My mom made a reservation for 3 people, June 19th, 2026. Upon arrival, staff advised our table was occupied by other patrons, & would have to find another table. They proceeded to sit us at a table meant for 2. We did not fit comfortably, and plenty of other tables seemed available. I approached front desk and requested a change of table. The staff (3 women) proceeded to explain me about their reservations, table availability, restaurant occupancy, table #'s, etc. They were not polite, were flustered & stressed out. They were checking but stated it was not possible, I basically had to beg, to be moved to another table. it worked, and we got moved. This took about 10-15 minutes. it really was a hassle... I was ready to walk out...How could you start your dinning experience like this? Anyway, we ordered drinks, appetizers & main course, as soon as we got the 1st appetizer, a an employee came to the table she told us: They have other reservations, & need our table, and we need to rush so they can take care of their reservations. I could not believe her. By the way, no other patrons were getting rushed out, just us. This woman really ruined the mood. Ive never been told to eat quickly because there are other reservations in need of my table. I told her- to go ask other patrons for their table, and to STOP disturbing us. she walked away.. on to the food review: I got the Jamaica Mezcalita- it really was great tasting & a beautiful presentation in a coupe glass, nicely garnished. Highly recommended- or not? (the waitress told me to rush & get out?? Mezcal is meant to be zipped..) My mom had the mandarin mezcal drink- beautiful presentation, she loved it. See pictures. Appetizers: we had the Jalea de mariscos & tuna nikei. Beautiful presentation & delicious- ( but did we enjoy it? not really, were told to rush.) My parents each had the tacos de pulpo, I got the Maracuya Ceviche- again beautiful presentation & taste.. as we started eating, we had another visitor- the woman from the from desk, this time saying she was leaving, and she had the nerve to tell me to not stress out & enjoy, proceeded to mention everything about the reservations, tables etc. It was annoying. The pieces of fried green plantains were super freshly fried and the mofongo had strong garlic flavors. Vegetable empanada: To our surprise the vegetables were loose inside and were pickled/ tart which was delicious. The empanada dough was so fresh and so delicious and we both felt we never had such a seriously good and fresh empanada. This place made a super strong start to a food-er trip! Very vegan and vegetarian friendly. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. Hungry and in a hurry: I had just picked up my car from Casa Nissan and wanted something quick before heading out of town. I spotted this Venezuelan place nearby and thought I'd give it a try. The restaurant was completely empty when I walked in. Music was blasting so loud that it was hard to talk. Uncomfortable start: A woman came out from the kitchen who barely spoke English. She looked at me like she didn't really want to be there -- or want me there. It was awkward from the start. Confusing menu: She handed me a single-page menu and I ordered Tequeños (5 for $10) and one Tequeyoyo. She held up three fingers so I thought, okay -- three must come in an order like the Tequeños. Another customer came in after me -- she spoke Spanish -- and suddenly she was handed a multi-page menu with more items and prices I'd never seen. That's when I realized I hadn't been given the full menu. Food quality: When my food arrived, it was a lot -- way more than expected -- and honestly it tasted like something frozen and reheated . Billing mess: When I went to pay, she charged me for three separate Tequeyoyos instead of one. I showed her the price on my menu ($4 each), but she insisted I owed for three. Then another woman came out and showed me that "other" menu again with different prices. The Spanish-speaking customer got full service and a friendly tone -- I got attitude and confusion. I can't lie... it didn't feel fair. How it ended: They finally agreed to honor the original price, but I still paid the difference as a tip because I felt bad about the misunderstanding -- even though it wasn't my fault. They didn't thank me or even acknowledge it. Final thoughts: The whole experience left me feeling gaslighted and discriminated against for not speaking Spanish. I walked out embarrassed, frustrated, and hungry for something better. I love supporting local restaurants -- but respect and clear communication matter just as much as flavor. Hopefully they improve, because no one should feel unwelcome when all they wanted was a quick bite.

I don't know much about Venezuelan food but I saw a lot of migrants there so it seemed legit, it was all single males though so a bit unnerving, but hey if you're single, ladies, they're here. Anyhow, back to the food, the breakfast plate was alright, it wasn't anything to write home about, as it came with some white cheese, an arepa, black beans, overcooked eggs and mayo. It reminded me of the meals I had in Costa Rica, hearty, filling, and no spices whatsoever. I couldn't finish it. It was also expensive at $14. The coffee it came with was so delicious though, it almost made up for the whole plate. Similar to the Costa Rican Chorreador style brew, Guayoyo is a coffee sock brewing method. Not sure if they did that here, but the result is a deeply sweet flavor with notably balanced acidity and fruity undertones. It tasted like they added condensed milk and the foam on top was so decadent. I'll go back just for the coffee. Fortunately they have something else that's ridiculously good. Tequeños, or Venezuelan cheese sticks, makes mozzarella sticks seem like children's food. It's basically fried cheese with pastry dough, but the queso Blanco is perfectly salty, the pastry oh so light and buttery and flaky. It's $9 for 6 and worth it. Don't even get me started on the dipping sauce, Guasacaca or avocado salsa, it's a brighter, tangier version of guacamole. This one tasted amazing paired with the Tequeños. I can't wait to explore the rest of the menu, it's definitely exciting to see different cuisines offered in El Paso! That stopped when I hit the ice chips. It wasn't smoothly blended but chunky and that was most of the drink. I kept having to wait for it to melt in order to not clog up the straw, the ice chunks were too thick. Very frustrating. At the end she got my check and the total for one appetizer and one NON ALCOHOLIC drink was $14! The drink alone was $8 and none of the drinks had any pricing or menu. I went to this place because some friends recommended them and I guess if you're friends from what I saw you'll be treated well, but if you're a new client, be prepared to wait. For the entire experience, it took over an hour for one drink and one appetizer and it wasn't busy at all. This area has so many amazing bars and options, I hope they start treating it like a business and not just a personal hangout. It turned out to be excellent advice. Mesilla is a charming, historic community with an unmistakable Old World feel. Founded in 1848, it once served as the Confederate capital of the Arizona Territory and is perhaps best known as the site where the notorious outlaw Billy the Kid was tried and convicted of murder in 1881. Today, the village centers around a picturesque plaza surrounded by beautifully preserved adobe buildings, shops, and restaurants that make it well worth a visit. One of Mesilla's most famous restaurants is La Posta de Mesilla, which has been serving traditional New Mexican cuisine since 1939. Over the decades, it has expanded into a sprawling 17,000-square-foot complex made up of a maze of interconnected dining rooms. Its menu is built around century-old family recipes featuring the renowned red and green chiles grown nearby in the Hatch and Mesilla valleys. After what felt like a two- or three-minute walk through the restaurant to reach our table, we ordered margaritas and waited for the customary basket of chips. I added an order of chile con queso along with both the red and green salsas. Our drinks, chips, and salsas arrived promptly. The salsas were pleasantly spicy and packed more heat than the average restaurant version, something I appreciated. Unfortunately, the chile con queso never arrived. After unsuccessfully trying to catch the attention of one of the busy servers, we finally flagged someone down to remind them. By the time it reached our table, our entrées were only moments away, leaving little opportunity to enjoy it with the chips. My wife ordered two tacos with rice and beans. I chose the Folded Tacos--three deep-fried folded corn tortillas filled with seasoned ground beef and chicken, then topped with lettuce, tomato, and shredded cheese, served alongside refried beans and rice. So, how was the food? It was simply okay. Nothing on either plate stood out. The dishes lacked the bold flavors, vibrant presentation, and satisfying textures that make New Mexican cuisine so memorable. That said, my sampling of their food only included two plates. Perhaps another entree would have delivered a more authentic taste. Service added to the disappointment. It was slow, disjointed, and often difficult to find a server when we needed one. Since we visited on a Sunday evening, it's possible the restaurant was short-staffed, but regardless of the reason, the overall dining experience suffered. If you're visiting the Las Cruces area, don't miss Mesilla. It's one of southern New Mexico's true gems and absolutely deserves a stop. As for La Posta de Mesilla, It's an experience and could be worth a visit.
