Let me just begin this review by saying LA color is simply amazing! We started working with Taky 3-month before our wedding, b/c we wanted to create a cute little clip to tell our love story at our wedding. Some of our guests are our parents' friends, so they don't necessarily know me and my husband that well. I showed Taky an only clip I liked and had a few ideas myself, but had no idea how to execute them at all. Taky was so patient listening to my ideas and brainstorming with us. My husband and I obviously are not professional actors, so I was worried that the clip would come out to be super awkward. However, Taky's easygoing personality and sense of humor made the filming process very fun and easy. We were laughing the whole time while we filmed, and were even able to incorporate our dog in our video which really meant a lot to us! The final product definitely exceeded my expectation and it was a huge hit at our wedding! On our wedding day, the whole team (3 photographers and 2 videographers) showed up earlier than their appointment time to capture our makeup session and wedding prep. That was such a nice gesture and I was not expecting it at all. Taky and Sam, having been through countless weddings before, have their unique eyes and ways in capturing the spirit of the wedding. They simply get it and show sincere appreciation of the amount of work the bride puts into the wedding, so they captured an incredible amount of details that otherwise would have been missed. My wedding was a Chinese/American fusion wedding and I love every single moment they captured for me during the tea ceremony. long overdue... sorry it took this long but this review is for the videography I LOVE the final product. You just gotta trust Taky. He did an amazing job editing and putting everything together. For the price I paid, this is totally worth it. He didn't waste a single part of the dvd, he asked for slideshows, engagement pictures, etc. I just love how I can take out the dvd and watch it and it has everything! We got married in October 2012, but we wanted to wait until we got all our products before reviewing. A Photo Booth, Lighting, 2 photographers and 2 videographers is what we paid for. ( The whole she-bang) we got way more than we bargained for. -Lighting: We were sold on the lighting because we wanted that little extra kick to the look of wedding. We already knew that their equipment was state of the art and packaged nicely. What we got was on a whole different level. Our package came with a custom Gobo projection to be placed behind us. Custom to the point that it was more than just our name, it was our logo. Because our venue allowed it, LA Color ended up mounting the lighting on the ceiling instead of placing lights everywhere. It was a good thing too because the venue's dimmer function on the lighting system didn't work very well, so LA color told them just to turn it off, and we only used LA Color lighting all night long. The effect was a magical display of lights that flashed and changed color with the music, but still allowed everybody to see perfectly. It made our wedding look like a million dollars. -Photobooth: Everybody had fun with this thing and we got to see all of it. The machine was very classy and had many options. They even customed the footer of the prints with our names and logo. Props were supplied, two copies of each picture was given, even a scrapbook was supplied for us. Best two things were a) the quality of each picture was just as sharp as if there were a real photographer taking each picture & b) they were immediately given to us online, so we got to see everyone's funniest moments. (Haha! You thought you could hide that from us!) - Photographer: Our package came with two photographers. We knew that a good photographer obviously needed to take good pictures. Sam and his assistant definitely did that. Hands down. What makes LA Color different is their approach. The best pictures are the ones of everyone having a great time. These guys specialize in candid shots. (They are like Photo Ninjas) After the wedding, we received over 5,000 pictures to choose from. Any and every kind of shots imaginable were taken. Even the retouches to our final 200 pictures had elements added that made everything look better than we remembered. - Videographer: Taky is one funny guy. He doesn't just film, he'll get everyone involved. He'll get people to laugh, have even more fun and made our DVD something that we were able to enjoy with all our friends and family. Our DVD had highlights, bloopers, slideshows and a few other surprises that I'll let you find out for yourselves. Our favorite thing about our video wasn't just remembering our big day, but seeing everyone having a great time. Laughing, smiling, kissing . . . yeah we saw it all. Team work: Our favorite thing about this company and why we will recommend them to everyone. The best line of the day was, "How many photographers do they have, 20?!" One of our aunts said this. When shopping for a photographer/videographer, we saw some good things and we saw some bad things, but the one consistent was that we kept seeing one or the other in each other's media. Their crew made it their mission to make sure that everything looked great. That means the "photo ninja" concept really applied. I think I only saw Sam the photographer once on our DVD. I didn't see Taky in any of the pictures. Even all their assistants, the entire team, wears a simple black uniform with a logo. Easily ignorable. I met Taky in a trade show in Las Vegas. I was looking for a good strong lighting package for my camera. I wanted to go professional and not cheap in regards to my film equipments. I did a lot of price shopping and Internet research before purchasing a lighting package. The better on camera lights cost $600 +. When I saw Taky's Comer lights I was very interested. It is similar to the Sony Light, but cost just half of the price that Sony charges you. I bought the Comer Lights and ever since then I m very happy with it. The production value of my movies / videos went up. It is so important to have good lighting on set. I also refer a friend to Taky. He bought the Comer lights as well & also he is very happy with it. When my husband and I got married, we decided that the one thing we would not skimp on was the pictures and video. I found LA Color through Yelp, and with all my research, settled on them. The biggest reason was that we were having a mixed wedding -- Chinese in the morning and American in the afternoon with a Chinese reception -- so I really wanted someone that knew etiquette for everything. I e-mailed them, and it seems that Taky is a night owl like I am. With very quick e-mails replies, we ended up on the phone at something like 11pm discussing pricing and how I could visit on my next trip down from WA to Cali (the wedding was in Cali). That left me with an incredibly good first impression. Taky was very easy to talk to, extremely friendly, and it definitely sounded like he would value my business. He also talked to me about hiring Sam, who's the photography half of LA Color, and the way he spoke showed a great respect for his partner. In the days leading up to the wedding, Taky checked in with me a few times to make sure he knew exactly what was going on at what time and where. He didn't just ask when to show up. He wanted the entire schedule of the day. On the day, Taky and Sam arrived right on time with their crews. Because my honey didn't know anything about Chinese customs (he's half white, half Japanese), Taky and Sam gave him tips and instructions so he wasn't completely lost. So helpful! My wife and I got married in May 2012, but resisted writing this review until we received the final product and had time to peruse over the content. Note that most of the delay was probably our fault -- we did not get everything Taky asked until about early December, and received the final products in early March (which, of course, we loved). We were referred to Taky by our wedding coordinator, Phyllis. In total we approached three videographers for wedding videography, and we were initially impressed with the details that Taky went into answering our questions in emails. During our wedding planning process It was amazing how difficult it is to get people to answer a bullet-pointed list of question point by point. Taky did just that and then some -- it was educational to correspond with Taky on emails. Of course, on the wedding day Taky was wonderful. He was funny, easy to work with, and went beyond just his duty as a videographer by giving occasional suggestions about what we can do to entertain the guests. His interaction with the guests to prepare the blooper section of the video was also particularly important for us. In a way, we're not just paying for a person to record the event of the day, but also to provide another aspect of the wedding festivities that the guests can also enjoy. After the wedding day in the US, we were able to get Taky to make the coming-soon video and photo session slideshow to play in our receptions in Taiwan and HK. The final product we got also features bilingual menu options and dual sound-tracks (often with a Chinese song of our choosing), so that we can easily share our DVD/blurays with our relatives overseas. All in all we were impressed with Taky and would highly recommend him. It felt a bit expensive when we were doing our initial searches but in the end it was definitely worth the money. The concept that in wedding videography you are paying more for a shorter clip could seem odd initially, but I think you will like the final product much better than just a concatenation of clips that captures your full wedding day. read more

Sam from LA Color made our day simply spectacular and I don't believe we would have had such a wedding without them. After reading a bunch of positive reviews, we went ahead and ordered the photo classic package. I was little worried at first because I thought we may be the unlucky ones and get unsatisfactory service but that was just me being a paranoid bride-to-be! After having a little chat with Sam, I felt reassured that this was going to be a fantastic event and we even went on to hire the photobooth too. Sam was extremely polite, sociable and professional. He knew how to work the crowd and was able to control a big group. He was very creative with his shots and they came out really well in the end. We needed a little retouching on a few photos and he was a pro at that too. We had over 1,000 high resolution pictures to choose from. The photobooth was star of the show! The kids loved it and so did we. You get a preview of the pose before it takes the picture, which was cool. You also get to choose between a color or black & white photo. I was expecting photobooth pictures to not be anything special but it produced high quality photos. The booth was stylish too and blended in with our theme. Sam and Taky are definitely an A+ team. We were very happy to have them take pictures and video of our wedding. They are awesome to work with. A few years back I was getting ready & planning out all them lil details to make our wedding perfect. A colleague of mine was telling me about an excellent photographer/videographer who did his wedding and put together an AWESOME animated video montage so he lent me his wedding DVD to check out. I was astounded at how flawless the music integrated w/ the story telling of the two lovebirds via pictures floating over their bobbleheads as clouds; depicting the memories of how they met. I tried right away to contact Taky to book him for my wedding (this is 2 months prior) but sadly he was already taken for my special day. I opted to hire another videographer and specified for him to get as much video footage as possible since I wanted Taky to do the editing for me. My jaw dropped when I discovered that horrid videographer only captured a little over 2 hrs for a full day's wedding. After giving Taky the few tapes collected, I was VERY VERY VERY thrilled when i saw the final results; esp w/ what little footage Taky had to work off of. I was just sad I couldn't book Taky in time for the job otherwise I know it would've been waaaay better! I got married last year and boy, were we glad we had Taky as our videographer! A friend whose wedding he filmed recommended him, and we liked him the moment we met him. There's just something about Taky that makes you feel so at ease with him. We interviewed other videographers, but we just didn't click with them the way we did with Taky. Plus we were confident with the quality of his work. He and his assistant James were professional, prompt, and helpful during our wedding day. They arrived early and even helped us blow up balloons to decorate the house. Throughout the day, they worked tirelessly and always had a smile on their faces. I was happy with all of my vendors, but guests kept coming up to me and telling me how much they liked Taky. They reported that he was very persistent in getting them to give us their dedications. You can see in the bloopers section how Taky made some reluctant guests feel at ease to the point where they were willing to speak in front of the camera. My husband and I really appreciated this persistence, because then we wouldn't get to see/hear all the lovely wishes from our guests. I just used Taky as my video guy for my wedding this past Saturday 5-28-11. He was the best. I originally saw his work from my friend and thought ok I have to use this guy. His rate is a bit higher than every other videographer on Las Tunas in San Gabriel but man Taky is the best. He was very funny, interacted very well with my guest...I have not yet received the finished product yet however I am confident that I will be blown away. I chose the Blu Ray disc because this is a one in lifetime and I wanted the best. I put more money on my Video because alot of people I know had camera but not Video. I used Taky from LA Color as our wedding videographer. We know some people think that photographer is enough for wedding. A videographer is not necessary, but it was to me. My grandma lives in Indonesia, and she was too old to travel to attend the wedding. I need something professionally done so that she can watch our wedding. Later on, my husband's grandparents had to leave early as well because husband's grandma was feeling sick, so we were glad that they would be able to catch the rest of the day on the DVD. And we totally made the right decision! During the wedding day, Taky and his assistant were professional, friendly, and very interactive with the guests. He has a lot of experience especially with Chinese style wedding (tea ceremony and Chinese banquet). He gives suggestions through out the wedding day to make the video more memorable. But he's not only good in Chinese wedding, my wedding ceremony is actually a Catholic mass in a church in Pasadena. He moves around the church very respectfully, and we didn't even notice he was there. This weekend, we just received our wedding video. That was what made me write this review. The video was great!!! We popped it in the DVD player and watched the whole thing again! There were so many things going on that we missed during the wedding day. He interviewed a LOT of guests to give their messages to us. Besides the wedding itself, he also created extra features such as bloopers, dedications, photo sessions, etc etc. It was almost like watching a movie...!! We were laughing soo hard watching the reception because everyone was just drunk and having a great time.... Another great feature was that he made an option so that the DVD can be easily translated into three different language with a touch of a button (Indonesian, Chinese, and English). How awesome is THAT...!!! Before he finalized the DVD he gave me a sheet of paper to translate so that he can add all the Indonesian into the DVD. I am very happy with Taky. My wife and I did not plan on hiring videographers for our wedding. Originally, we might just ask one of our friends to do video recording during the big day. Since we have many relatives and friends in our home town could not join our wedding in LA, we decided to re-considerate to hire videographers. Also, many friends of mine strongly recommended us to hire videographers instead of asking friends' favor, since editing video was an annoying task. Also, there was a high risk that we would never get back the edited video not even the unedited one. Finally, we decided to spend money on hiring videographer. After we were asking our married friends where we find a videographer, quite a lot of our friends hired LA color as their videographer and photographer in the past coincidently. Turned out I scheduled an appointment with Taky from LA color in Pasadena to see the demo. He showed me several demos and service plans. I can see that Taky treated this job that is not just working but also enjoying the art. If you took his service, pretty much you could find some extra/bonus in the product. Very great and nice surprise! They are also continuously improving their equipments following the technologies right away. He also shared his experience of recording video in wedding ceremonies. I could see that he had a lot of experience in many different places, situation, setting, ......... . He also reminded us so many things regarding the wedding. He and his team are very professional. From the video, we found that Taky put a lot of extra effort to record so many extra that was outside the wedding ceremony but related the wedding day. We got married last November. We were referred by our friend about L.A. Color. Hiring the dynamic duo (Taky and Sam) was one of the better choices we made for our wedding. They were very helpful, and always promptly answered our questions. Both of them were very professional and willing to work with us on various options and packages. They worked from the beginning til the very end. Unfortunately all the wedding party didn't all show up on time, so Sam made conscientious efforts to stay a bit later to make sure we have more than enough pictures to select from for our album. At our wedding, we had the video service, lighting and photo booth from LA Color Production. I have to say that the chemistry of these services was one of the major elements which made our wedding a big success. The lighting really sets the tone in ballroom. I also love the change of lighting color on the walls which created different mood. OMG, that photo booth was a big hit. The line at the photo booth was actually longer than the line of our guests who wants to take pix with us. Those props are so popular and everyone put on a wig or a gigantic hat, etc. Our guests who range from 3 years old to 70some enjoyed the booth without a doubt. Last but not least, Taky and his video crew were amazing. Taky was not only a talented videographer; he was also great in creating the atmosphere at our wedding which made our guests laugh. Our wedding DVD proves that Taky has tremendous passion towards his work. He puts a lot of thoughts in our video which captures all the precious moments. I would highly recommend LA Color to anyone who is looking for professional photographer and videographer. Sam, Taky and their team are very professional. My wife and I used their service for both wedding and engagement session. We also used their photobooth and lighting services. Everything has turned out awesome. My wife and I did not hire a wedding planner nor a wedding day of coordinator. But everything turned out great because LA Color team is very professional and they are very experience in this industry and they provided me a lot of good recommendation, for example, they will remind you on certain post or scene on what you should do so that they can take some good and important shoot or scene. There are many more recommendation that they have provided and it is just hard to describe them all here. They also helped me on other areas which is not their responsibilities while I was stressed out on other matter since we did not hire a wedding planner. In addition, I had made a lot of requests and their team is very patient and cooperates with our request patiently. For the engagement session, which my wife and I took the pictures at Lagura Beach. The pictures has turned out fantastic even before the pictures were be re-touched. After the re-touch, nothing that I will need to say and you will know the answer. As for the wedding session, all the pictures has turned out to be wonderful . In addition to their focus shooting at the married couple or their friends and family, there are many professional shoots that at our wedding decoration from ceremony site to wedding banquet site or at the bride's accessories or dresses that I believe they looked very beautiful. My wife has been looking the pictures night in and night out and never get bored which I really want to start complaining to her. For the video service, we have not received the product yet, but I am expecting a very professional and great product based on the comments that I read here. However, we have added the photo montage slideshow package, I would highly recommend you on this as it turned out fantastic. We have exchanged a lot of ideas with Taky and he was very patient and provided us a lot of recommendation. Our montage slideshow turned out wonderful and there are a lot of animations that I don't think I can able to produce it if I am making on my own. My original plan did not want to add that package just to save some money as I believe I can do it myself easily. However, after I looked at the final product, I believe that there are no ways that I can produce it, especially there is a lot of animation effect. Lastly, something turned out surprise me is that the looping slideshow included in that package, I was just giving a iphone effect idea and LA color helped me to make it an ipad idea that I have never thought of, plus the looping slideshow has include my wife name and my name at the bottom of the screen so that it become our backdrop to show it throughout the night at the wedding banquet. This is something that I have never thought of as well, which turned out very good. For the photobooth service, their photobooth appearance and pictures are professional and we are highly recommend them because I have been to my friend's wedding and they are also paying the same price (which I believe is very standard out there), but their photobooth appearance and picture print out quality look very unprofessional (I would say they just put a few piece of wood and a video camera and then make it a booth). When I compared the photobooth picture that we took with LA color to my friend's vendor, LA Color's pictures are very beautiful, including the color and clarity. Finally, for the lighting services, I did not have anything to worry as their lighting had made our wedding banquet become a very romantic event. I was very disappointment it rained on my wedding day so that we had to move the ceremony from outdoor to indoor. However, when the evening time come and the wedding banquet begin, when I walked into the ballroom, everything has been made up and I have never seen such a beautiful lighting effect that I would have seen before. I will make a long story short here, I would highly recommend LA Color to anyone who is planning on their wedding. read more
