Duncan and Dustin showed up on time and did a great job. They worked really hard for two solid hours. The only surprise was being told that there was an extra $200 fee to move one item over 300 lbs. I hate surprises and declined. I had the truck for a few more days and found a neighbor who helped me move that one thing.

I learned that they operate completely separately and are franchised, yet the guys from the Rochester location clearly had a lot of pride in their location and the Two Men and a Truck name and were very disappointed to hear another location packed my u-pack truck the way they did. They seemed to work harder to make up for my experience in VT. They were extremely kind, friendly, worked to fix broken furniture if they could. Not to mention they were extremely efficient and finished before they estimated it would take. The manager also called and was friendly and helpful as well! The crew showed up on time, were very polite and knew their job. Upon arrival to our new house everything was put in the correct room, all the beds, tables, dressers & mirrors, etc. were put together and set-up. This was a big move, so I received a few different quotes and ultimately chose TWO MEN AND A TRUCK as the movers. Worse mistake of my life....here is why: * Despite my warning them numerous times about underestimating the move, they did just that. It took 5 hours longer than they thought, needed more trucks and guys and ended up costing double what they quoted. During the estimate meeting, I even told them not to underbid and showed them every closet, every storage room and said this is a 3400 square foot house that is full...plan for it. Nope...they did not. * They broke a glass shelf in a large glass curio cabinet during the move. Had me fill out the paperwork and said they would get it replaced and handled. Two months later and still nothing. * They broke a TV because they did not wrap any of the tvs despite being asked multiple times to do so. They were to pay me for that. Two months later and still nothing. Every time I contact them, I get the 'oh we are so sorry...we are working on it'. When I complain about the cost doubling 'that is just what can happen with estimates'. So, my word of advice. Do NOT trust TWO MEN AND A TRUCK!!!

The move took place over three days; Day 1, pack, Day 2, load and drive to Illinois, Day 3, unload. Throughout the three days, all the people involved in the process were friendly, courteous, and conscientious. After unloading the truck, they carefully reassembled items that had to be broken down for packing including our 150-year-old grandfather's clock. When the day came to actually get packed and moved it was anything but. It was supposed to be a 2 day job, that turned into 3 days. On the first day 3 people showed up, 4 HOURS LATE. Only 1 of them worked the other 2 that showed up slept in the truck for 2 hours or so before they even lifted a finger. The 2 people that were sleeping in the truck, The OWNER AND HIS WIFE. When they finally all started working they took a break about every 30 minutes meanwhile charging us by the hour. A couple other people showed up and one of them needed to use the restroom, I'm fine with that, when you gotta go you gotta go. But he was nice enough to clog the toilet with what looked like about a half a roll of toilet paper and didn't say anything about it. The toilet ran all night and flooded the bathroom which leaked through the floor into the laundry room and resulted in the ceiling getting damaged and had to be repaired 3 days before closing on the house. They packed numerous things we told them not to that needed to stay with the house, and didn't load everything that needed to go. They loaded the table top but not the legs, only loaded 2 out of 4 of the patio chairs, and multiple delicate and fragile things showed up on the other end damaged. My daughter had a white board that wouldn't fit in the box they were trying to put it in so they FOLDED IT IN HALF. We had a some copper stamped artwork from Africa that was ROLLED up. Every box I open I find more and more things damaged from careless packing. Chaz kept telling us he was the best, and he is. THE BEST AT WRECKING YOUR BELONGINGS. I will never use them again and I would not recommend them to anyone.

The response from Jacobson's is filled with inaccuracies. Accommodating the lift chair was an option offered to Jacobson's for their men to move items before the lift chair was installed in the new home to make it easier for them. The offer was accepted by Patii because she acknowledged that it was to their advantage. As such, there was no discussion of an increase in time and cost. As far as not providing the second truck as agreed upon, the one truck we had was a rental because the moving crew said that their trucks were not maintained well. The pool table was partially disassembled by me with no detail as to how much additional disassembly was needed prior to the move. Since Pati advised me on the day of the move that they were not moving the pool table, there was no need for additional disassembly. The pool table was eventually moved by another company without any additional disassembly. The crew began loading shortly after they arrived. There was no mention by anyone at Jacobson's related to the house not being ready. When I questioned the excessive charge after the move was complete Pati made no mention of any delay and commented that the extra charge was due to "a few little things were added" with no more detail available. There was no reference to any delay or mention of any pictures. One of my mistakes was to unwisely pay the bill prior to the resolution of any issues including the overcharging and the items damaged in the move. I will not make that mistake again! Our move was in November, and I delayed my review until January to allow sufficient time for Jacobson's to respond to my damaged items request. Pati and I communicated frequently both before and during the move via phone and email. I contacted Pati while the moving crew was still at our home to advise her of the damage and that the crew was aware of the damage. She responded that she would be out the following week, but she never showed up. I phoned and emailed my concern about various aspects of the move. There is no record of any attempt to contact me by any means afterwards. They also know where to easily find me in person. Jacobsen can make any response they desire. I stand by my review and advise potential customers to also take note of the many other one-star reviews and come to their own conclusion.

This company is run by thieves who own a truck…read more Pati quoted us a reasonable price after a walkthrough and so we booked with them. Their movers showed up late and didn't coordinate with each other and so they sat around waiting on the clock. Despite packing and moving things myself, despite dropping most of the stuff off in the garage and us having to move it in the house ourselves, they still overcharged by 50% of the high end of the quote. They knocked off pennies on their boxes and tape (which are charged many times the going rate for supplies) as an added insult. Once they stuck us with the bill the movers said they figured the quote was too low as soon as they walked in the door. I called back to give them a chance to respond. They asked what would make things right and I told them all it would take would be to honor their quote. Pati said she'd ask the movers and wanted nothing to do with taking responsibility for the quote. She emailed back and said there was a family emergency. Then she stopped answering my calls.
