Mango Passionfruit donut. 3€
Marilyn M.

The donuts here are huge and fantastic. Although I wanted to try them all, I can't imagine having more than one. Each donut is the size of a large dessert dish. Instead, I had just one of the Mango-Passionfruit (3€). Since La Donuteria is next door to Cafe Cometa and we ate there twice, I came over for a donut afterwards. However, on the second visit I wasn't in the mood for any of the flavors of the day. There was one I thought I might like but it got snatched up by the customer before me. Oh well, until I am in Barcelona again will just have to savor the memory of the most delicious donut I have ever had in my life. Thank goodness for photos. :D Take the metro to Poble Sec station and walk one block North. A few blocks South are a few dozen Pinxto restaurants if you'd like to grab some food before your donut. (Assuming Cafe Cometa next door is packed.)

I came to this place 2 days in a row...probably because I was craving donuts. However, the donuts were very good. I would suggest to go earlier in the day as the selection things out as it gets later in the day. I think the maracuya with vanilla and peach cream was absolutely divine! As was the chocolate cream filled donut. However, be prepared to pay premium prices- almost 10€ for 2 donuts and 2 coffees. Being from the USA, that is super expensive for just a donut and coffee. I come from a land where that price could buy you a dozen really good donuts and 4 coffees. I can't imagine paying up to 36€ for a dozen donuts. UGH!

Great donuts with incredible variety. The hardest thing about Donutería is having to choose between all of their creative and exciting flavored. From rose and yogurt to Apple and ginger, they have many exciting combinations of flavors! The donuts are big but they don't feel to heavy or too greasy. I've had better, but for Barcelona these do a good job!

If you are homesick and missing some traditional American style donuts, get yourself to La Donuteria

Great donuts! Chocolate was my favorite! But plain was also awesome. Get there early to have the most choices.

Forget about Dunkin' Donuts and get a huge, artisan, delicious Donut here. Great choices of salty and sweety pieces of delight.

After a dozen attempts to dial in the pour the staff was honest and upfront about the selection that it couldn't be made to their standards. Wow, love this! Instead of giving me my drink and rushing me out the door, it was all about the quality. Being new to espresso making at home I fully understand the 1:2 ratio in a specific amount of time for making espresso. I took their advice and went with another bean selection. My iced cafe latte was for take away and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors. One thing to note for any Americans that expect sweetener, there is none here. I wasn't bothered by this but I could see many others might be. Looking back I wish I had bought some beans to bring back home to Cali.

Service was fast - order at the middle kiosk and wait for your drink. They have a few iced drinks available, and you can choose which 3-4 beans to make the drink with. We got the iced latte along with the shakerato. The shakerato had no milk, so you can definitely taste the beans/coffee flavor. As for the iced latte, it was definitely less better and slightly more sweet and creamy due to the milk. You still tasted a bit of the flavor of the coffee.

Caravelle is quaint and modern, and the service is definitely on the more lax side. Note: smaller parties may be seated at the communal table, and this place stays busy! Be prepared for a bit of a wait. I started with a café con leche, and although I'm not usually a sweets-for-breakfast kinda person, the croffle looked too enticing online to pass up. Being a huge egg aficionado, I also ordered a side of eggs à la carte. My coffee arrived quickly, but after waiting 30 minutes, I noticed that guests who had arrived after me were already enjoying their meals... When I checked in with the waiter, it turned out my order hadn't gone through at all. I had to reorder, and while waiting, I asked for another café con leche since I was long overdue for a refill. Unfortunately, that second coffee never came--but on the bright side, my meal eventually did. The croffle was freaking divine. Crispy/flakey on the outside, and soft inside. The cream was sweet, but not overpowering, and the tart of the berries balanced out the meal. As I was getting ready to check out, the waiter asked if I had ever received my second café con leche. Embarrassed for them, I admitted that I hadn't... Realizing they'd made ANOTHER mistake, he apologized profusely and quickly asked the barista to make me one to go. To compensate for my time and patience, he generously comped my entire meal, leaving me to pay only for the initial coffee (2.50 euros). Despite the service hiccups, the food was incredible--truly one of my favorite breakfasts in Spain.
