a sign for a mexican grill and cantina
    Tom P.

Recommended by a family friend, we desperately wanted to like La Charrita. It is located on North Main Street in the northern end of the city limits. The decor was fun and authentically "Mexican Food restaurant" with all the clever signs and artwork. It appear that virtually all of the patrons were local. So far so good. There was a large party (approximately 14 people) in the next room that slowed service, but waiting over 45 minutes for our food to arrive, please, it wasn't that busy. Because it was slow, this should mean the food would be warm and freshly prepared, right? But no, it was cold. Another disappointment, the salsa had little flavor and very little spice. Almost Pace mild. My beef fajita burrito, was plentiful in onions and peppers but the beef was scarce. The refries, no flavor. There are several Mexican food restaurants in Findlay that are far superior.

Would give 4 1/2 stars . Great atmosphere, clean, semi friendly service , food was served fast and hot. Plenty of seating, plenty of parking. I ordered the pollo con creama ,and it was delicious! food priced right. Over all a good experience!

    Nice pic inside

Food here is decent, nothing to write home about. Service leaves something to be desired. Not usually very busy and has a decent Happy Hour.

Service fast and friendly…read more The good was decent. The chips and salsa come with bean dip as well. The tacos are gringo tacos with cheese and lettuce. We were expecting cilantro and onion. Not bad, they were delicious just not expected. The same applies for the chimichangas. They were good, just not what I would typically expect from a beef chimichanga. Typically it comes with a hard fried flower tortilla with ground beef inside, they had more of a stewed Barbacoa textured beef and it was very soft. It also had a brown sauce as well as the queso. I don't think I've had it that way previously, but it wasn't bad. The chills relleno was the only thing you ordered that wasn't good. I've never seen a chilly and I'll come out that way. It looked more like a enchilada. When I cut it into it, it was indeed a poblano pepper, but it was covered in a red ranchero sauce in addition to the queso. The coding was very soft and mushy, and it didn't have much flavor. When I cut into it, it was cold inside and I had to send it back to be reheated. But the menu is large, and they have a lot of drink specials and good lunch combinations. I would come back based on the cleanliness, helplessness of the staff, the size of the menu

Chimichanga - different. The beef isn't ground beef. It's more barbacoa texture. And the tortilla isn't "hard fried" still very soft.

This is one of my new favorite places to grab a drink and some delicious and inexpensive food…read more It's been up and running in Findlay for over 30 years and serves such tasty and unique food, especially for this area of the country. I've had several things on the menu and really liked them all. My go-to meal is the Navajo Taco! I order it with a mix of their chi zip and carnitas with the spicy green chili sauce and sometimes a side of sour cream for extra creamy goodness What makes the taco so unique is the Navajo flatbread, which is typically found in the Southwest of the United States and I've never had it in the Midwest! The chili rellenos dinner is absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and fried peppers filled with cheese with and extra spices to with a nice crispy crust makes this dish mouthwatering!!! Definitely check out the appetizer menu, there are a few items on it that you won't see anywhere else. The staff is always friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs too, so that's a plus. Really can't say enough about Olers, I stop in every time I drive through Findlay!

Don't come in expecting a "traditional" mexican restaurant menu. It's more Tex-Mex and bar food…read more Not that it's a bad thing. The menu is a little smaller than many or the hugggggge multi- page menus at most local mexican spots- but that means they can focus on quality food. (One would think)The salsa needs some cilantro and a bit more punch. Not sure if it's freshly made, but it gives a jarred salsa vibe. Service was fair/ our waitress was hustling hard, but seems like they were short handed, The burrito was just ground beef inside of the flowers for the dry and instead of plate. No cheese, salt, no vegetables, not even any beans. The chili relleno is breaded and hard fried in the weirdest way. Not at all traditional hard as a rock. Not a bad flavor, but weird texture.

I left with my ears bleeding, my brain fried, and pretty sure I developed a goddamn aneurysm. Then, they brought out the wrong food. Like, how hard is it to get an order right? Instead of fixing it like competent human beings, the staff gave off big "not our problem" energy. And when my friend spilled her giant drink (RIP), not a single person lifted a finger to help. We had to clean that shit up ourselves while the staff just stood there staring like brain-dead NPCs. Are you serious? We were out here like, "Guess we work here now." BUT. The quesadilla? That thing slapped harder than life itself. I'm talking heavenly, life-changing levels of good. I will be dreaming about that quesadilla for years, and I hate how much I loved it because it's the only reason I'd ever consider coming back to this disaster of a place. Do better, Mi Tequila. Fix your shit.
