I discovered La Chiquiada via TikTok and immediately saved it to my bookmarks of places I'd like to try. I recently went for dinner with a friend and her daughter. The restaurant is located in an AMLI apartment building plaza in downtown Decatur where you can park in the parking deck and the restaurant will validate. The restaurant has very stylish decor and is on the more intimate sized. All of the staff were nice and attentive. This is not a restaurant where chips and salsa are complimentary. I ordered some for us to share and the salsa was probably the best I've ever had as it had a very rich savory taste. We all ordered different proteins of the street tacos and they were just okay. I thought the birria in their videos would be offered but did not see in the videos. Would give them another try and get other items on the menu.

La Chiquiada is a brunch spot in Decatur! Came here with some friends and we had a good time! There's validated deck parking right next to the restaurant; however, it's only for 1 hour so I still had to pay $6 when I left. The inside of the place is absolutely gorgeous! They have some extra decor out right now for Halloween, but I loved the base art in the restaurant. Seats were also pretty comfy too! The service is fine, but a little slow and we had to ask multiple times for a couple of things. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the chilaquiles with some carne asada for my meal and a spicy Mexican mocha and I thought both were fantastic! I think this might be one of the better Mexican mocha's I've had where neither the spice nor the coffee overpowered the other. The portions were pretty good too for the price. There's so many options in Decatur it's hard to say for sure, but I would like to come back to try their dinner too.

This is the cutest restaurant!! It is tucked back from the road so I only discovered it because I was spending my day at the We Work next door to it. For dog owners, they have dog treats outside the front door. I was in for midweek lunch and it was so good. I ordered a burrito as a bowl (so no tortilla) with pollo and mushrooms. It was very tasty and the perfect amount of food to not leave stuffed or sleepy.

I went to La Chiquiada for a friend's birthday. I made a reservation just in case but the place was empty enough that it did not affect our party size. I've seen advertising for happy hours, little events or summer happy hours, and holiday changes. They apparently validate parking at AMLI Decatur Parking Garage, but there's also paid street parking nearby. Decor is aesthetic, I really enjoyed the decorations, lighting, and paintings. I got the slow cooked carnitas, 2 T&T's (Tequila & Tecate), and frozen bellini. The food was delicious, but presentation could have been better. From a standpoint, it just looks like a mixed bowl. However, the menu feels very limited.

Muy Delicioso! If you're looking for delicious food with a great ambiance La Chiquiada is the place. They have amazing margaritas, awesome staff, and great food options! We ordered the nachos and a couple of Margs off the happy hour menu. Without a doubt the best nachos I've had in awhile. They were full of toppings and cheese but still tasted light and refreshing. The sauces that they provided with it were absolutely fantastic. Not sure how they made those sauces but they are life changing. And the chips.... Chefs kiss! They have a great drink menu. Always have different seasonal drinks. I'm not the biggest marg drinker due to them typically being sweet, I went out on a limb and got the seasonal pomegranate marg and I'm glad I did. The marg was refreshing and the tequila was bueno! (And not sweet from sugary syrups). Once spring rolls around they have a great patio for a hangout session with friends or even by yourself. If you're questioning about La Chiquiada, drop the other options and go check it out!

This was a decent spot for happy hour. It has an Inside and outside area. There is plenty of space if you had a decent size party with you. They have a bar, and the bartender was super cool. I got there first and got a chance to talk to her while I waited and she was very comfortable and chill to talk to. the restaurant is kind of tucked away. It is lodged in an apartment building, so you have to know where you are going to find it (its not facing the front of the street so you have to walk around). I had a friend who took an uber there and it was hard to pinpoint the drop off point, because you have to walk around to find it. They have some good happy hour specials. And they also have plenty of drinks to boot (obviously its Mexican so margaritas were on deck). The bartender made me a bartender to my specifics and it was good. They have plenty of tacos on special (chicken, beef, etc). They were well worth it and for a good price. I would go back if I was in the area for a good happy hour situation. You can spend about $20 and leave fullish and happy!

9/10 I really loved this place. I came on a quiet Wednesday night and it was awesome. I really enjoyed their margaritas which was perfect and their ceaser salad with carnitas (I know what you're thinking...who goes to a Mexican place to get a ceaser salad) Cinco de Mayo is around the corner and I know I'll be tearing up tacos left and right. The guacamole here was really good as well but a small sharing for two people. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of, this place doesn't just serve queso. They have a chipotle sharp pimento cheese but no just plain queso. I'd still come back, our server Dillion was so sweet and I love the area.

This is a hidden gem! My friend and I grabbed a bite to eat here after a Highland Yoga class. The atmosphere is charming, the servers are very attentive and friendly, the tacos are delicious, and it's very easy to eat gluten free here. 5 stars!

Cost: $$ Food: * * * Service: * * * Ambiance: * * * * ------------------------------------- This is a very chic and trendy place. An upscale Mexican restaurant with some classic options. The place itself is very modern and trendy. I really enjoyed the hand painted murals with the high ceilings. Music was definitely on point and fit the atmosphere to a T. We were there for a business lunch, and so we had limited time. The food was taking a long time to come out, and it was a little bland and frankly, a little small. The chips and salsa were my favorite out of the whole meal. But they are also a la carte. So just be aware. All and all, it's worth a stop by to try. It is a fun place to experience at least once.

Small enough that if two people exhale at the same time, someone has to step outside. And yet -- the tacos are outrageously good. The shrimp tacos arrive like they have something to prove. The shrimp are perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed into warm tortillas with the confidence of a restaurant charging triple the price in Midtown. Then come the fish tacos: crispy, flaky, absurdly satisfying little miracles that make you temporarily forget every bad seafood taco you've suffered through in your life. There's barely any seating inside, but there are a couple of benches out back in the open air where you can sit, contemplate your life choices, and wonder why you've spent money at chain restaurants when this place exists. Now we must discuss the horchata situation. I am convinced horchata at Los Niños is either a legend, a social experiment, or a spiritual concept. They *never* have it. Ever. At this point, I assume someone walks in every morning asking for horchata and the staff simply whispers, "Not since the incident..." Still, none of it matters because the tacos are phenomenal. You leave slightly cramped, mildly confused about the beverage program, but deeply happy.

We visited after a graduation celebration and were looking forward to a memorable meal. The experience got off to a rough start with hosts who were not particularly warm or welcoming. Once seated, things only went downhill. Our waiter seemed disorganized from the beginning. We ordered appetizers first, but they arrived at different times, and to make matters worse, the graduate in our party received her main entrée at the same time the rest of us were receiving appetizers. I politely explained that it didn't make sense for one guest to be eating her entrée while everyone else was still eating appetizers and waiting for their meals. His response was confusing and didn't really address the issue, so we let it go. Unfortunately, the graduate's steak was served cold. Rather than preparing a fresh one, the restaurant simply took it back and returned it about two minutes later. It appeared to be the exact same steak based on how we had left it when it was sent back, and while I'm not sure whether restaurants typically reheat food or prepare a new dish altogether, this one was reheated. To make matters worse, the graduate ended up with a stomachache after eating it. As we continued waiting, our entrées never arrived. The waiter was polite but extremely inattentive. We repeatedly had to flag him down because he rarely checked on our table. After a VERY long wait, I asked about the rest of our meals. At that point, he admitted that he had forgotten to place our entree orders altogether. He then had to take all of our orders again and submit them to the kitchen. By the time our food finally arrived, we were no longer hungry and were extremely frustrated, despite remaining patient and courteous throughout the entire experience. The entrées were decent, but nothing exceptional, especially considering the extremely excessive wait and service issues. The waiter did bring a small dessert for the graduate, which was a nice touch, but it felt more like a complimentary gesture because he had forgotten our entrées than a genuine celebration of the occasion, especially given how disastrous the overall experience had been. What should have been a joyful graduation celebration turned into an exhausting and disappointing dining experience. While the waiter was polite, the service was slow, disorganized, and lacking attention to detail. Overall, this was a poor first experience and not one I would be eager to repeat.

The portions are generous, and what really sets this place apart is the seasoning. Each dish had its own unique twist that elevated it well beyond your standard Mexican menu. The slow-cooked meat in both the empanadas and birria tacos was incredibly tender--so good it kept us going back for "just one more bite" long after we were full. And the tomatillo sauce on the enchiladas? Easily the best I've ever had--and I don't say that lightly. I'm a bit of a tomatillo sauce snob, and this one completely blew me away. The queso was excellent, especially with the crispy top, and the salsa had a great balance of flavor and spice. My girlfriend ordered the chimichanga, and it was spot on. The shell was perfectly crisp and the meat inside was flavorful and tender. I got the off-menu fajitas with steak and shrimp--absolutely amazing. The steak was cooked perfectly, the shrimp was flavorful, and the grilled onions tied it all together. Even the rice on the side impressed me, which doesn't usually happen. We wrapped things up with churros for dessert. They were decent--not a standout, but still a nice finish. All of that for around $50? I was seriously impressed. Great meal, great service, and definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.
