    Pedicure waiting room.

Hotel is lovely but rooms are very small. Spa is not the place to get a pedicure. Location for nail work is not near actual spa but in the bowels of the building in a very unappealing space where they store the extra toilet paper. Nothing four star about it.

Service from the bell hop to the front desk team was impeccable. From the moment my family and I arrived Toufik and Gohtan treated us like royalty. Their recommendations of restaurants in the neighborhood was exactly what we wanted. Only negative I would comment about would be regarding the trim (electric outlets and make-up mirror), both were falling off the wall. The shower system in the room was iconic. We will be back next summer, as recommended by Toufik!

This was possibly the best hotel I've ever experienced. The service was fantastic. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The location was perfect. The quality of bedding, bathroom, the room was excellent. It is one block from the old town square. Plenty of great dining nearby. I HIGHLY recommend staying here. The only negative is the road in front of the hotel is completely torn up. Of course that will be temporary, and not a reflection of the hotel, but it was a little inconvenient at the time.

This is easily one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. It's pretty much everything you could ever want out of a boutique hotel. I also want all of the hotel fixtures in my apartment. Everything is so beautiful. Let's break this down: ROOMS: The rooms are new but on the smaller side. If you have a normal queen/king-sized room, the closet is placed at an awkward position at the door that really limits movement. Otherwise, everything is beautifully decorated and in the main part of the room, you have a fair amount of space. The bathroom is also on the smaller side... but that incredible shower makes up for it. SERVICE: The service is really what sets William Gray apart (and basically confirms that staying at large chains is completely overpriced and overrated). Everything about this hotel is equivalent to top notch service. Jade is an incredible concierge that made sure my friend and I had the best time. She came through for us with everything - restaurants, spa recommendations, and things to do. I highly recommend you speak with her. I have to give a shout-out to turn-down service. A Lindt chocolate and water bottle on my bed? Yes. I love it. LOCATION: Located right in Vieux Montreal, HWG is at an ideal location (more so for the summer than winter). There are things to do as you walk up and down the water and plenty of solid restaurants. It is slightly frustrating to Uber/cab everywhere you go in the city, but for Montreal, HWG really is in one of the prime locations. If you're looking for a place to stay in Montreal, look no further than HWG. It's worth every penny and more.

We came to the William Gray for New Years Eve 2022 with plans to watch the fireworks. When we arrived they told us the fireworks were cancelled (it would have been nice to be told in advance). We drove up from Maine, and we had studded snow tires on our car. It's the winter in New England and Canada, so studded snow tires make sense. The Valet told us he could not park our car in the hotel lot because of the studs, and we would need to park five blocks away and walk back and forth to the hotel in the rain. I brought work on our trip, as I usually do, but the hotel wifi was so poor the internet connection was virtually worthless. A faster connection was offered on set up for $10 a day, but failed to work when I clicked on the option. The room was okay, but modest for the price with a disappointing view of the building next door. The bathroom had no vent fan. There was no "do not disturb" sign on the door and no notice as to when the room might be cleaned. There was no ice bucket in the room, nor any indication where ice might be found. The room service menu was short and offered very limited options. The staff were generally courteous, but that was the only saving grace. We expected quality based on previous reviews and the price we paid. Instead we were seriously disappointed.

We really enjoyed our stay here -- it had an upscale feel and, in our case, we managed to get it for a reasonable price (not "cheap", but one of the best rates in Old Montreal) Room amenities were luxurious -- upscale toiletries, Nespresso coffee, and a shower with like 9 shower heads (I might be exaggerating... I might not. It honestly shot water in any possible configuration you would want.) The location is fantastic, right on the edge of Old Montreal near the Vieux-Port (unfortunately the streets outside are under construction, but that has nothing to do with the hotel, and wasn't really a problem -- just unattractive to walk around), and service here was fantastic (I felt bad we had no cash to tip them with, because the valet, doorman, cleaning staff, everybody did an excellent job.) The rooftop bar seems extremely popular (so we didn't use it -- always just a little too much of a crowd.)

Loved this hotel and service was impeccable- rooms are small, but very nice! Centralized and great places are within walking distance. The bar was understaffed, but maybe this was due to the NYE holiday....

    Bad air conditioning room 304

Modern renovated hotel. Awesome amenities. But our rooms air conditioning really sucked. As soon as we checked in the room, 3rd floor it was hot 82°F, and throughout the afternoon we kept the shades closed and air-conditioning on and the room was still 80° at midnight. Complained to front desk twice and someone was sent to room and told us the units are too small for the rooms. I could seriously blow harder than the air coming out of the vent. I think the unit was broken. Will see if they can resolve the problem in the morning.

Our stay at William Gray has been lovely. Front Desk was alway personable and accommodating Bell staff same. They do have a full time concierge. We did not use their services, but i always saw people at their desk. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I had purchased a room with a view. I have to say our view was not all that great. We had a view of the ugly roof top of the building next door. Not worth the trouble of complaining or moving. A window in the room open a smidgin' which i always love. I need the fresh air. The toiletries in the room are MY FAVORITE. SANTAL33 LeLebo. Smells so clean and fresh. Towels and robes were nice. Shower was powerful and water was HOT. Nespresso coffee maker in the room made life so much nicer (see I told you I liked my coffee). You can have a cup or 2 before you head out into town. CAFE: eh. I found the coffee super bitter. Did not go back Restaurant: Maggie Oakes. We had a couple of breakfasts there. Very nice. Slow service one morning, but nothing to gripe about. We had dinner one night and it was VERY good and had excellent service. Cutting through the restaurant and entering the square I HIGHLY recommend the ice cream (and gift shop) Mlle Catherine. The dark chocolate hard scoop and soft serve were very good. We went a couple of times (many different sizes of cones-I personally love the mini. It was perfect). You are surrounded my DQ (YUK) and Ben and jerry's. But why have that when you can support the local vendor. Here are my CONS. We were able to relax and people watch in the Living Room. My only gripe and eventually complained was the music. It was SO loud and not relaxing at all. I actually found this to be true about all of Montreal. Their taste and decibel of music throughout Montreal was very annoying to me. But going back to the LR, when I did complain to the front desk they were very accommodating and realized that the music from the shop was pouring over into the LR. We also sat out on the terrace on the 2nd floor. It is very nice. Did not make it up to the roof top. When the weather was accommodating there was a wedding. A couple of things that bugged me was cleanliness of the public areas could have been a bit better (elevators, public bathrooms). I was a little surprised that this was not kept up a bit better. I do recommend The William Gray. Location is very nice. A little bit off the path which is what makes it quiet. It's a busy hotel and that is a good thing!

The purpose of this review is by all means to rave about Clandestino. Very chill vibe, the space is small, tiny bar counter and some sofas, where if you are lucky you can sit with a big group of friends and enjoy some drinks. Since Clandestino seems to serve as an overflow bar for Boho sometimes there are to many people just coming in and standing in the tiny opened space next to the bar. Be determined and jump on the first available seat if you'd like to hang in there longer. Clandestino has a ginourmous list of mescals and tequilas. We did rely on the recommendation of the bar tender for the first round and fortunately we kept the receipt so we know what were the amazing smoky mescals we ended up trying. The cocktail list is so attractive that no doubt we had to try the mixes, tequila end mescal can be substituted upon request, but in general I like to stick to the original liquor choice of the mixologist. Don Solares and El Matador were perfect choices, where the El Matador certainly wins the competition. All the drinks are served in a fancy way, the tequilas and mescals are accompanied by fruits that will enhance the flavors. I loved the choice of music and the lights, very cozy space that could be also perfect for a more intimate encounter.

    Ville-Marie

"The drummers and jugglers in Montreal Don't even exist at…read moreall" (Rufus Wainwright) One of Nelligan's greatest attributes is its location. This grand hotel is squarely located between the Old Port and Old Montreal neighborhoods, so you literally have hundreds of cool places to visit or dine at within minutes. The Nelligan is an old hotel in an old city, so if you're expecting something like a Marriott in a suburban location, you'll be greatly disappointed. In the mid 1800's, the current Nelligan hotel was once four separate historic buildings that over the years contained a warehouse, grocery store, paper company and pharmaceutical store. In 2002, these various structures were rebuilt, refined, updated, and joined together to launch the new Hotel Nelligan. Walking around the hotel and trying to find your room number can be adventurous because we encountered numerous small staircases in the corridors. To go from our room to the elevator, we had to go up one small staircase, make a few lefts and rights in a hallway, and then down a second small staircase to the hallway with the elevators. And since I mentioned the subject of room numbers, that turned out to be a real thorny issue, because on check-in day, the signs directing us to room 323 brought us nowhere near room 323. The signs were wrong. We found a chambermaid who told us "the signs are wrong" and escorted us on a long circuitous walk to our room. The next day printed "corrections" to the room number signs had been tacked up. Another issue we encountered (although it sure wasn't the hotel's fault) was the construction on St. Paul West that effectively closed the street and vehicle access to the hotel. The street was totally torn up from curb to curb by heavy equipment and there were plywood walls defining the very narrow sidewalks up and down lower St. Paul West including the hotel entrances. There were also plywood sheets atop the torn-up sidewalks. Walking down the narrow sidewalk with suitcases was nearly impossible. When we drove up to check in, of course the street was closed, but there are some very helpful valets who have cones and markers set up on the corner of St. Paul and St. Sulpice. They were fantastic and let us park there while we walked to the hotel with our luggage and checked in with the front desk and the hotel valet station. Truth is, every hotel employee we interacted with was FIVE STAR FANTASTIC to deal with. Our room was pretty big with a cool stone wall. The satellite reception and WIFI worked well, the bed was comfy, and the big bathroom was great, with a huge rainfall shower and good pressure and temperature. So, as long as you can anticipate the traffic and access problems, and take everything else with a grain of salt, you can really enjoy your stay here at a very cool old-school hotel..

He was so friendly and always had time for a chat about all things Montreal! And now for the truly disappointing things: they opened their sister hotel the week after Christmas so they were incredibly short staffed. I had no housekeeping in 3 days! I didn't have any shampoo left- I was adding water to the tiny bottle to use whatever was left on the sides. I asked the lady behind that desk every night about it!
