Service was like any other European restaurant. As far as the food comes, it delivered! For bread and butter-my favorite was the orange butter because I wasn't expecting the flavor to come through so well. We started off with the scallops which were cooked to perfection. The prawns in a piri piri sauce had a kick, but nothing overwhelming. I ordered the monkfish and prawn curry-you could taste the coconut. My friend ordered the lamb and that might have been my favorite amongst them. It was so moist and had such good flavor. Almost like a bbq but not so sweet. As far as dessert goes, the creme brûlée was a miss for me. The top lay offered the perfect crack, but underneath it felt too sweet and eggier than most creme brûlées I have had. Now what really sold me was the house dessert. It was so light, fluffy and not overly sweet. The sweet potato fries were so crispy that my friend gave it the highest compliment of saying it didn't need a sauce.

Cuisine is Portuguese with style. Try the lamb shank or duck confit. Perhaps the best I have ever eaten in country. Ambiance is cozy and authentic without being ostentatious. Service is prompt and courteous and not intrusive. Good price to value ratio. Like most eateries in Portugal, you can stay as long as you wish. I can dine here every day and not be disappointed or bored with the well curated menu and wine list. Don't miss this tried and true winner.

We came back right when they opened for dinner at 7pm and were lucky to grab a table as a walk-in. (The walk-in table was indoors; the rest of the tables, most of which were reserved, were outdoors.) A majority of the patrons had reservations, and many walk-ins after us were turned away or asked to make a reservation for another day. The food was amazing! I got the oysters as recommended by the server. They tasted so fresh and were great with a chilled glass of the house white wine. My husband is a vegetarian and got the pumpkin and goat cheese puff pastry--it was also very tasty. After paying the bill and exiting the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised by the live music playing outside. We were enjoying it from inside the establishment and thought it was coming from a speaker this whole time! Overall, we had a wonderful evening and would recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

Housed in an area that is rich in history the interior of the restaurant has been beautifully restored and feels very inviting as soon as you walk in. This establishment is known for its tasting menu however, me and my family opted to try individual dishes that interested us the most. For myself, I enjoyed the pate appetizer which was smooth and not overly powerful. I appreciated It's mild and delicate flavor. My second appetizer was the sweet breads that had a beautiful gloss from the sherry wine glaze that it was finished in. Delicious My table shared an appetizer of croquetas that had one of the best béchamel sauces I had in Spain. Of the main courses of my table the best dish by far was "Chuletón de vaca selección especial" which was offered at €80 per kilo. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare with a wonderful char crust on the outside and large pieces of salt sprinkle finished on top. Most of all I really enjoyed the deep aged flavor of the beef. I was also able to sample a fish entrée on the table which was snapper with black rice. This dish was good but nowhere near as good as the steak. To finish it all off my dessert was "Tosta de arroz con leche" I found this dessert outstanding, reminding me of a traditional Arroz con leche but with a nice crust on the outside, and a touch of sweet corn in the middle. Highly recommended. Overall, a very memorable dining experience that is a bit on the pricier side, but fun and interesting, pushing the boundaries of modern and traditional Spanish cuisine.

Tonight we shared the piri piri chicken, very hot sauce, and sea bass. Service was quick and the place was immediately full at seven. We ordered a bottle of Portuguese house red wine for $7.50. It was a 2021 edition but was really good, an Alicante Bouchet grape originally from France but transported to southern Portugal. The owner cooks the fish to order on a charcoal grill and it melted in your mouth. We also tried the house specialty, piri piri chicken. The chicken was so tender! We ordered the piri piri on the side as it is very hot. Our sides were chips, french fries in the US, which were addicting and a Portuguese salad with lettuce, onions, tomato, cucumbers and marinated green pepper in a tasty red wine vinegar dressing which perfectly complimented the fried and rich foods. The restaurant is very humble and a challenge to find but if you are in Alvor Lagos Portugal, make the effort to find it in the central part of town. Parking is a challenge and the payment is cash or debit card only, but you will not regret your decision. Thanks for a great last dinner in Portugal.
