The day before graduation, an hour before we were going to leave home to head to LaCrosse so we could be here in time for the early ceremony Saturday, U-Haul called to tell me they didn't have a truck in LaCrosse for me. We would have to drive 60 miles to the U-Haul in MINNESOTA. So a three-hour round trip for us on graduation day. What made it even worse is that we had family who was ready to help us move out in the early afternoon, but who couldn't stay long enough to wait that extra three hours. The woman who called me had absolutely ZERO empathy - she told me I should have read the fine print, that they say they will call the day before to confirm and let you know if they have a truck available. How is that a reservation then? If I RESERVED a truck a month ago and all of a sudden you no longer have it? The only compensation they offered was extra mileage, but no compensation for the gas money it cost in both my car and the U-Haul to make that trip. Much less any compensation for the time and disruption on such a special day for my son. I find it hard to believe that they didn't know until the day before that they didn't have a truck. And I call BS - we stayed at the hotel right next to the U-Haul in LaCrosse and they had a TON of trucks on their lot. I have pictures to prove it. I will no longer be using U-Haul for any of my moving needs, nor will my family. Worst customer service ever!

When everything was on the truck we were told there was 22,000 pounds of "stuff" that we were moving!! That's 11 TONS! The move took place over three days; Day 1, pack, Day 2, load and drive to Illinois, Day 3, unload. Throughout the three days, all the people involved in the process were friendly, courteous, and conscientious. After unloading the truck, they carefully reassembled items that had to be broken down for packing including our 150-year-old grandfather's clock. If you are looking for professional, reliable movers, give Chaz Moving a call. They're terrific.

When the day came to actually get packed and moved it was anything but. It was supposed to be a 2 day job, that turned into 3 days. On the first day 3 people showed up, 4 HOURS LATE. Only 1 of them worked the other 2 that showed up slept in the truck for 2 hours or so before they even lifted a finger. The 2 people that were sleeping in the truck, The OWNER AND HIS WIFE. When they finally all started working they took a break about every 30 minutes meanwhile charging us by the hour. A couple other people showed up and one of them needed to use the restroom, I'm fine with that, when you gotta go you gotta go. But he was nice enough to clog the toilet with what looked like about a half a roll of toilet paper and didn't say anything about it. The toilet ran all night and flooded the bathroom which leaked through the floor into the laundry room and resulted in the ceiling getting damaged and had to be repaired 3 days before closing on the house. They packed numerous things we told them not to that needed to stay with the house, and didn't load everything that needed to go. They loaded the table top but not the legs, only loaded 2 out of 4 of the patio chairs, and multiple delicate and fragile things showed up on the other end damaged. My daughter had a white board that wouldn't fit in the box they were trying to put it in so they FOLDED IT IN HALF. We had a some copper stamped artwork from Africa that was ROLLED up. Every box I open I find more and more things damaged from careless packing. Chaz kept telling us he was the best, and he is. THE BEST AT WRECKING YOUR BELONGINGS. I will never use them again and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Yesterday I made a call to them to see if there was any chance one of the workers could come and realign the top half of our entertainment center they moved. Mike, Lee and Rowan were very kind, polite and professional in doing this for us. I again, would highly recommend Two Men and a Truck for the quality and service they provide. This was a big move, so I received a few different quotes and ultimately chose TWO MEN AND A TRUCK as the movers. Worse mistake of my life....here is why: * Despite my warning them numerous times about underestimating the move, they did just that. It took 5 hours longer than they thought, needed more trucks and guys and ended up costing double what they quoted. During the estimate meeting, I even told them not to underbid and showed them every closet, every storage room and said this is a 3400 square foot house that is full...plan for it. Nope...they did not. * They broke a glass shelf in a large glass curio cabinet during the move. Had me fill out the paperwork and said they would get it replaced and handled. Two months later and still nothing. * They broke a TV because they did not wrap any of the tvs despite being asked multiple times to do so. They were to pay me for that. Two months later and still nothing. Every time I contact them, I get the 'oh we are so sorry...we are working on it'. When I complain about the cost doubling 'that is just what can happen with estimates'. So, my word of advice. Do NOT trust TWO MEN AND A TRUCK!!!

They loaded the trailer carelessly and actually kicked stuff around the apartment. They acted the entire time as if I had put them out by hiring them. They were asked if there was room for a mattress in the trailer, to which they replied there was not. When we got to our destinstion across the country, we learned that not only had everything been loaded poorly, there was room for the brand new mattress which we had left behind. Now we're out several hundred dollars having to buy a new mattress. If Colin and his helper hadn't been quite so lazy, they could have loaded everything! There was plenty of room! We also found out when we unloaded the trailer that many of the boxes marked FRAGILE were loaded on the bottom of the stacks of boxes and several items were damaged or broken as a result. I paid for two hours of time - $200. It would have been a bargain if they had done their jobs correctly. They were at my home for one hour of the two I paid for. I wouldn't be upset if they had actually managed to load everything. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY ANY LESS. They were rude, didn't show up when they were supposed to, couldn't manage to properly load the trailer, and still left early. I'm completely dissatisfied that this company showed up and did a poor job and managed to cost me even more money.

I'm giving them a three because I did have some four and five star experiences even though this one was not. But I want to caution people...couple of things, you have to wrap your own things in plastic. They use the same old quilt coverings to cover your furniture. These coverings sit on the floor of their truck when not in use. I didn't like that a lot of stuff was stacked on top of my leather and suede furniture. Left indentations and a scrape that I can't seem to get rid of. (Even though I wrapped my furniture in protective coverings myself.) They were late the morning of unloading because they didn't realize where they needed to be in terms of city... but the biggest beware is, I took photos of all my items and rooms and sent them all to the business so they could plan what size truck to bring. At the end of the loading day, they came to my husband and said that not everything was going to fit. I can't believe that nobody checked a couple of hours before, did a walk around through the house to see what was left. So they left our old house 3 1/2 hours away to go to our new house with not everything in tow. There was no Plan B. Initially, the owner blamed me for requesting a certain size truck like I would know what size truck, my stuff would fit in! The owner kept asking what I wanted them to do. Well I wanted them to go back and get my stuff. But then they couldn't fit in a date and yes, I would've had to pay more for them to do that. So my husband had to get a truck and find a guy to go back to get the rest of our belongings! Very stressful after moving being very stressful in itself. Very disappointing. I was able to talk to the owner about this. But after talking with so many people about it afterward, who were just shocked by how the whole thing was handled, I thought I better write a review just as a heads up. Friends that I have talked to said that when their movers (not this company) got there, they walked around the house before they even started loading to make sure they brought the right size truck, and one friend said the company sent another truck within 15 minutes of arriving at their house. Another option would've been for us to get a heads up so a U-Haul or other trailer could've been rented so no one would've left the area and had to travel back. Again, I'm just encouraging you to think about all this stuff and I'm encouraging the company to have a Plan B in place for things like this.
