First off... strip yourself of ANY preconceived notions of Domino's Pizza you may have…read more
Secondly, do NOT walk through those doors expecting a thick crust, filled to capacity, oily crunchy pizza.
Third and foremost, in the land of pizza, US-ORIGINATED chains will ALWAYS make us Italians cringe.
That said, on a crappy (both meteorological as well as psychological) Monday morning, I ventured into the only location of Domino's Pizza Italy.
"Welcome to Domino's Pizza" chanted at a unison all the workers inside. First impression? Positive, undoubtedly. I am predisposed to make an effort to oversee some idiosyncrasies.
Then: "can I have your name for the order? Would you like to in or take away?".
After choosing my beloved (and highly missed) Hawaiian, I take my place with a bottle of coke and patiently await my turn. The ever so nice worker brings me the box... I am anxious to find the hidden. Gem inside.. I open the box and... The pizza is slightly smaller than the average motopizza...
I truly like the huge ham slices (perfectly salted as yo not interfere with the pineapple) but what makes me sad is the lack of pineapple slices... There are a few here and there... I had to control the urge to scream "double up you fools!!"
The crust is decidedly a hybrid between Italian extra thin and American semi thick.
I don't think they have yet mastered the perfect timing for the pizza to be crunchy at the bottom the way I had envisioned it (which is normally how it is in the States).
One thing I truly adored was the LACK of greasy Oulu residue sliding down my hand on to my arm. BONUS point.
Now on to the ingredients, though the cheese may NOT be buffalo mozzarella, it still surpasses the average pizza delivery joints I have had the displeasure of coming across.
One last thing. They do deliver and my house is at the extreme border of their delivery route...
Though it is not gourmet pizza, delivery shall be!!
Specially since there are extreme discounts for ordering online (payment upon delivery)
