They tried, but their attempts at exotic dishes missed the mark. The room where the talks were held was very big with high ceilings and semi-stadium seating so that people in the back could see. The screen wasn't huge, but it was big enough. The last night we had a banquet in the large ballroom on the top floor, and that was very nice. It looks like a wedding venue. It would make a very nice wedding venue actually and I'm sure they have them there all the time. So it was a little weird feeling like I was at a wedding with a bunch of virus scientists.... The service during lunch/dinner was great. The waiters were nice and attentive. No complaints there. Overall, I liked the venue and wouldn't mind going back there for another meeting. Be careful with the food though.

I expect dried chicken but instead got veal filet. And I don't even know what that desert was except it was freaking amazing. As convention centers go, it works. Buffet Costa Del Mare is a well-known Italian buffet hall located between Montreal North and…read moreSt-Leonard. I'm surprised to be the first to review this place as I've been here on the rare occasion and it's a solid venue to have a party or an anniversary, to celebrate your wedding or to simply attend one of their banquets. It's a good time. As most typical halls do, Costa Del Mare provides its guests with cultural entertainment. For those of you coming here, newsflash... it's very Italian! OOH!! So expect them to show case it loud and proud. The music plays the old Italian classics as you dance and weave through your dinner services until you groggily put your coat on and make your way to your car when the evening is done. They play other types of music but expect a taste of Italian love. What really stood out for me was Mr. Palermo who was our host for the evening. He was very amiable and really into the celebration. He had a wide variety of impromptu gifts for his guests. He knew people's birthdays and special moments and they were called up and given gifts all night long. Very unexpected. This left a very positive impression. There was also a lottery for donations and a whole bunch of gifts for guests when their numbers were called up. We enjoyed this very much. Perhaps because we were winners of something pretty cool. :) As far as food goes, it was very typical what you get at a hall. Appetizers and desserts are banquet style and all you can eat, everything else in between is set course style. For me, this was probably the weakest portion of the event. I found most of the food to be very average, a sharp contrast to the fun I was having with the entertainment and of course.... the open bar. :) GLUG GLUG GLUG One plate stood out for me was the main course, the pork was REALLY good which took a 2 star meal all night to an average 3 stars for me. The event was $90 per person and I think it has value since you get here at 6 PM and can leave as late as 3 AM. There's plenty of entertainment and food. Open bar, that's at least worth half the price right?!? Good times. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and will probably come back.

Needless to say the service was superb! Now let's talk about the high tea. The food was perfect! Fancy, small bites which are adorable, and just displayed so lovely. The tea was great and I got something with golden milk too. I just feel like everything about this experience was a girls dream come true. I would definitely recommend high tea here for a special occasion!

I recently took a trip to Montréal for my brother's bachelor party. I decided to put a short…read moreextension on the trip, and arrive a day early to settle in and make sure everything was set for his arrival (I did the majority of the planning). It worked out with my credit card points that I was able to swing a night at the Ritz-Carlton, so I thought I would treat myself and book one night here before the festivities began. Like many of my hotel reviews, I'll separate this into pros and cons - so here we go! There is a lot to like about the Ritz-Carlton Montreal. There's a lot of history here - one of the staff actually told is this was the first RC that opened under its combined name (previous hotels were just Ritz or just Carlton). It's really a gorgeous hotel - as soon as you walk in, that high-end hotel smell hits you and you're greeted by beautiful aesthetics. Onsite amenities are another pro - I didn't get to explore everything, but I did have breakfast at Maison Boloud which was great, and they have a nice bar area just off the lobby. The pros extend into the room - we were in a double queen on the top floor that faced rue Sherbrooke (hence some great views). The room was super spacious and contained multiple high-end features. The bathroom was a highlight for me - heated floors, heated towel racks, and a technologically advanced toilet that intimidated and fascinated me at the same time. I now need of all these in my own bathroom, btw. Beds were super comfortable as well. Despite all these positives, there were some negatives I experienced that warranted taking off a star. Our room did not have a mini bar which I found very odd for a hotel of this caliber. I saw space for it, but it was completely empty. The bigger I issue I faced, though, was at check-in. I received a welcome call the day before my arrival where I let them know my approximate ETA. It was before the standard 4pm check-in time, so they could not guarantee my room would be ready. That was totally fine, and indeed my room was not ready when I arrived at 1:30pm. They again reiterated the 4pm guarantee, so I left my bags with bell service and went out to explore. Unfortunately, when I returned to the hotel at 4pm, my room was still not ready and they could not let me know when it would be ready. I requested to speak with management about this due to the previous communication of a 4pm guarantee. It was explained to me that there were several factors that resulted in the room not being ready, however as a guest those are really not my issues. I'm hoping that the hotel takes this back to better their processes when it comes to adhering to promised check-in times; we ended up not getting into the room until 5pm. Even with the negative check-in experience, the entire team at the hotel was great; management handled the issue to the best of their ability, and everyone else I interacted with were super professional as well. Overall, despite the hiccups, I do feel that the Ritz-Carlton provides a good experience, and if I have the means I wouldn't hesitate to return.

It's an event space attached to the McCarroll Pub. There is a seperate entrance and you can't hear…read morethe noise from the bar at all. I've been to two events/conferences here and I have quite a good impression. Pros: - Good ambiance: as you walk up the stairs (2nd floor), there are little blue lights in the floor that makes you feel like you're in space. - Good food options: they have different menu choices for different price points. They include vegan/halal choices. They have a poutine bar or multiple courses - Good portions: the portions are huge and the poutine bar was quite delicious. For the multiple course option, they bring out big plates that the whole table shares, but it was more than enough for the 6 of us. - Good food: the rosemary bread was amazing! It was warm, soft and the rosemary taste really penetrated the bread! The antipasto platter was also incredible. All kinds of cheeses, meats and olives. However, the baked tomato + feta casserole was probably my favourite thing Cons: - They removed the plates as the next courses were ready, which is understandable. However, there were always a lot of food left and I find it incredibly wasteful. Had they left the food longer, we would've definitely eaten more. Case in point, the wild mushroom farfalle casserole was barely touched. I was discussing with the conference hosts and when I turn back, they had already cleared the table. There wasn't a dessert afterwards, so they could've left it a lot longer. - The food got less and less good as the night went on. The bread and antipasto scored 100% on the tasty meter, the main dish was a 30%. It was pieces of chicken wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with cheese, spinach and other things. The chicken was extremely dry and not very flavourful. The farfalle casserole was very bland. It was a sad end to a great start. - The waiters did not announce what the dishes were. There are a lot of people in my group who couldn't eat porc or things containing alcohol. However, the waitresses did not announce anything as they placed little things that look like sherbet in front of us. It was after that some of us tasted it that realized that it contained alcohol. We had to run to the others to warn them before they ate it as well. The same thing happened with the chicken wrapped in prosciutto. Overall, it was a good experience for me, but if you have any dietary restrictions, you should definitely ask them to explain what it is before eating any of it.
