All round wouldn't recommend this place. I had heard they had a great location (not this one) but it was being remodeled. We arrived around 5 and only I part of 2 were there. Waiter was very monotone. We were a party of 3 and all tried to interact but he really showed no emotion and was very soft spoken. 1 small complimentary dish was served for the table but it was beans with saucy piece of meat plopped on top. Not pleasing to the eye. Chips were definitely stale. Food was terrible - ribeye steak was over cooked. We ordered medium and we fought to cut with a knife. Meat was so dry. Both my father and I left the mean. Sides were all lacking flavor. My mom had the fried shrimp and it was basically batter, hardly any shrimp. One star for the rice. It was okay. I brought up the meat and no body addressed it. We simply paid and left. I did not skimp on the tip because even though the waiter wasn't welcoming , he did his job as vanilla as it was. As we were leaving a couple walked in and asked to order the special that was advertised on every single table. Food portion was really big, that's a good point, kind plane on the flavor, service was really good.

During my first visit to this place, I made the mistake of ordering the wrong thing. It was good but not great. However for my second visit to this restaurant, I enjoyed it much more. I loved the sirloin steaks that I got. I didn't leave hungry like I also did on the first visit. The salsas they give you are great flavors to whatever cut of steak you choose to have. The tortillas were also fresh and the perfect addition to the meal. read more

This place is awesome. The food, the service, the atmosphere. Everything is always on point. They also have a full service bar with some great micheladas. They serve authentic Mexican food with delicious salsas and freshly made tortillas "a mano." I ordered the costilla (rib) plate which comes on a bed of onions/nopales and charro beans. Well worth the $19.99. A must visit for out of town visitors! Places like these are true gems. With our support we can keep them open for all to enjoy. read more

We had a 15-person dinner at this location last weekend and overall, the experience was good--not great--but good. We were grateful that they prepared tables for us ahead of time when most other restaurants in Laredo would not, so that's a plus. Our server was phenomenal. He was quick and on it like nobody's business. He was friendly and patient with our large party, which included several children. My only issue is the delay with the kitchen getting our food out in a timely manner. Yes, it was a Saturday, but it honestly wasn't that busy at the time. Perhaps they were short staffed in the kitchen? It was odd the the last people to order were the first to get their food. Two children had to wait for a very long time, while almost everyone else was practically done eating. And they didn't order anything crazy. Other than the food coming out slower than we wanted, it was cooked perfectly. The food was delicious, especially the flour tortillas! Wow! Hank you Yelp and fellow Yelpers help me decide on picking this restaurant over the pricier El Palenque just down the street from our hotel. We went to dinner while on a visit to Laredo and we were looking for a place to eat. I wanted authentic Mexican with good ambiance and that was family friendly. This was the place. When we pulled up the parking lot was full which is always a good sign. The dinner rush hour was leaving so we had to settle for a booth. We ordered the 3 meat plate that was $16.99 and my wife and kids ordered the El San Luis enchiladas which came with a piece of carne asada on top and that was $7.99 !! Kids shared a "gringo" quesadilla and let me tell you it was All Very good ! The have a limited kids menu of 3 items but I'm glad we all ate what we did. I had a mango margarita that was $9 and they had $2.50 tecate light drafts the night we were there. The mango margarita was delicious so I didn't mind paying for it. The food was brought out quickly and it was fresh. The tortillas are home made and we got both corn and flour. Service was great and the whole ambiance was great. A mariachi band came in around 9 but we left soon there after because we were all tired from a long road trip. I recommend this place but next time I think I'll tell them to cook my fajita just a little less because I don't like mine too well done. That's the one thing I would change. Nothing else. Stopped by since we were starving and needed a place to eat. Ordered the grilled chicken fajitas. They served chips/tostadas with salsas- salsas were very good. Keep in mind that their version of fajita is not your typical "fajita". They fillet chicken breast thin, way too thin, and "grill" it so much that it is too dry. It was served with beans (tasted like canned beans), rice (not home made), and tortillas (ordered corn, very good). I had asked if it came with guacamole which the server assured me that it did- it doesn't (only the plate come with it, not the full order)- that was disappointing. Ordered the frozen margarita- not from a machine and too sweet for my taste. Seems to be like a happening place for Laredo- maybe we ordered the wrong thing. Also the gorditas del Viejo used to come with avocado just like it used to be in Nuevo Laredo, which they were trying to imitate. Now, they are served with black beans, but for the SAME price! Ok so the family had mixed reviews. The cabrito order was delicious or so says my dad. He also said the tortillas of corn we excellent. The crispy taco plate was ok but nothing to write home about and the rice on the plate was cold so eh...the flauta plate was also just ok it's something I order when I'm in a pinch. The beef fajita quesadilla was good and the burger was good again average and nothing special. Over all it was a very nice lunch but I wouldn't make it a point to eat here. read more

The food was phenomenal. The seasoning was perfect, complementary to the meal, not overpowering like TexMex restaurants in Houston. The service was outstanding. Our server was very polite and attentive and he even helped us with our Spanish. The bartender also gave great service and was very attentive. I doubt that my travels will bring me back this way, but if they do, I will definitely be back. I expected this meat to be perfectly cooked and it was overcooked. The meat was flavorful! I enjoyed the taste of the seasoning. Homemade tortillas were good! My sister had the enchiladas- she said that they tasted "just normal, nothing exciting." Overall Rating: 3. Although the service was on point, the toughness of the meat was very disappointing. BEST DRINK SPECIALS in all of Laredo. On the weekends they have a full mariachi band playing with multiple other live mexican musicians playing inside and in the outdoor patio. Great atmosphere great service. They have tones of seating and TVs everywhere. I like to come here to enjoy a baseball game with some friends and cold beer! Just had the worst experience ever. They refused to sell me a cocktail due to my paper ID after they have served me days before. The waiters and managers were extremely rude. The place resembles an authentic Mexican restaurant as is it is nicely decorated. I had looked at the menu on line and the food pictured looked amazing. I ordered the sirloin plate which comes with a side of borracho beans, guacamole, and grilled onion. The presentation was great, but as for the flavor, I was slightly disappointed. I also noticed that for some odd reason the staff is organized in an unusual manner. Men tell women what to do, there is no women that are above any men in that system? Went here for dinner a couple of weeks ago with my husband and 2 year old. It was our first time there, and the food was pretty good, we both ordered beef fajitas and they were great. Only complaint we had was our appetizer, we ordered the queso but the cooks overlooked the plastic bag that the cheese was stored in, and it ended up in our dish. The waiter was very apologetic and comped our margaritas. I understand these things happen, so it won't stop us from going back. The mariachi band was a little loud (8-10 people spread out over the dining room with no less than 3 trumpets!), but it was a weekend, so maybe next time we'll try a different time to go. read more
