I made an appointment earlier this week for 3 o'clock today. I arrived at the salon 5 minutes…read morebefore my scheduled appointment. I sat down for what I assumed would be a short wait; my hairdresser Gina was finishing the client she had in her chair. Once the client was finished, she fluffed her hair, engaged in small talk and took pictures for over five minutes. Okay, whatever... I wait some more. She goes off to put solution in another women's hair, while four other employees stand around chatting loudly. I'm still waiting, it's now 3:25. I ask a young man who works there if it's going to be much longer, he guides me into the chair and I wait. Some more. FINALLY Gina wonders over and starts to fluff my hair. Asks me if I've heard of Karatine treatments and as I am answering, someone behind me starts talking about nothing urgent, at which point Gina stops listening to me and starts talking to whomever was behind me. My patience is wearing thin. It is now 3:35 and I have not gotten anything even started. She looks at me blankly, as if to say, why did you stop talking and so I smile and start up again. Not 10 seconds later, a woman pops her head in the door and says something to Gina. Gina stops and says hold on a sec and goes into the portico. I can hear the conversation, it was a social call, and no, no one had died, and I'm sitting there getting angrier by the second. FIVE minutes later she comes back in. tells me that she has to put curlers in the other person's hair, but maybe she'll do mine first. She walks me to the sink, where she tells me to sit down and that she would just take care of the women and be back in a minute. I am incredulous. At 3:50, I get up and walk out. The young man who was supposed to wash my hair tells me politely that he's sorry and as I walk out calls over to Gina, whom I've just walked past and says, "the client's leaving, she doesn't want to wait". Gina, shrugs. She does not turn to me, she just goes back to the women's hair she's putting curlers in. I look at her and say 'the very least you can do, is call a client and tell her you're going to be an hour late, before she gets here". Gina just stared at me blankly. No... I'm sorry, no excuse, nothing. I'm still shaking my head at this. It's spring break, salons are booked like mad across the island this week. That place is empty and that's the way she treats the only other client in the place?? Incredible. Avoid this place like the plague. The service is worse than what I would imagine you'd find at Fantastic Sam's or Walmart. I was trying this place because someone knew someone who said it was great. Never, ever, ever again. I am so happy I didn't let her touch my hair, I can only imagine what the review would be like if she had. One other thing, there was NO parking anywhere near the place, the majority of spaces are reserved for the clinic or pharmacy in the same complex. I would imagine that on a Saturday, there's no way you'd get a space within a mile!

I have recommended his salon to my friends and colleagues most of whom became his customers. I have seen Vic take some extremely burnt and damaged hair and repair the hair to better than it was before the damage. The salon is calm and relaxing unlike so many other salons that operate in a panic. It is a joy to go to the salon to decompress and then to come out looking great and feeling great. This salon is a must-try!

I dont understand how you can treat your clients with such poor customer service!…read moreI've had been going there for a few months and there was a confusion when the receptionist took my last apt, so i showed up and obviously couldnt get my hair done because they scheduled me for the wrong week, so they started telling me it was disrespectful not to show up at apt, that i should be charged cancelation fees.... To later find out that a friend of the hairdresser needed her hair done for the same party i was going! WOW... Good luck to all of you you are certainly not worth a penny

I…read morealways wait until I am in Montreal so I can go to Salon Gamme and get my hair colored, styled and cut by the most professional, kind, experts I've ever encountered. On my last visit I got a balayage, toner, cut and style by the owner Malina who did such a phenomenal job on my hair that I can't stop staring at it 24/7. Just take a look at the photos I've attached for visual proof. The ladies at Gamme understand what it takes to make a salon experience fantastic - they take their time to get it right and make sure your hair stays healthy after the treatments so you stay looking fabulous between appointments. I can't say enough good things about this place... It is run but an ambitious, dedicated, inspiring lady boss (Malina) who has a hardcore loyal clientele (no wonder!) and is in my opinion a visionary and avant-garde leader for the Montreal hair scene. Four of my best friends now became regular Salon Gamme go-ers after they've seen how satisfied I've been with my hair and I'll keep raving about it because it's THAT worth it. Go to Salon Gamme!!

Wow, my last update for Two Horses was in 2015, that's kind of bonkers. I definitely have a lot…read moremore grey hair now then I did then, but I had an equally rad time and love my haircut so much. This was my first time visiting their new location over on St Hubert, and though it's a bit hectic to get there past the ongoing construction, the sidewalk is intact and the spot is totally lovely. There is a big bright clean welcoming tattoo area, and then a gorgeous room for haircuts and colour. The space is a great mix of vintage textile art, rocker tattoo design, mid-century modern furniture, vintage taxidermy and other bits of found art highlights, and gorgeous wallpaper and tiling. It really looks great in there and feels comfortable and cool. I had to wait about 20 minutes for my cut, but I was served a coffee with oatmilk which was delicious, and the non-binary friendly relaxed vibes were deeply nice to sink and soak in for a bit. The head massage and wash were wonderful - apparently they have some new chairs for the wash and these were definitely more comfortable than some others I've experienced. I had my ridiculously long wild witch hair cut by the kind and wise Christie, and it was such a pleasure to get to chat with her. Most importantly, I dug her advice for the cut and love how it turned out. It feels healthy and looks like me and I feel like I know how to take care of it without having to add a bunch of work to my life. Big big fan.
