La Baracca was such a delightful find! Every single thing we ordered--food and wine--was amazing. I'd definitely recommend starting with some appetizers; they were all so flavorful and really set the tone for the meal. Our server made the experience even better. They were incredibly attentive and gave us not only great food and wine recommendations but also some fantastic tips for our trip. I went with a group of girlfriends, and it was perfect for catching up and enjoying a relaxed evening. That said, the romantic decor and dim lighting make it an ideal spot for a date night, too. It has such a cozy, intimate vibe. And there was a neighborhood cat that wandered around the restaurant, adding a quirky charm, but it kept to itself, so no need to worry if you're not a cat person. We were craving Italian and decided to try La Baracca and wow their place is amazing. Service is great and restaurant is huge and has both indoor and outdoor sitting. I have been here 5 or 6 times and love it. Authentic Italian and neighborhoody type of place. Food is GREAT. I usually don't eat pasta out but I do here. The fettuccini with beef ragout and truffles is a-maze-balls and have also enjoyed the Chef's 3 pasta surprise (you can't pick)if you want some variety. Menu is handwritten in Italian with very funky lettering and hard to read but don't let that discourage you. Almost one of those places you want to not review so more people don't come - but then what is the point of Yelp. Summer seating outside is great. So, the food is still awesome! Service is still good. But the pizzas shrunk and lost some weight too! The fact that they're smaller now is OK, because I could never eat a whole pie anyway. But the price didn't get any smaller! And, the toppings got thinner. Less cheese, less meat, etc. That's a damn shame cause this generosity was one of the things that made the pizzas so delicious. But they're still good. I had one last night with prosciutto cotto, mushrooms and fresh rosemary and it was delicious but not as good as it used to be. More of a 3.5 star restaurant. In general, pretty good but not outstanding. Maybe it's because I went right after coming back from Tuscany but the pasta here is not al dente enough. The best dish was the burrata appetizer with prosciutto. We also ordered the octopus and fritto misto as appetizers and they were average. Pastas the best one was pappardelle with Ragu and truffles. All the others were subpar. I had high hopes for this restaurant since a ton of people told me how good it was. Unfortunately, the food just didn't hit that bar. Service was good though. A typical italian place in Kreis 4. The food is good and the staff is friendly. We went with 6 people (what is not a lot). we got a small table in front of the door. It was not a pleasant place because the waiters always had to pass our back. It was very annoying when the waiters always push you to pass. Most of the waiters speaks perfectly italian, a good thing if the menu is in italian and you don't speak a word italian. The food was very good, but very salty (3 out of 4 pizza's at our table was too salty). But still OK. The interior is very nice and kinda italian. But way to noisy. I only gave 3 stars because the whole experience was not that nice for me. Good food but crapy seats, noisy. And actually not the cheapest pizza in town. We found the place last minute and arrived very late around 9.15pm. Got lucky and were seated inside. The place itself is loud and feels authentic italian (our waiter hardly spoke German or Engilsh). We got served with the drinks very fast, but the four pizzas took over an hour... too long for us so late. The menu is only in italian Nevertheless they were kind and the pizza was amazing!! I see many full stars reviews for this place, but I don't really understand why.. We arrived there on a Sunday night around 9 pm and found (the last available) two seats, at a table next to another couple. The atmosphere was noisy and cheerful, it reminded me of Spanish bars. I didn't really like the tables, they seemed old and not quite cleaned. I understand that partially that's part of the point, partially it's more convenient like this, but still. The service was not great, we had to wait for quite some time, we then ordered drinks, and then waited for another ten-fifteen minutes for ordering the food. And oh my.. the menu. It was so hard to read, and almost impossible to understand. Again, there's quite some charm involved, but it shouldn't prevent people from actually being able to read what's written.. I got a Pizza Italia (or something like that), which was supposed to have tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. Instead, there was no basil on my pizza, but rather a lot of pesto with tons of garlic. I didn't really like it. The ingredients were baked together with the pizza probably since the beginning, so they lost the fresh texture characteristic to Italian pizzas. My boyfriend got a pizza with more types of cheese, his tasted better. Prices were spicy, we paid like 90 francs for 2 pizzas, 2 glasses of wine and one bottle of water. In search for a good pizza, I definitely recommend Don Leone over La Baracca! read more

I try not to give out too many five star awards, but this little gem deserves it in my book. I have visited this restaurant three times now since moving to ZH six months ago, and I will keep coming back. This restaurant does "authentic" better than I care to say I have seen. Its the food that makes this place amazing. On my last visit, I took part in a plate of fresh pasta with a bolognaise style sauce made with truffels. Fair to say I don't think I've ever eaten a finer pasta. If there were some drawbacks, I would have to say that the seating can be a little tight at time, some may say cozy ;) and expect to pay ZH prices. read more

Love it love it love it. Have been here twice, once for a white pizza and once for a tomato pizza... Both great. Ate outside the last time which was really nice but also suffered a bit from the cigarette smoke of the other tables...whatevs. Nothing like carcinogens to spoil your appetite ;) The crust is chewy and great, cheese is tasty, blah blah blah I do not even know what else to say besides make a reservation if you can. :) read more

Very small restaurant. The food is good and the service excellent! On the other side you have to share your small table with other guests as there is absolutely no space. The place is super loud and you have to shout to talk to your friends situated 20cm away. The menu is huge but written by hand and in italian only which makes it really difficult to read and understand. During summer the table outside would be a good solution The restaurant is also very pricy for italian food. read more
