I was staying at the Gran Meliá Resort with my family for the weekend when we decided to stop by La Cava per the concierge's recommendation. The restaurant has a wonderful view of Rio Grande and Luquillo and has a warm, romantic ambiance. They were apparently undergoing some renovations and only had the house wine at the moment so that's what we had. It was kind of weird, being at a cava, and not having any actual wine choices. The manager was very nice and apologized for it.
We had the house salad and I ordered the chicken breast with arroz mamposteao and fried plantains. The chicken breast was pretty dry but the arroz mamposteao and tostones were delicious. The chocolate cake was moist and decadent.
Overall, the experience was a little hit of miss. If I were around the area I would probably give them another try. read more
