We unfortunately don't speak French, so order was a bit tough - I was better off pointing at the items. But a very kind lady behind us could understand better what I was trying to order when attempting to pronounce the items compared to the cashier/baker. Anyway! This place is definitely worth a try if you're in the area; some of the better pastries I had while staying in France. I only wish the items were warm(er) upon ordering.

Anyone who comes to Blois should visit this boulangerie/patisserie. Located just across the street…read morefrom the train station, we missed it on our way into town since we arrived after closing. Then, spending most of our time in the historic district, we didn't realize what we had passed until a couple days later when we caught a train to nearby Ambois. We sheepishly tucked in for a bite once we saw how delightful all the baked goods looked (we had JUST finished breakfast and certainly didn't need more...). Absolutely exquisite! The coffee - and especially the hot chocolate - are also wonderful. We're back today and wish we had know of this place earlier; definitely the best breakfast spot in town. Well worth the short walk up from the historic district!

Miss Goumard is a very cute tea shop in Blois, conveniently located in the city center. It offers a…read morewide range of teas (40+!) and coffees (not just espressos, they also have filtered coffee and aeropress! Yay!), served in very instagrammable mugs. They also have homemade pastries - we had the chocolate fondant and it was awesome. Prices are OK - €3.50 for a tea, €3 for aeropress, €4-5 for a pastry. The only downside is that the place doesn't seem to cope with all the attention it's creating - it was full when we went, they didn't have any clean mugs left, and they had sold out all their pastries except 2 options by 5pm on a Saturday afternoon, so intended to close early. And the poor waitresses seemed way overworked. I'm sure they'll learn to manage though - it's a great little café, hence I doubt the crowd will fade away!

Between the 4 of us we tried the quiche Lorraine, sausage puff pastry, chocolate and coffee eclairs, the orange hot chocolate, and a raspberry Mille feuille. It was all really good, although I preferred the puff pastry. The service was pretty standard in France, you have to flag someone down or you'll wait about 20 mins between interactions with the wait staff, but they were all friendly and there were a lot of them. The restaurant is placed right at a busy corner and sitting outside, we enjoyed watching people and dogs come and go.
