The food is extraordinary throughout the day, but If you can get there early in the morning you will have the warmest, freshest, most outstanding baked goods you've ever had in your life. At least I did. I made the mistake of being modest and ordering one mini chocolate beignet and one pink macaron. One bite into the beignet and I was I heaven! I had a train to catch, so unfortunately I didn't go back for more (the lines are rightfully long) and at just €1 each I should have just binged. I will not make that mistake again. They have them available in quantities of 5 as well and this is what I will get going forward. The macaron wasn't exactly my cup of tea but those with a sweet tooth will surely love it. So I'm sitting here writing this review and contemplating if I should make a mad dash there before they close in 15 minutes, now that I've rehashed the other morning and my mouth is watering. Wow! Walking around a shopping area in Marseille I noticed a vendor selling macarons. He was very…read morepolite and offered everyone samples of each of the products. I tried the poppy seed, the pistachio, the almond macarons, as well as another product that reminded me of the sugar waffles I used to get a the fair as a kid. The booth operator was very friendly and encouraged everyone to try each of the products offered. A couple people were treating it as a buffet, but still he was inviting to try more. The booth in this location was cash only, but the products were cheap. The price was per gram weight, which he said typically averaged 2-3 macarons for 1 Euro. This is the type of operation I picture when thinking about local shopping in Provence. If you are in the area, be sure to stop by this vendor.
