The food was so delicious we went back twice for lunch. Our first day we had the Greek Salad, Moussaka, and the whole grilled Sea Bream. Everything was so tasty and of course the houmous with warm pita is a must. Our second lunch we had the Specialite de ma grand-mere (roasted lamb shank with figs) which melted in your mouth, it was so tender. The chicken kabobs and Spanakopita were tasty, however the pork kabobs lacked flavor and were very tough. The staff and especially Leila were lovely and attentive and gave us a little glass of Ouzo to finish. We were in Europe for 16 days and this was our best meal and overall dining experience!! From the moment we walked in and were greeted like family to the end of the meal, we felt so welcomed. We found La Crete on TripAdvisor and decided to stop in due to the great reviews. We checked Yelp of course and saw they were great here as well. To begin, we ordered hummus and immediately dug into the hummus that was absolute perfection. The pita bread they served it with was grilled and had some herbs on it as well...delicious!! We told the server, I think was one of the owners, the hummus was amazing and he brought us a little bit more. We all ordered skewers with baked potato, salad and tzatziki and we all loved it. The amazing service continued throughout the meal and when baklava was suggested we decided...why not? I'm not usually a fan of baklava because it is most likely made with walnuts or pecans and I hate both of those. This baklava was made with pistachios and was so very yummy. Again...perfection!! We made plans to return the following night and our trip on the Seine river went too long and we had to leave without getting another chance to return. So so good! We stopped in on a busy evening and were able to secure a table fairly quickly. Our group got the halloumi and the baked cheese puffs appetizers. They were so good! Halloumi is one of my fav foods, and I was not disappointed. For dinner I got the meatballs, and my husband the eggplant. Both were so very good - a little disappointed the rice with the eggplant was cold but oh well. My friends got the chicken kebabs to share and holy chicken Batman! We were leaving the Jardin des Plantes and casually looking for a place to have dinner, when we stumbled upon this place, and it was such a great find. The interior felt homey, with the touches of Greece. Immediately after stepping foot I was greeted and treated like family during the entire night. The food was made to order, and it was worth the wait for it, because it was so delicious. Our meals were served with their signature potatoes, which were buttery and soft. I wish that I had a bigger appetite to have been able to finish that beautiful potato. I hope that I am able to be reunited with this place again in the near future. read more

Like all of the previous reviews mentioned, this place is incredible. From the ambience to service to the food, everything was perfect. 1. Grandmother's special menu item - this was an entire shank of lamb that was stewed in a flavorful sauce. It was juicy and tender and had all the feelings of a homecooked Greek meal. This dish is served with a baked potato, tsatziki sauce, and some fig-like fruits. I would get this dish every time I come here. 2. Chicken kebab platter - this came with 2 big skewers of chicken that were grilled to perfection. The chicken was not dry and had really good flavor. My new favorite in Paris. Wonderful restaurant on the coolest street in town! We were craving Greek food and found La Crete on Rue Mouffetard. The restaurant is intimate and cozy with half timbered ceilings and beautiful artwork. The staff is perfectly attentive, friendly and fun. The food is the star. Beautifully prepared and presented, flavorful and delicious. We can't wait to return. This restaurant gets very busy very quickly and stays packed, even on off nights. Arrive early and explore the surrounding neighborhood, it's super fun. Rue Mouffetard is one of the oldest areas of Paris and the architecture is really interesting. read more

If you live in 5th zone of Paris when visiting, this Greek restaurant is one of the most excellent choice which achieves great combination of price and quality, especially it's set menu providing appetizer, main dishes and desert at the cost of less than 20 €. My wife and I decided to take a 25 minute trip via the metro to try this restaurant out based on other Yelp reviews. We are so happy we did because it was well worth the trip. The €16 "menu fixe" was absolutely delicious and a steal in comparison to other places in Paris. For appetizers we ordered the assorted plate and Greek salad, for the main dish we ordered the chicken and pork kebabs, and for dessert we got the baklava and chocolate mousse. The food was amazing, authentic, and the service was excellent. This restaurant has very homey feel to it and the waiters want to take good care of you. Honestly could not recommend this place more! My friend and I had such an incredible meal here and service was fantastic (which really makes a meal, at least in my opinion). I had slow roasted lamb (one of my favourites to eat when in Greece) along with dolmades to start - which was a lot of food! They were both delicious and I would really recommend the lamb to anyone intending on eating there. When it came to dessert I had already told the waiter that I couldn't eat gluten or dairy - so he came to take my friend's order (she took a pastry which she loved) - but when he came back to the table he brought with him a beautiful plate of fresh berries saying they were on the house as I couldn't eat any of the dessert menu. The restaurant is also in an ideal location for anyone in Paris (right in the heart of the 5th on the beautiful rue moufftard) making it a great place to have a wonderful meal then walk to a lovely terrace nearby and have a glass of wine! read more

The food was delicious-- try the bouchette oriental for that güd güd lamb//beef combo. Comes with a perfectly done baked potato and a super fresh salad on the side. The staff/owners are the best I've seen in Paris. Not only do they provide excellent service, but they're friendly and super funny and will joke around with you just enough. Add it all to the cozy Greek-esq decor [[minus the weird droopy boobs added to the painted women on the wall]] and you got a great night. read more

The prices, you have different formulas or you may choice from menu, the differences were in the quantity in your plate. Spend less... got less. Heard from some people that this was the best Greek restaurant in Paris so my family and I decided to check it out. The service was impeccable and very personable. I believe the owner himself was seating and serving us the whole time. We arrived right on time because after we got seated the restaurant even had to turn away some folks because they were full for the evening. Definitely order the Lamb shank, the juicy meat fell right off the bones. Portions are generous and food is delicious and full of flavor. It certainly is a walk from the Latin quarter and you will certainly need a walk back to digest all that hearty food but remember, - you are in Paris. Once satiated, take your time. We had such a great experience here! We were staying within walking distance of La Crete and thought we'd give it a go from the reviews and it was just as good as everyone raved about. Great taziki and kabobs. The men who work there really hustle and you can tell they take pride in what they do. Cafe Crete is real Greek food, simple, delicious, fresh. Owner is on site, very friendly, very helpful. Atmosphere is pleasant and casual. Open late, and expect a full house during peak season till at least 10pm. No outside tables, but there is a table or 2 at the open windows up front. My teenage daughter and I wandered in here almost randomly on a Saturday night. We arrived at 6:45 when it was nearly empty, but by 7:30 people were being turned away. The staff were very friendly and gave us a table right in the front window, and were attentive but never hurried us. They seemed equally happy to speak to us in English or French. My daughter had the chicken kebab and I had the koftedes (meatballs), both excellent. They came with a baked potato and herbed sour cream and rice (no other veg--one of the only meals we've had in Paris without a green salad). I got a half-bottle of wine at a reasonable price, and they very nicely found a cork for me when I didn't finish it. Most of the other diners seemed either to be known to the staff or to have had a reservation, so it was our dumb luck to be the Americans who eat early and just stumbled in. We loved this place in Paris. The staff was incredibly friendly, spoke great English & were really from Greece! The food was pretty good & very reasonable. We shared a table with some random French guys and they were regulars at this place and ate there every week. They bought us shots and practiced their English on us. They also complimented my French skills, so it was a win win. It's in a cute neighborhood by the Pantheon and well worth the 10 minute uphill trek from our place.
