Stopped by this place on my way to Cheverny, was expecting a simple french meal but instead got the…read morebest meal i've had in France.
The place: located just off of the lobby inside a small hotel, super quaint place with a really nice countryside view. The place has 8 tables so it can get pretty cozy.
The eats: we started the meal with apéritif wines, which was a passion fruit sparkling wine topped with mandarin orange rinds. as for the food, we ordered 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, plus 1 dessert between three people. It was more than enough and we practically rolled out of the restaurant by the end.
Appetizers ///
- Fois Gras (hot) // you can almost taste the cholesterol but it's SO AMAZING! the portion was really generous and the pieces were seared to perfection.
- Scallop mousse // recommended house special, also really nice. it's light and fluffy so it creates a nice contrast to the other dish.
Mains///
- Veal Head // chef's recommendation of the day; the meat is super tender and slow-cooked to perfection! the veggies in the dish were cooked nicely as well and complemented the meat well.
- Millefeuille de filet de bœuf salers// hands down FAVORITE DISH of the meal; the beef melts in your mouth and is the best steak i've ever had.
- Poisson du marché // ours was sea bass and it was also really great. not as good as the meat, but just refreshing enough to balance the rest of the meal
Dessert///
- Mini chocolate fondant with berry sorbet // really good, and the chef + owner sent complementary homemade chocolates to us as well
The service: honestly, could not have asked for better. the place is owned by a couple and they have the two most adorable dogs! super friendly, definitely makes you feel welcome, always checking in on how you're doing without being too intrusive. it was a phenomenal dining experience, and definitely worth another visit if i'm ever back here
