This is the worst library to study at. Don't waste your time going here. I would give zero stars if I could. It's hot. There are few outlets. There are few places to sit. The staff are condescending. It's loud from children talking and dogs barking. I've gone to this library twice now and was not happy with either visit. Although the space looks like it has a lot of tables, there are very few with outlets to plug a laptop into. The first time I came, I was able to find only one available table with an outlet because I came shortly after they opened. That time and this time, the library was extremely loud. There were so many children running around and screaming. This time, there was even a dog barking and running around too. I just went to the library again today and was not able to find a single available table to sit at. The only empty seats were where the computers were. Only a couple of the computers were being used, which left 6 empty spots. I didn't really want to sit there since I already had my own laptop, but it was the only open table. I shifted the keyboard to the side and made do with the small space. Since there were plenty of computers still available next to me, I didn't think it would be a problem to sit there. Boy was I wrong. A woman with glasses approached me maybe 15 minutes after I sat down and told me that those spots were meant for people who were going to use their computers. When I told her that there were no more tables and that there were plenty of available seats still next to me, she condescendingly told me that I'm the one to ever argue with her because everyone else usually just moves. I told her that I would move if someone needed the computer. She again said I had to move then walked away without another word. Since there were no other available spots to sit at, I had to leave the library. This woman was not just condescending to me by the way. Right when I first sat down, the same woman was speaking to a man by the printers. The way she was speaking to him was equally condescending. I didn't want to listen in on their conversation, but her tone was really mean and obnoxious as she told him he was wrong about something. She was speaking to him in a way that felt like she was absolutely looking down on him. I hope upper management has a word with her about her customer service skills because they are terrible. My last note is about the temperature of the library. It's really hot outside, so I thought it would be nice to study where there's an A/C. Although it was slightly cooler than outside, it was still pretty warm in there. It did not feel that much more comfortable than studying outside. I don't think it was warm just because there were a lot of people because it was equally warm the first time I went too(right when they opened). read more

This is small quaint library that is located in Rosemead. It's part of the Los Angeles County, so it uses the same library card under this umbrella. [This is not to be mistaken with Los Angeles (city) Public Library.] There is plenty of parking that can be accessed from Muscatel Ave. There are a lot of charging stations for electric vehicles. There is a QR code to scan to pay PowerFlex. The book drop boxes are also in the parking lot. This library is closed Sundays and Mondays. Overall the library is very clean, not cluttered. I think this is because they don't overcrowd the library with too many shelves. There are bathrooms, water fountains with a refill station, and a conference room in the lobby. Beside the kids section, there is the teen section, some computers, and tables scattered around. There is separate area called the Asian Pacific Resource Center. This is the only San Gabriel Valley location within the LA County Public Library system that lends tools. And if you haven't heard of this program, you're really missing out. The fact that you can borrow power tools, bike repairs, musical instruments, cooking & baking equipment, just to name a few, FREE of charge is amazing! I have personally borrowed many items on multiple occasions and saved myself from spending money on tools that I only need once. Things you need to know about the tool lending program: - must be over 18 years old - can rent up to 7 tools - you can keep it up to a week (except musical instruments) - have to fill out form for each tool borrowed And the person you would speak to is the actual librarian. (Not the staff working at the checkout counter.) During each of my visits, the librarians have been friendly and helpful. As for the library itself, it's not the newest of establishment but it is well maintained. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. There's even electric charging stations for electric vehicles. However, if you're looking for a quiet place to study, this location is not it. Every time that I've been in there, the children are pretty loud. The Storytime teacher for toddlers is amazing!!! The library is wonderful and has great learning toys for the children. However, I took my toddler in today for story time , and the parents were carrying on with full (and loud) conversations in there! They're louder than the children and it's very distracting. If they're going to talk, they need to sit outside. The wonderful teacher has to speak louder and louder not because of the kids but because of these parents! read more

I have frequented this location a few times to utilize their free tool lending program which is what sets it apart from local libraries nearby. The most popular item appears to be their pressure washer. You can borrow other tools too, like even a hammer, lol. While LA county libraries are not my top go-to library due to the availability of books / availability of new books, their tool lending program that is unique to this particular location is why I come back. Had a good experience at this library. Everyone's friendly and helpful. However, the downside is you have to worry about some questionable homeless people who may take a long time in the bathroom. They were all relatively harmless, however, I would say make sure to plan ahead. The selection is good however, some of the books that I was expecting there were Delayed. Weekly variety activities for kids to enjoy. Staffs are nice and friendly. Kids have so much learnings from art and crafts beside reading books. Areas are clean and neat as always. This library is definitely an asset to the community. They have a great selection of everything and put fine effort into the Children's book and Asian history section. I was pleased to recently attend the Asian cinema history month in the meeting room. Katrina did a fine job going into detail with the films. The librarians are helpful whether to need assistance with a card or to check something out. They have quiet spaces for studying and plenty of computers and printers for internet usage. Sometimes I do need earplugs if people are talking but it's never too much for me. Be careful in the parking lot backing up because it's on the compact side. This location is close to the Target and restaurants and there's also a reasonably priced and efficient dentist across the street! read more

I love this library and I grew up coming here every day when I was in middle school. Not only is this place great for books but they provide resources such as computers, movies, and plenty of tables and chairs to sit and study. There is also a children's section in the library where there are smaller chairs and picture books. My favorite thing about this library is that they have computers where you can print up to 10 free pages per day -- you just need a library card for this. All of the librarians are also helpful and available. Although, I will say that I have not checked out a book in a long time, but I believe all of the check out process is self-checkout with the machines in front. There's plenty of parking at the library and there's also a drive through drop off for the books. read more

I had to move my family back to El Monte to help my mother out for almost a year. During this time, i found the resources at the Rosemead Library to be tremdously helpful. Specifically, photocopy, printing, internet for me and kid's crafts, learning computer stations, check out privilege for my 6 & 8 year old. The library had so much to do to educate while entertaining them, they always looked forward to our little trip. When i first starting going there, Khanh was super helpful in letting me know all about the services and rules of the library. He was really in a way my friend, so i felt at ease and a friendly vibe. During this COVID-19 Pandemic, Rosemead Library is currently offering a Sidewalk Service Mondays - Fridays in which library users could pick up holds and print documents. This is all done very safely as they have a table that's set up outside. All the library workers that I have interacted with (in person and over the phone) have been so nice and helpful. So a huge thank you to them for being so helpful and providing these services for the community during this time! Also if you don't already have a library card, you can still sign up for one or you could sign up for a digital library card (which allows you to check out 15 ebooks at a time). I have definitely been taking advantage of this free service because it's so easy and allows you immediate access to books! read more

The Rosemead Library is much more quiet now, at least during school hours. Even during these hours back then when there's no children, the adults inside the library were loud and obnoxious. Cell phones constantly ring, men and women talking really loud, and even the staff themselves were a bit rude. Hopefully they weren't provoked into their unprofessional attitudes. I hope the quiet ambiance stays like this so I can get work done without distractions at the office. What a huge difference compared to before. Please stay this way... at least before the children comes in. read more

Yes! My favorite library! I have came here since when I was a small child. You can find different sections of books, from children, to teens and adults! There are comfortable chairs to sit and read magazines and newspapers that are available, great place for seniors to sit and relax. It is a very convenient library located on Valley Blvd, right in front of the community center and right next to the city hall. There is also a bus stop outside of the library. There are plenty of seats, and it is usually packed in the afternoons, and sometimes always. The employees are friendly and I usually come here right after school to do my work. The power strip under the table is connected to itself, that means no power. Minus 1 star. The children are screaming as they are having a lot of fun. Why are children screaming in a library. Librarians and the entire staff are not maintaining the noise level. Minus 1 star. How do we fire LA county librarians who don't do their jobs? People (adults) are talking on their cell phone. The rude white guy with the long hair and beard working for the Rosemead Library has anger issues. I was putting tape on a label for less than 5 minutes and he already confronted me to be quiet. I told him I was already done and I'm leaving so he nitpicked about me putting the tape on the table. By this time, I cleaned up everything I was working on. If the minor noise for less than 5 minutes was not inconvenient enough, this rude white guy wanted to nitpick about the table when it was already cleaned. Please fire this guy. Rosemead library has been a great place for me to get reading done as a college student. The Asian Pacific Islander Resource Center has been a major reason why I came in the first place, but the breadth of resources, from biographies to finance and fiction has kept me engaged. I have had the pleasure of being helped out by the manager, Sue, and another worker, Khanh, both of whom do their best to help me find things I am looking for, and oftentimes things I didn't even know I wanted! It's also socially distanced for the most part. One suggestion I'd have is to give out more sanitizing wipes to clean the surfaces like desks and books as well. read more

This used to be awesome library with a lot of things going on. I recently came back to get some work done at this library. In the beginning, I was getting a lot of work done then kids got out of school & more people started to show up. You can find people talking loudly and some kids running around. Luckily, I had my headphone with me so I was able to continue doing my work without getting too annoyed with the loud noises. I really enjoy going to this library because the staffs are very helpful. Khanh Phung is alway helpful when I need his help with copy, and print out my homework. Every time I call for help with copy and look for book, Phung come immediately to help with with finding book. I am thankful for Phung dedicated work at this Rosemead library. Excuse me, but i thought a library was supposed to be quiet? Somewhere you can sit and hear your own thoughts? When I came to this library, I was sadly mistaken. There were groups of elderly people speaking as loudly as they could--I suppose because they were hard of hearing.. but this is a library, not the weekly mahjong get together you have at your relative's house. There were also groups of young children running around, screaming, and making a complete fuss while I was trying to enjoy a good read. So with all the noise, you would think there would be someone going around controlling the noise level of this library, but there isn't. I have also experienced some rudeness at this library. I'm not sure whether it was because it was a certain day, but the people at the front desk are no where close to being helpful. They glance at you and give you attitude.. I understand being a librarian is an under appreciated job and is hard at times, but there should be no need for rudeness. One last thing that peeved me were their small selection of books. Their computers are linked to the whole Los Angeles County library system which makes it hard to find books because even though it says they have a book you want, it's probably located in a library far away in Narnia. Free daycare, DVD rental, tutoring facility all wrapped into one! All at the expense of the taxpayer. Need a quiet space to read? Forget it! Now that they've eliminated morning hours, it's a zoo the moment it opens. The staff is mostly unapproachable and sees library patrons as inconveniences. I don't blame them, because most everyone there doesn't actually read! Might as well extend the rec center into the library, eliminate all the books, and call it a public meeting hall. No one would notice the difference. People who read use kindles. The library is an antiquated public service, just like the post office. Let's rethink the space as something else the entire community needs. read more

I come here mostly for the children's story time. I took my kids everywhere for story times and I think Ms. Lynn is one of the best. She gets kids involved with singing and reading and her enthusiasm is contagious. You can tell she loves children. I also love that the family room is in a complete separate room from the main library so the children can be themselevs without embarrassed the parents :) Only part I really dislike is everyone seem to love the story time here so it is always crowded. read more

I enjoy taking my son to the library's tiny tot's story time. It such a great program for the community. Every time I go the library it is so pack to see the instructor Lynn. She sing songs, read stories, and help babies learn their shapes, colors, alphabets and numbers at an early age. Lynn had such a great personality and is great at what she does. She's just extraordinary!!! I highly recommend taking your child. When the story time was over there's crafting activities or your child can play with toys. It's a great opportunity for kids to socialize. read more

Si very helpful for me when I come in to print out or copy some paper work. I really like the fact that they don't charge us for those services, I come from Topeka Kansas and we don't get charged for stuff like that. Nothing beats Kansas services right now but Rosemead is second best to home right about now. read more
