    CUBANA TORTA

Very delicious. I ordered the CUBANA TORTAS. Flavorful and definitely huge. Only con is that the fried pork cutlet was a bit tough to chew through when taking your bite. $16.99

I've enjoyed bone-in chicken thighs ( I use these for the NYT recipe "Garlicky Chicken Thighs with Scallions and Lime." I'm always looking for meat sticks which I couldn't find and the guy carving a spine on the table asks can I find you something so I say meat sticks and he says like regular or hot and I say hot. He goes in the back and packages me up some on the spot. I asked the guy as someone traveling through what's a must have take with me and he says the summer sausage so I grabbed one also. The place looked clean with a country charm. The hot meat sticks were very lean and almost a jerky like texture with some nice heat and tasty. The summer sausage was also really good and I'm glad I got some. I also grabbed some real dog bones for my friends dogs and they loved them. If your in the area I recommend stopping by.

We got the end of the brisket they were currently cutting, so likely had been cut hours before and left which likely lead it to be dry. The chicken was ok, not much flavor and was on the drier side. The sausage was the best option we tried, good balance of flavor. The cornbread was also dry. The potato salad had good flavor. The Mac and cheese was the best thing we tried. I'd comeback for the sausage and Mac and cheese. Service 3/5: this is an order at the counter and sit down style. We had never been here before and overall did not feel helped when we were ordering. The staff just started at us and asked what we wanted instead of helping us walk through the steps of how to order (meat first and then you choose your sides). It got challenging because there was a growing line and many of us felt the same way of not really knowing what to order. I had to ask for extra plates for our kiddos, and was a little confused about extra condiments and things that were available in the restaurant. Ambiance 4/5: the restaurant was clean and plenty of places to sit. We were in the restaurant with another family with kids, and our kiddos ended up doing friendly dinosaur roads to the family across the restaurant. We all had a really good laugh. Overall most of the meat was dry but we liked some of the sides. The staff could have been more helpful in ordering. This is a kid friendly restaurant in our experience and had plenty of room to accommodate larger parties.

What I got in reality was a microwaved (or maybe boiled?) pound of brisket instead. Tasted terrible - wish I would have just lit my $90 on fire so I'd at least get 15 seconds of enjoyment from it. And, when asked about this, the very nice checker said "We have to serve them." I also am disappointed to see the men at the meat counter with masks below their noses and chins. I have decided that I need to stay away until they are more serious about everyone's health, or until the end of this pandemic. I have been a regular customer for years and have always felt well treated. This, however, has made me frustrated and I must draw a line.

(it took me forever to find such a place in this butcher-less town)…read more Everyone in this town think Jacobson brothers is the place to turn for their butched meat needs. I think this is mostly because ya'all think there is a correlation between the dollar amount and meat quality. Jacobson brothers did not come to the rescue when I needed a 8 pound fresh ham to brine. Knoche's did. Knoche's seems to carry every part of the cow and pig. Some parts are not on display in the case, and are hidden away in the basement freezer. I found this out on my most recent meat hunt -- for short ribs. Ask the the cute aproned men to run down and get them. While not the cheapest priced cuts in town, they are reasonably priced and fairly high quality. Furthermore, you can feel good shopping at a locally owned joint. They also have family recipes of chili, potato salad, bratwursts, etc that I am always tempted to try.

I had the prosciutto sandwich and my SO had the pastrami and both had nothing but good things to say as we ate. The prosciutto sandwich had balsamic that had just started to soak into the otherwise crunchy bread, with these big chunks of mozzarella and the freshest tomatoes and greens. Alimentari itself is this awesome little deli/grocer with both bagged pastas AND FRESH PASTA/antipasti available to buy, as well as all sorts of goods, breads, coffees, chocolates, beverages and a whole wine selection. Beware that there is no seating inside but definitely do not let this dissuade you from visiting.

I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich, and the gentleman taking my order pointed to a random piece of focaccia on display on the counter and asked if I'd like my sandwich on that. I don't know what kind of bread if normally comes on, but I have since read about the thicker/crustier bread on some reviews. Gosh am I glad he offered the focaccia. The bread made this sandwich, it was sooo good. It was light and fluffy despite being substantial in size, and had this delightful little crunch from the sea salt on it (not in a salty sense, just in a wonderful texture sense). There was a ton of turkey on it and it was a yummy smoked flavor. The other fixings were standard but complimented the sandwich very well. The sandwich was tasty and filling. All this said, because I paid $16 for my sandwich, I wouldn't make it a regular occurrence, maybe a special treat. But if it's on regular bread, particularly a harder crust bread, I think I'd skip it entirely. You do get a lot of sandwich for your money, but I just can't justify it. So, overall, this is definitely worth trying and deciding for yourself - I don't think you'll be disappointed.

The space is good sized with several areas for seating from the bar to dining room to the patio. It is industrial smokehouse for sure, which is exactly what you want from a bbq joint. We bellied up to the bar, where the bartender was prompt, friendly and helpful. Being our first time, we asked for recommendations and without missing a beat, the brisket loaded fries with a round of old fashioned's...so that is what we went with! The drinks are well, or rail as commonly referred to around this area, and only ran us $5 - $6. They were tasty, but we could definitely tell it was a happy hour special cocktail. The fries were plentiful, definitely enough to share between us two. The brisket was tasty and the fries were crisp. And combined, the old fashioned and brisket fries was a solid duo!
