Hired LaCrosse Movers to unload a truck I rented/drove for a long distance move. I had to call to get a quote and appointment. The online form on the website is completely a waste of everyone's time -- it got me a message to call. Set up the appointment, and got a call 30 min beforehand to verify they'd be there. Duncan and Dustin showed up on time and did a great job. They worked really hard for two solid hours. The only surprise was being told that there was an extra $200 fee to move one item over 300 lbs. I hate surprises and declined. I had the truck for a few more days and found a neighbor who helped me move that one thing. read more

We probably hire movers more than most. In the last 4 years, we moved from VA which was done in 2 phases, with additional movers hired to move furniture out and back in for installation of hardwood floors and again after the basement was finished off. Of course our daughter moved out to her first purchased home, and again for a sale and new purchase, and we did a whole house remodel so our favorite furniture moved to the basement with us while the rest moved into storage and back again. Not to mention hiring movers for getting rid of or buying new furniture or rearranging things. After years of doing it ourselves, it's no longer prudent so if we have 2 hours worth we hire La Crosse Movers, if not we combine needs with a neighbor and we all get our mattresses flipped, furniture moved or boxes carried up from the basement. We used 3 other local companies before La Crosse Movers. Since the first time, we have stuck with them. All the crews have been great. Today's was Terry and Dylan who put together a bed frame fromOverstock, carried down the new king size box spring and Mattress in a box from Amazon (about 200+ # total) , rotated our king mattress and then headed a mile to our daughters to do the same, move a dresser to the basement and move furniture to fix the wrinkles in a rug. They were competent, quick, hard working and pleasant...and saved our old knees and backs and made our homes safer. Communication was stellar - they showed up on time. Carefully packed and loaded everything, then carefully unloaded and delivered everything to the new location. INSIDE JOB! My second moving job by La Crosse Movers was an "inside shuffle", part two of a long-needed basement cleanup. Josh and Dillon were right on time and ready to condense as much stuff as possible in my 3 rooms of basement clutter into areas so I would have open space to work in the future to sort, donate, and discard. They filled a 6 yard dumpster in record time (45 minutes), even spotting items in the pile of junk I might want to set aside. La Crosse Movers had previously moved my stuff from next door by hand into the garage, so they moved the garage stack to the back basement room this time after emptying the back room. That included a brand-new portable dishwasher and small oven, both unboxed but moved without a scratch. There was not a single complaint about the difficult access due to placement of the stairs, a chair lift, a brick pillar, and the furnace. No room for dollies, all hand-carried. They finished so quickly that they suggested I look around and see if there was anything else I could have them lift or do while they were still there. I didn't end up using many of the totes the first team dropped off at the first move, but those are great little tools which I highly recommend if you pack, move, and unpack within a month. Sturdy, stackable, easy to carry, no boxes needed, every tote clean as a whistle. James came by to pick up my totes right out of the garage. I have to say, everyone I've dealt with has been extremely polite, capable, mellow, and hard-working. And they always return calls, which sometimes doesn't happen with other busy, highly rated companies. read more

Without knowing who to call, I spent a week researching different companies. It basically came down to who would be the first to respond, and who would be available with a four day notice. The second runner up was Coulee Region Moving Services. However, the La Crosse Movers took the gold. Plus, they were the most professional over the phone (Eric's Moving stuck to text messages. I actually received one at 7:59pm. Yikes!). The La Crosse Movers (LCM) arrived on time. Their appearance made a very good first impression. I wish I could remember both of there names, however, Donovan (may not be the right name, or, spelling) was wearing black pants, and a LCM company shirt. Eric was wearing khaki pants and a button up shirt. They both greeted me with respect and professionalism. At that moment I knew I picked the right guys. During the move they made a stop along the route to pick up a large 1940's study desk, which weighed over one hundred and twenty-five pounds. Taking their time, they were able to maneuver it pass two back-to-back 90 degree turns through a hallway that was barely wide enough, down a flight of stairs, and over a banister without damages to the desk or the building. At the end, everything was where I wanted it, without damages to my house or my belongings. Plus, I know it's subjective, but it was two hundred dollars less than what I expected. Also, this may sound insignificant, but it was nice for them to accept a check. Overall, it would be pretty hard to take the gold away from these guys. The only complaint I have is they weren't free of charge; otherwise, there are none. Thanks guys!! read more

We hired La Crosse Movers to move our stuff from a storage facility in La Crosse to our new home in the Madison area. Everything seemed to be going just fine - we arranged for them to arrive with our stuff in the early afternoon on a friday. We received a call from our storage facility around 2:45pm that friday saying that no one had stopped to get our stuff yet. Yikes! Of course, we called the moving company right away and no one answered. We left a message and kept trying to reach them for the next hour. Finally, we got a call back and the guy was very casual and said that they were just heading over there to get our stuff packed up - that they wanted to wait until the rain had passed. Well, I had a hard time believing this since our storage facility was in a climate controlled warehouse which was completely indoors and all they'd have to do is pull the truck up to the gate (nothing would've gotten wet). The guy told us that it was going to go quick because he had about 5 or 6 guys working with him to get it done. The hours passed and around 7pm 2 guys showed up saying they were supposed to be helping unload a uhaul. We hear from LaX Movers who say they aren't going to arrive until 8:30. The 2 guys leave. The moving truck finally rolls up to our house around 9pm and the guy has not 6 guys with him, not 5 guys with him, but 2 guys (the other 2 never came back). The weather was kind of icky out - it was windy and had been raining off and on that day - so we expected them to put down some sort of tarp so they weren't tracking any mud into our brand new home (this is the experience we had when we went through a different moving company in the past at least). Well, I'm sure you've guessed that there was nothing put down. Dirt and mud tracked through the house. We had quite a few items we would've liked moved into the basement, but the movers told us they wouldn't fit through the doorway. (they tried unsuccessfully to remove the door from it's hinges and did not even try removing the hand railing leading down the stairs.) They told us they didn't want to try moving these things down there because they didn't want to scratch up the walls. I was shocked because this is the reason we hired movers - so they'd be able to figure out how to get our stuff where we wanted it to be without messing up the house. I understand that some things are just too big, and this was the case with our couch, but the next day my husband, his brother, and their dad got our treadmill into the basement with no problems what-so-ever. Towards the end, you could tell that the movers wanted to be done (as were we ready for them to just finish) because they didn't bother putting the last of the boxes in the correct rooms - everything just went right by the entrance. They were gone a little past 11pm. I guess mainly I was upset that 1) they didn't contact us to tell us they'd be late, 2) they weren't honest about why they were late, and 3) it just didn't seem like a professional service. If they would've been honest from the get-go, I would've been much happier. I suspect that they had us on the schedule for saturday and realized the mistake when we called that afternoon. Just be straight up with us - that's all I ask. We did end up paying the full price in the end. I suppose I could give this company a 1 star rating, but our stuff did arrive and everything was in decent condition. The main guy was also very nice, but I believe young and perhaps inexperienced in the business world. I think if we ever move again, we'll stick with Graebel who did a great job for us a few years back (a little more money, but you get what you pay for). read more

We used La Crosse Movers to help us unload a 26' truck we drove from out of state. Due to the driveway, they had to use a shuttle to get our goods from the truck to the house. It was in the mid to high 90's and made for a long difficult day. The guys from LAX Movers were great. They worked solidly the whole day and maintained a professional and positive disposition. The only issue we ran into was we had booked 3 movers to speed up the day about 2 weeks prior. The day of the move we got a call stating one of the guys called in sick. The lack of the 3rd guy really slowed down the move, but the other 2 guys attitudes made up for the loss. We'd recommend them in a heartbeat to anyone in the market for movers. read more

I was very disappointed with La Crosse movers! I asked to have a couch moved to the basement I was told a minimum of an hour, $100/hour Since I was paying a $100 I asked for a few additional pieces moved ( a chair to the basement and a table moved to a different room) To move the couch to the basement required removing a door. The movers were flummoxed by this and had to call their boss to ask what to do Their boss thought since I just had a sofa to move he only gave the movers 15 minutes With the removal of the door it was now going to cost me $200 dollars for 2 hours of service The total move time with door removed and replaced and everything in its proper place was 30 minutes!! I felt I was taken advantage of and overcharged They also dinged the door frame I would not recommend La Crosse Movers!! read more

I am updating this review since they did eventually fix the console table that was broken in the move and had it dropped off. They did a pretty decent job on the repair so I am adding another star to the review. When the time came to move, a million questions and doubts flowed through my mind. I wasn't sure how much it would cost me, how much time it would take and if my life's valuables would arrive safely at their new destination. When I called La Crosse movers a gentleman by the name of Benjamin answered the phone and proceeded to answer every question I could throw at him. Benjamin sounded generally concerned and was very patient with me (I know I must have sounded like a overly concerned customer). He told me how the move would work and gave me a quote; which I might add was lower than most the competition. We scheduled my move and when he came out he had two helpers and a big truck. All the employees were very respectful and friendly. When it was all said and done they got my family and I moved in less than 4 hours and we had a lot of stuff. From the speed at which they emptied our place in Holmen, I was impressed. They arrived at our apartment in Chicago ahead of time and the tedious task of unloading that truck began. There were only two of them, but they did the work of five. They even took some things to our storage unit with a smile, extra cost, of course, but they earned it. The overall cost was reasonable especially for having to cross state lines and coming into Chicago proper. They broke nothing and lost nothing. After being here all day, they headed back to La Crosse. If they did that well long distance, they should be a real breeze in town. I would use them again. read more

In a word.TERRIBLE. Hired because we thought they were a local moving company that seemed worth a try. Boy were we wrong. If you want 3-4 college kids and a U-Haul truck than they are right up your alley. If you want a professional-worry free experience than stick with the big box movers. Do you save a few bucks with La Crosse movers? Yes, that much is accurate but as the old saying goes...."You get what you pay for" and that couldnt be more true in this case. A young inexperienced owner with little or no business experience who may mean well but lets face it, when it comes to your personal belongings that simply doesnt cut it. You may have read the more in depth details of our experience in the La Crosse tribune editorials in the past. In a nut shell,if you are moving out of a dorm they probably would suffice. I used LaCrosse Movers to help load my items from two storage units into a 26' truck. I thought I had help (family/friends) lined up, but at the last minute my help was declining. I called a couple other companys - they were either unable to help with only days until the move or were more expensive. I contacted LaCrosse Movers and was able to schedule 2 guys to help only days ahead. The guys were awesome! I was so glad I decided to call for help. They packed the truck nice and tight and everything fit. I believe without their help we would not have fit everything into the truck and we would have been stiff and sore the next day. It would also have taken us alot longer than 2 hours to load. The guys had positive attitudes and worked non-stop. I wanted to bring them with me the next day to help unload. I moved from one state to another or 3.5 hours. I was on a tight budget, otherwise I would have had them do the whole move. I gave them 4 stars since we only had them help with loading a truck vs. completing a whole move. Although I don't doubt they would have done a great job. I reached out to this company over 2 1/2 weeks prior to my move date and spoke with James Muns, we discussed pricing, dates and time. At that time I told him that I would call back to confirm my move. When I called back, James did not answer the phone but I spoke to David, who answered more questions that I had. He also asked me, do I still want them to be at my address at 1pm on July 1, I said yes, please. On the day of the move, my wife and I had the entire apartment packed and ready to go. at 1:16, I called to find out where the movers are and the phone went to voicemail. At 1:56, I received a call from James and this is where it gets interesting. I asked where are the movers and James went on to say, that they are not coming because I didn't call back to confirm it and he has this written in his notes, that I was suppose to call back. I insisted that I did and that I spoke with David. James said, in a "as a matter of fact," way insisted that no one answers the phones accept for himself and another gentlemen. I tried to explain again but was interrupted repeatedly with the same conclusion, "no one answers the phones accept himself and another gentleman." I asked him if he had an employee by the name of David and he said yes but he should not be answering the phone! It is really no concern to me the inter-workings or hierarchy of who answers a phone. When it was my turn to speak, I asked, what can I do now and was told, "we are all booked up and will not have any openings until Thursday, 6 July. I explained to James that I will be leaving for vacation on that date and that wouldn't be possible. After I said that, the phone was silent and I said ok, thanks and hung up the phone. The kicker is, that James did not apologize for the mix up or offer any resolution. Seems like he would have, considering "he is one of the only two employees to answer the phone," This to me means that he represents this company and their business practices. Here are some parting thoughts for this company: 1. In this type or any type of customer service industry, DO NOT ever argue with or blame a potential customer. 2. If you are here to MAKE money; If a potential customer calls, even if they are not sure about the move(which was not my case), FOLLOW-UP with them anyway, you might win them over by showing, YOU ACTUAL CARE about their needs and that their move is important. 3. Establish a system where any employee can schedule, confirm and follow-up with potential customers. James is not always available to answer the phone. My Holiday will be a memorable one for sure, my wife, special needs son and myself thank you for us living out of boxes and sleeping on air mattresses for this 4 of July. read more

We used this moving company back in May 2016. Big mistake. There were staffing issues because the amount of time needed wasn't calculated accurately, nor were the number of trucks. The people who were there were very friendly, but did not wrap any of the furniture, so just about every piece of wooden furniture we own was gouged, chipped or scratched during the move. Boxes that were clearly labeled with room names (the rooms were labeled with signs as well!) were put in random places throughout the house. (We even found a hamper full of clothes at the back of a top storage shelf in the basement, behind a pile of boxes, while rearranging everything.) After hearing good reviews from family members, we were shocked. We should have used the (non-local) moving company we had used for our past move. read more

Worst experience of my life. I would like to give them zero stars. They never came to my house to see what I had, but they had me go through my house room by room and tell them. They said they had a truck that could move a three bedroom house, and I only had a one bedroom that had furniture in it. Two other companies actually came to my house and gave me estimates of between seven and 800 for everything, but I ended up going with these guys. I sat out back with my dog, and my sister was up front if they had questions. I have The sweetest cat ever who is terrified of being outside. I had him in a cat crate on the front porch, The kind of carrier you take cats to the vet in. One of them asked if the cat was secure because he sounded vicious. He was meowing because he was terrified. After 2 1/2 hours they said they were done and we would meet at the other place. After they left I went inside and discovered that all of my appliances were still there including my stove refrigerator washer and dryer tons of storage cabinets and stuff in every room. When I got to my new place and asked them about it, they said I would have to call the boss. He said they just did not have enough room to move around, there was cat hair under some of the furniture they moved, there was not enough room in the new house to put stuff. It was the biggest bunch of bullshit I have ever heard in my life. I had huge cabinets that had not been moved in 20 years, so of course there was some cat hair under things, but it's not like it was some giant amount, and what the hell did they expect, that my house was going to be pristine after moving out furniture? I have an 1100 square-foot house and everything was packed up in boxes and ready to go, and the house they were taking it to had a wide-open basement, so the comments about not having the room to move stuff, I was just completely stunned with all of it. I think they need to work at a flower shop instead. The next day I discovered that my brand-new $50 chair cushion I had got a week earlier was missing from my computer chair. I left it on there so they would not be separated. I called and asked where it was and they said they would look and call me back, and I never heard another word from them. I looked through every single box I have and it is gone. I also had everything clearly marked which room it was supposed to go in, and I spent an entire day taking things from the basement to the kitchen and vice versa. I would rather have a root canal than deal with these people again. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. $720 and I still had half of a house to move. read more
