What incredibly rude and lazy staff. First off you're not getting any amazing deals for your money. The bar patio door is incredibly noisy and right outside the dorms, and the dorms have these old doors that connect them and aren't usable, they just transmit noise.
But the main story:
At 310am I asked the front desk staff to ask the room next to mine to quiet down.
At 330 he hadn't, so I went back out and said it's been 20minutes and I simply want to sleep. No yelling, name calling, swearing, just firmly talking to him since he can't seem to be held accountable for doing his job, in which he then said that I had the wrong attitude, was kicking me out, AND calling the cops?! All in one go. I had made no threatening moves, verbal threats, name calling, literally nothing, and he's already talking about calling the cops. Didn't even ask me to leave first!
So glancing over the fact that he is kicking out a quiet guest who paid in full and just wants to sleep at 330, instead of the people making so much noise at that time, he is threatening to call the cops?
So I was out on the streets of Santiago at 4am with all of my gear. No offers to help me find alternate accomodations or transport. Just "fu" tourist, have fun on the streets.
Haven't been able to make contact with the owners either.
Majority of activities on their board they don't actually offer anymore.
Beds aren't made, come with one sheet??
Noisy, kids running around playing with toy trucks at 1am (but whatever, it's the 3am thing)
A shower out of order, another with a busted door.
Rude, pretentious staff, when I arrived there was no "how can I help you" it was a gruff "what do you want"
Overpriced for what you get.
Breakfast costs additional, apparently, not that I had a chance to see it.
Laundry services they mention cost about 10$ CAD for a shopping bag size of laundry (which they fail to mention the price).
Would not reccommend at all. I'm not one to complain about hostels, but when you say you're calling the cops on me and kicking me out for expecting the staff do do the bare minimum of their jobs, then I'll make an exception.
It doesn't seem like there are a ton of options for hostels in such a big city, but you'd be very hard pressed to do worse.
If that staff can't check his ego, then perhaps the owners should do it for him.
You guys lost 4 days business, and honestly, I'm glad I'm staying somewhere much better now. read more
