the usual suspects on all the other mexican restaurants' menus in the area. The husband and wife who own the cafe are very nice and hospitable. You might miss it if you drive by as it is a small space that used to be a bakery, but they have done a good job brightening it up. The decor is much more simple than that of a place like La Fogata, but the food and prices are way better in my opinion. Lucky for me, I live just a block away so I look forward to supporting this restaurant by visiting frequently! They are open from 8am to 9pm everyday so I think ill have to try their breakfast sometime! read more

Im glad we found this little gem if you weren't really looking for it you might miss it but you would be sad if you did. After moving to kenosha about a year ago my little brown heart was broken time and time again by mediocre / taco bell type mexican food. Dang can a girl get a decent taco?!? And then I found this place on accident. Best wrong turn EVER!!! LOL Im slowly making my way through the menu and everything has been good. The carne asada, enchiladas verdes, tacos, tortas, burritos, menudo & caldo de res all were yummy!!! Nom nom nom... the waitstaff is polite and theres a kid that works there (i think hes the nephew) whos pretty funny and attentive. All in all this is a good family owned restaurant worth the trip. This place reminds me of a grandmas kitchen the food it hot but jummy and the ladys working there always have a smile on thier face :) read more

Went there last night. Had the carnitas with corn tortillas. Nice place. Fair prices. Food is very good and the service was snappy. They give you chips and three salsas when you sit down, and all three dips were pretty hot, so be ready. Highly recommended. read more

La fe cafe is a hidden gem in Kenosha. They have the best Mexican food in the area hands down. They're enchiladas are to die for, I don't know how they make their sauce but I've never tasted anything better! My boyfriend often tries the house specials/favorites and has yet to be disappointed (he's more adventurous than me). The young man who works here was running the whole restaurant by himself one of the times we came in and he did an amazing job and provided service with a smile!!! Overall excellent place to eat! read more

Service here just sucked. After the food was ordered no one came back to attend to my drink neither to ask if everything was ok. It seems that they catered more to the local or usual clients that would come there, I was new to this place and didn't like the service. The food was ok nothing impressive just disappointed with the tacos since they didn't come with onion and cilantro, they add lettuce, cheese and tomatoes which I rather go get at Taco Bell for that. I wouldn't come here again not really impressive. Btw I'm of Hispanic so I am familiar with Mexican food, this was semi-authentic Mexican food. read more

If you want chilaquiles then you must come here. The other breakfast dishes are amazing as well so I highly recommend this as a great brunch spot.
