Christiano runs the house, he is charismatic, fun, and a joker. Francesca runs the kitchen with attention and care. Ask about specials, she will explain, and excitedly (but also kind of bashfully) recommend what is really good that day (also, her English is very good if you need help ordering).
Everything is good, so, get what you like. Our party of six shared everything we ordered. 3 appetizers, 2 main dishes at 3 portions of each, 4 desserts, rosato wine, limoncello, and coffee. If you really like tiramisu, get it here. If you really like mushrooms, get whatever the special is, with mushrooms. I had tagliatella with seasonal mushrooms But, I w, and it may have ruined me for other mushroom dishes.
Highlights for me: bread bites with truffles and sauce, the only polenta I have ever liked, (I don't even like polenta, but I liked THIS polenta), and the tiramisu (it was heavenly).
We finished with a walk around the small town, and a drive through the countryside.
It is a cute small country town, but the reason to make Borgotaro a stop on your trip to Italy... Vecchio Borgo hands down.
