I'm so glad my car broke down in front of La Casita because the street tacos are amazing. They don't really advertise it but everything is handmade in their warehouse next to the restaurant. Ok so this is the Big Ben special. I got the asda. The weight is roughly 2 pounds. The wrapper, is two not one, but two homemade tortillas. This sum-bitch is loaded!! Rice, beans ,cheese, sourcream, guacamole and yes, asda. The store is on the corner. And i say store because they do sell stuff other than food. The have a variety of thing in the store. But we wont go into that. Lets stay on point. To wash the burrito down I bought a Mexican coke. And I know its a mexican coke because at the top of the bottle it says "medio litro". I think its something liter. Lol. Im such a pocho. The burrito is seasond to perfection. It will feed 2 people with self respect. I don't have that. I ate the whole thing. And finished the coke. Called in my first order by phone(& to make sure they were open because I'd always pass by it & it looked permanently closed). Got a Chile Verde burrito. It is the best one I've had in Merced so far. Lots of pork, lite sauce, with no beans or rice which I didn't have to ask to leave out. It was big and reasonably priced at $11+. I was happy with the burrito & the whole experience here. It's been a long time since I've came here. We ordered a enchilada plate. The sauce was from a can with no flavor including the beans. I was expecting something more authentic from this little tortilleria). I also ordered a chicken fajita burrito which barely had any chicken & more bell green bell peppers that made the burrito taste bitter & no sauce binding it all deliciously together, highly disappointed!!! La Casita is a wonderful little hole in the wall. It is actually a tortilla shop that began selling Mexican food. Everything here is homemade and fresh. Don't come expecting fine dining. There is no seating unless you count the picnic tables outside. But if you are looking to pick up a very good burrito, tamale, or some tacos to go, this is the place. You can also just pick up tortillas or masa for tamales. I used to stop here often when my wife worked nights and I had to do the cooking. I would get large orders of rice and beans, and some tortillas, then all I had to do was throw some meat on the grill. The kids loved it. They could live on the fluffy rice. Overall, for what it is, this place is very good. Call your order in if you go during lunch time. This place gets packed! read more
