Don't waste your time or money. Taco Bell has more flavor than this place. Portions are small and everything costs extra - even soft drinks cost to refill. One waitress trying to keep up with everything herself and service is slow. And don't waste your time ordering a margarita. They're just pre-made mixes with very little alcohol. This used to be our go to Mexican restaurant. The food and service were always spot on. Great place to go with family or friends for lunch or dinner. However, since Maria's departure, it hasn't been the same. From the good, atmosphere to service, it is not as good. We've given it a couple chances, but haven't been back. Well, 2 stars is really all I got. It wasn't horrible enough to give it anything less. I'm not that easy when it comes to 1 Star reviews. You really have to earn that one. Chips were fresh, but the salsa was mediocre. I ordered a large guacamole which to my surprise, looked like a small. The food in general was very bland and personally I thought it was a tad bit over priced. I asked the waitress what she recommended and she responded with, "I really don't eat here often". Service was nice but dear lord the portions for the price were horrible. The salsas has no flavor and the tortillas were cold on my taco. Take the extra ten minutes and drive to El Cortez in Bradley, same menu but bigger and nicer and much better portions for the price. Pretty solid Mexican restaurant. Similar to one that you would find in almost any small town across the US. We have eaten here a few times. A solid 3 star, good service, get your food quick and it is always nice and hot. Reason I bump them to 4 stars is for the Mole sauce, it is very good. A friend recommended this Manteno restaurant. We visited during lunch for the specials. The food was average and lacked any traditional Mexican flair or spice. My concern was not the food, but the pricing deception. We came in and were given taco chips and salsa. Pretty standard for Mexican restaurants anywhere you go. Anywhere! But, amazingly, I was charged, for both chips and salsa. I ordered a coke and it came in a 12 ounce plastic cup full of ice cubes. No problem, except, I was charged for refills. Ok, you're probably thinking, what's the problem. The problem is, the owner should post if they're going to charge for chips and salsa. Better yet, ask the customer if they would like c&s and notify the customer of a charge. Also, post on the wall or the menu, 'no refills', when it comes to beverages. Especially when using such small cups. Water came in a 32 oz cup, soda in a 12 oz cup. So, chips and soda refills for two added $16 to our bill. So now my $20 lunch just became $36. I quietly walked out of this restaurant of deception, never to return. Never! read more

Good food, very authentic. Especially authentic was the wait staff whom with we must have had a language barrier, because a few things that we did not order showed up. Dont get me wrong, they were pretty tasty...I just got the chance to report to the couple sitting next to us that their soup was very good. I usually charge a small fee for tasting others' food. In this case I didnt mind. Good salsa, but felt rushed to order. I dont really like that at all. It does not feel like waitstaff are just being attentive...when we both are still holding up the menu in our faces, we are still reading it. Prices were ok. Not as inexpensive as I would like...but then again you cant eat at taco bell for under eight bucks now...so by that measure, prices are good. I would like to try some less obvious choices here sometime but my food was good. Refried beans were homemade and I gotta give that compliment. Rice was a little on the dark roasted side. Horrible. Service was terrible. Our waitress could barely speak english and forgot to bring half of what we asked her for. Food was cheap quality. My friend sent her beef tacos back because the beef was pink and undercooked. How do you mess up ground beef? It was boiling hot in there. They have a small air conditioning unit by the door and it read 89 degrees. As we were leaving our waitress literally chased us out the door asking for the credit card slip that had the order on it and was supposedly attached to the back of the one we signed... we said we didnt take anything other than the one that said "customer copy" and showed her, and she continued to harass us in a panic about how much she needed that slip while she moved things around on the table looking for it and we stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do. Finally she said it was "bad for her, not us" and we left. Will never go there again. read more

Well I waited over 30 min for a takeout order that I ordered 20 min prior to coming here. There always only one server. I tried to give it a chance a couple of times. I'm sorry but whoever owns this place needs to hire more staff. Just ridiculous. Are business owners this dumb? No wonder so many restaurants around here go under. Horrible service, only people in there when we came in and took almost an hour to get our food. Table came in 10 minutes after us and got food first. Server took forever to bring us drinks and when we finally got our food, we ordered more and finished eating and never got our drinks so just asked for the checks to leave. Never had a bad experience before this there but the service was absolutely horrible. read more

stopped by for lunch and the server was kind and our food came quickly. the chicken tacos tasted kind of plain but they were good. the horchata tasted fantastic, you could see the cinnamon on the ice but it was a very small glass for two dollars and it was not free refills, they definitely would have gotten more stars if they were more generous. i would come back again but i would order my horchata without ice and probably something different. read more

Definitely the worst Mexican restaurant in the area being someone who has tried a variety of authentic Hispanic food. Customer service was terrible and they gave me cold fries as a side with my food.
