Most dancers were dressed in red and black, some with elegant flowers in their hair. Their style fitted perfectly with this art deco venue. The floor of the room was rather crowded with chairs and small tables, but at least finding a seat wasn't difficult. The bar at the back of the room served refreshments. Acoustics were pretty good!

I recently took a trip to Montréal for my brother's bachelor party. I decided to put a short…read moreextension on the trip, and arrive a day early to settle in and make sure everything was set for his arrival (I did the majority of the planning). It worked out with my credit card points that I was able to swing a night at the Ritz-Carlton, so I thought I would treat myself and book one night here before the festivities began. Like many of my hotel reviews, I'll separate this into pros and cons - so here we go! There is a lot to like about the Ritz-Carlton Montreal. There's a lot of history here - one of the staff actually told is this was the first RC that opened under its combined name (previous hotels were just Ritz or just Carlton). It's really a gorgeous hotel - as soon as you walk in, that high-end hotel smell hits you and you're greeted by beautiful aesthetics. Onsite amenities are another pro - I didn't get to explore everything, but I did have breakfast at Maison Boloud which was great, and they have a nice bar area just off the lobby. The pros extend into the room - we were in a double queen on the top floor that faced rue Sherbrooke (hence some great views). The room was super spacious and contained multiple high-end features. The bathroom was a highlight for me - heated floors, heated towel racks, and a technologically advanced toilet that intimidated and fascinated me at the same time. I now need of all these in my own bathroom, btw. Beds were super comfortable as well. Despite all these positives, there were some negatives I experienced that warranted taking off a star. Our room did not have a mini bar which I found very odd for a hotel of this caliber. I saw space for it, but it was completely empty. The bigger I issue I faced, though, was at check-in. I received a welcome call the day before my arrival where I let them know my approximate ETA. It was before the standard 4pm check-in time, so they could not guarantee my room would be ready. That was totally fine, and indeed my room was not ready when I arrived at 1:30pm. They again reiterated the 4pm guarantee, so I left my bags with bell service and went out to explore. Unfortunately, when I returned to the hotel at 4pm, my room was still not ready and they could not let me know when it would be ready. I requested to speak with management about this due to the previous communication of a 4pm guarantee. It was explained to me that there were several factors that resulted in the room not being ready, however as a guest those are really not my issues. I'm hoping that the hotel takes this back to better their processes when it comes to adhering to promised check-in times; we ended up not getting into the room until 5pm. Even with the negative check-in experience, the entire team at the hotel was great; management handled the issue to the best of their ability, and everyone else I interacted with were super professional as well. Overall, despite the hiccups, I do feel that the Ritz-Carlton provides a good experience, and if I have the means I wouldn't hesitate to return.
