Here's how it went Me: Do you take walk ins? Paul: Walk ins? Do I take walk ins? Of course I take walk ins. Me: Great. Is it cash only? Him: Wow. You got a lot of questions. Me: I only have two... Him: Cash is king! Me: Ok, I'll go to an ATM. Him: Hold your horses. There are nine people in front of you. You think you're just gonna sit down? Me: Oh, well never mind. Have a nice day. It was a slightly (and unnecessarily) abrasive interaction but whatever. Fast forward one hour and I'm walking across the street. Paul is standing in the window of an empty shop with a big grin on his face giving me a huge wave. Oh, great. He has a slot. We cross the street. Me: Can you take me? Paul: You? No, I can't take you. I have ten o'clock. Me: Then why did you wave me in? Paul: I was just waving. You ASSUMED I was waving you in just like you ASSUMED you could just walk in here! What a stupid bizarre interaction. I drove around the block, was greeted politely and offered a beverage, and got a far better haircut than the old men I saw walking out of Paul's.

Always a good conversation & cool music. The only drawback is that you need to book about 6 weeks in advance, as he is the only full time barber. This should attest to how in demand he is.
