A landmark art deco patisserie and cafe, La Campana has been catering to Seville's sweet toothed since 1885.
I decided to join the mixed crowd in its elegant interior for a yema (soft, crumbly biscuit cake wrapped like a toffee), and a coffee and torta de aceite (flat, crumbly biscuit made with olive oil). I also got a Pionono, kind of like a rolled cake, delicious filling inside.
For a traditional breakfast, I was told, I have to come early and stand at the bar where waistcoated staff will slam down a coffee and pan con tomate (toasted roll with crushed tomato) right in front of you....LOL.
Talking to the ladies behind the counter, sometimes is busy as it can be, other times, it is not so bad...manageable. read more
