We have stayed at the Inn and eaten here at least eight times over the years and are going back again in a few weeks. We always order the fondue which is made fresh by real Swiss Germans who know what they're doing. Stay here if you are driving to Montreal from New England. The rate is $95 plus you get a 10% discount with AAA. Have a great dinner, drink a bottle of wine, stumble up to your room, wake up to a wonderful European style breakfast, hike the paths through their acreage, and then take off for Montreal which is about an hour's drive. I have to mention that the rooms are no frills but have TVs unlike many B&Bs. You are right on Rt 133 so you must be prepared to hear the trucks go by on the highway. They are all on the second floor which means you might have accessibility issues. My rating of 5 stars is for the complete package (dinner, room, breakfast). You might forget your stay at the Frontenac or the Ritz, but you'll never forget the romantic little nook you found in Pike River.

Inside is very typical of a Swiss-style chalet, with a log cabin-esque exterior. In the lobby is an assortment of fondues, chocolates and jams. On each door is a name of a different Swiss city (Bern, Zurich, Geneve, etc.) and the rooms are immaculate. The beds are super comfortable on wooden frames, and there were no signs of bedbugs whatsover, even under the mattresses. Set in a very rural, remote Quebec town, but the view of the cornfields in the morning is incredible! There is a full continental breakfast in the morning starting at 8am I believe. Excellent place to stay if traveling from Vermont to Montreal. Tip: use AAA card for a 10% discount.

As a fondue lover I had to try this place after my friend went. I've been talking about it to my…read moreboyfriend and of course he surprised me on Valentine's Day awww! Fondissimo is attached to another resto called le shop you just gotta go to the left and behind and you'll see a projected image of the name on the wall, hard to miss. We were greeted by a tall male hostess who gave us a great seat by the window with loads of candles ( my fav ) We of course got the cheese fondue and Chinese fondue because that's the way to go. Unfortunately the cheese fondue wasn't very good, tasted like an iga store bought one. We got traditional so if I were to come back I would skip the cheese entirely or try something else that didn't taste so generic. It is BYOW so I wasn't expecting the cheese to be grade a like in Paris. Chinese fondue was great, we went with the marinated pork and beef slices. Pork takes a while to cook so that's a bit annoying but the beef cooked within seconds. If you're feeling more adventurous you can get all the fun meats, kangaroo, camel and etc. We didn't talk and appetizers as nothing really jumped out at us. But we decided that dessert to go was a must. We chose the cheese cake which was a really good home made cream cheese, with a crumble crust which was perfect. The restaurant and service was great but at the end their was a mix up with the tip so they emailed us right away because the tip was more then our meal. That was very nice of them and just for that reason only they get 4 stars. 5 stars if they get a real cheese fondue :)

I liked the duck and beef slices the best. The tartar as an entree was good as well. Service by our waitress Florence was the best part of the meal. It's nice that it is a BYOB.

They have a good sandwich, cheese and chocolate fondues as well as a mini hotpot experience. It's local is great to just walk in from a day of exploring the city and the meal is filling and hearty. We had: - la charlevoix: crepe with stuffed ham, cheese, spinach, with bechamel sauce - la speciale delice: crepe stuffed with eggs, ham, bacon, cheese, mushrooms - cafe viennois: viennese coffee with whipped cream and chocolate The crepes were filling and was a great breakfast/lunch option and with the table side maple syrup, nothing could taste any better. They have a massive space for many tables and seats, the service is fast and food comes out quick. We didn't see anyone go for the fondues or the mini hotpot, but it is an interesting surprise to see it on the menu. Great place for a tour group or just to get off your feet and out of the weather.

But the actual crepes were just okay, nothing really mind-blowing for the price you pay in this touristy area. It's a decent spot if you're nearby and want a quick sweet fix, but the overall experience was just a bit mid.

I'm not kidding when I say - and my traveling partners agree- this was the best food and drink we put in our mouths our entire trip! This popular brewery was definitely worth the revisit for their high quality food and drinks, with a major perk being that it is open everyday and doesn't close between mealtimes. The Tall Man and I came during semi-off hours, first for a late lunch and later for an afternoon snack/drink. They have a large outside deck with a great view of the lake, but we opted to sit in their cozy dining room both times. We visited with baby in tow, first with a stroller and once without. The accessible entrance was not very obvious (we noticed it only after our second visit) and it was covered in snow. There are several steps leading to the porch and main entrance. The host was gracious enough to find a table that could fit a stroller next to it, but that was made easier by our off-hours visit. The staff is very friendly and most are pretty fluent in both English and French. We ordered in French the first time around, but by our second trip our language skills and brains were a bit worn out, so we were thankful our server cheerfully switched to English. They all gave us great recommendations, and everything we had was quite tasty. Think elevated brewpub than bar food. Drinks-wise, the Tall Man equally enjoyed La Pointe Merry (IPA) and La Kilt (Scotch ale). I opted for their non-alcoholic options and was happy with my Quebec-made kombucha and gin and tonic mocktail. Both came in cans or bottles, and I ended up taking the rest of my kombucha to go. Instead of ordering full entrees, we opted for a spread of small plates. The cod bites (bouchées de morue) were excellent, crisply fried with soft, flaky fish inside and a killer dipping sauce. The kiddo is just starting to eat solid foods and quite enjoyed the fish. The onion rings (nounounes rings) were also a hit. We also enjoyed the duck drumlettes (pilons de canard) and the fries (frites). Note the fries are made French style and not crispy (as opposed to what's usually served in American restaurants ironically as "French" fries). We will definitely be back! I did eat gluten on this trip as a periodic treat, but am usually gluten free. They didn't seem to have too many GF options on their menu, but I would come back to try their entrees and see if I could make it work.
