Steak sandwich - cooked perfect and seasoned wonderfully

Wow - what a hidden gem! We stumbled upon this place randomly, and could not be more happy we did. We asked the chef for some recommendations and settled on the steak chacarero, halibut ceviche, and fries with chorizo. The chef brought some complimentary empanadas for the kids, too. Honestly, it was hard to pick a favourite dish as every single item was a home run. If I had to pick, the steak chacarero was the best steak sandwich I've ever had, and the fries w chorizo were roasted perfectly and seasoned with just the right kick. Make sure to get here early - even at 4-5pm the restaurant was somewhat busy, and I can certainly understand why.

    Chacarero (steak sandwich) - $15.95

We came for a late lunch on a Friday and was pleasantly surprised at how busy it was - the sign on the door said they closed at 2:30 for a while before opening for dinner again, but they remained open as people still came in after us. The restaurant itself it painted in dark blue so it feels a little dark inside although there are plenty of windows at the front. Interesting art on the walls and an open kitchen behind the bar. Service was friendly and we were given a bottle of water while we looked over the menu. We ordered the Chacarero ($15.95) which is a steak sandwich with fries or a salad, and the Choripan ($12.95), sausage on a bun with fries or salad. We both wanted fries because it was going to come with a chili garlic aioli, but when we got our food, we were told they did not have any more aioli :(. The steak was fine, a little chewy and a bit overcooked, but very flavourful. Served on a bun with sliced tomato, cold green beans and a hearty amount of mayo, it was an interesting combination. The chorizo was delicious - loved the flavour, the texture and the size was decent. Served on a toasted bun with a cup of diced tomato & onion, it was good. Needed a little something extra though - maybe some mayo or a sauce of some sort to give it a little more flavour. The fries were hot, crispy and had lots of paprika on them. Coke in glass bottles instead of fountain pop, which you don't always see. Overall, a decent lunch.

Very good dining experience. First, they got very nice waitress. Second their food taste fresh and delicious. We ordered fish tacos, empanadas and papas locals. I will definitely be there again because they have so many Latin America inspired food on the menu that I haven't tried yet.

The restaurant itself is quite small, which is not inherently an issue; however, on the evening we visited it was cold outside, and each time the door opened it noticeably affected the indoor temperature. Additionally, the décor felt somewhat rushed and unfinished, which detracted from the overall atmosphere. While the food was acceptable, it did not justify the wait or the overall experience.

If you plan to eat here for lunch, get there around opening at 11 because the place fills up fast. This little L-shaped eatery offers a huge menu filled with favourites like tortilla soup, a variety of tacos and enchiladas, along with desserts. The four of us ate with gusto and were pleased with everything we tried. In particular, the Tres Leches cake is outstanding, with a perfect texture, not too watery and not too sweet. Very like the cake I had eaten prior in a diner along the Texas-Mexico border. One of us was having a birthday, and he was presented with a complimentary piece while staff sang to him to a backdrop of canned birthday music. It was delightful. The staff was very pleasant.

The deal was for 10 bucks you got an arepa but the thing was less then a hockey puck in size. We chose two - the pulled pork, and the beef. The pulled pork definately packed more flavour. And it was just meat with the bun...no veggies or cheese. I really think if they were less cheap adding those things would have made it more satisfying. I also ordered the yucca fries which were excellent. They were perfectly cooked and plump and because they weren't on the special menu they were plentiful. They came with a mojito dip which was zippy and tasty. Service was nothing great. They barely came to service us and see how we are doing/ It is cute inside , but not comfortable for sitting. Although there were a lot of interesting things on the menu I doubt that my husband and I will be back. Based on the service and the skimpy portions it isn't really worth giving a second chance.

Boring AF is another way to put it. Drinks other than beer and 5oz wine start at $15, and are geared to the candy crowd. Totally turned off by repeated hard sell by the server, intrusive and annoying. Then she didn't remember who ordered what at our table of 4, did things like placing food on top of menus. Yet I should take your "recommendations" seriously? Take a hike! I chose not to eat, the upsell made me lose my appetite fast. Red flags are SO unappetizing. Others were not so lucky. Tacos (lamb/beef barbacoa) were boring and dry, served with pickled onions, jalapeños, cilantro, that's it. No salsas, not even cheap jarred stuff. Nastiest bs "churros" ever, check out the picture. Great comment made at the table, "is this cheese sauce? Maybe it's cinnamon? It's kinda watery..." Even my perpetually positive, sunny side friend commented that the food was overpriced and not very good. We not be back, total poser show. The food was delicious, I had the tacos and tried 3 different kinds, all were good. The tuna appetizer was so delicious! The cocktails are high quality and creative but in a tasty way! This restaurant went above and beyond my expectations for an experience of this kind. They even let my friends go in early before the surprise to decorate. They were all in on it. We got to bring a cake in and cut it there as well which was so nice because the cake my husband got was such a luxurious piece of art! I enjoyed eating it. I highly recommend this place and will absolutely be back for another night out of delicious food and quality cocktails. Great location right across from the arena but good idea to make reservations. Enjoy!
