Authentic Mexican Breakfast! We ordered menudo, very good! Huevos Rancheros, left nothing on my plate, a steak taco to try... so flavorful- like if it came from a Mexican cookout, and a pancake which was the finishing touch of sweetness after all that deliciousness. Did not need a to-go box! Service was super friendly and attentive. All smiles. Spoke with locals next to our table- also super friendly. All wondering what is Dallas folk coming to Port LaVaca for. Also, loved all the murals and art. read more

The food is salty and also the service is shity with all due respect.the food took long to come out and the server didn't do her job at all,my brother asked for a water and instead she went to sit down and got on her phone. Also there's no photos on your menu be cautious with what you order because you might get something you didn't expect. And also with the prices that they have, the food at McDonald is better than this.I do not recommend this restaurant at all. read more

I've never had service so bad in my life!! Every time I needed the waiter I had to go find her whether it was to order a refill or to get my food paid for. Once I did finally find her gave her the money to pay. I went back to my table and waited 10 minutes and she never came back. I got up and found her on her phone sitting in the back of the restaurant. Also, sidenote the food was tasteless, straight out of a can and microwaved. YUCK. there are way better Mexican restaurants in Port Lavaca read more

My husband and I dined in La Antigua tonight. We then asked for two to-go boxes for the leftovers. The waitress then charged us $0.80 on the bill. When we questioned this matter at the front desk, the lady said the rule was set by the owner and there's sign somewhere. Unfortunately, she couldn't show us where the sign was. I feel it doesn't make sense to pay 40 cents for one to-go box for dine in customers. I have been dined in so many restaurants but never encounter this kind of unreasonable charge. It's an unpleasant experience due to the overcharging to-go box issue at La Antiqua. read more

it was disgusting! it was flavorless Mexican food. they should be ashamed of what they are serving, not an ounce of authenticity even with seasonings. grated I think we should all ask, where was the seasonings? Taco Bell has more flavor. don't waste your money unless you like bland food. read more

La Antigua - I mean look at this monstrosity of a beautiful burrito in all its perfectionness and don't even get me started on the Big Red Margarita!! - Seafood Near Me - Port Lavaca, Texas

The hotel we were staying at told us about La Antigua and we are so glad she did. This is a local joint that everyone can enjoy! The dining room is big and open yet quiet so you don't have to yell! We got street tacos and carne asada tacos! The meat in both of these was so tender and flavorful. You don't even need salsa! Not sure we will ever be in Port Lavaca again but if you are here, GET IN and get you some tacos! read more

A port lavaca staple restaurant. Wide selection of menu items. Over the years I've tried a fair number of the options. These are our must orders: Appetizer: Seafood nachos: cheesey goodness on top of a bed of shrimp and the crispy nachos are the best! Shrimp cocktail: similar vibes to their salsa but is yummy, not quite enough shrimp and avocados in the cocktail but can always get more crackers. Entree: Fajita a la parrilla: meat and veggies comes on a sizzling pan with delicious coat of sauce. (2 tortillas included) The sizing of the portions is huge- we ordered appetizers and shared two 2 person portions for 9 people. One portion is good for two people at least. Order the fajitas a la mexicana if you don't want something with sauce. Other highlights: we also enjoy their endless salsa and chips and usually fill up on it before the food gets there. read more

We stopped in here on a trip from Corpus to Galveston. Great choice. The staff was so friendly from start to finish. The food was quick and fresh and cheap. The tea was great. I'm glad we stopped in here. I will be back on my next trip this way. We got the #6 lunch special and it was great. Only complaint was that the hot sauce had too much cumin for my taste!! But it was fresh and in a squeeze bottle which was awesome!! Chips were great, too!! read more

I love so many choices on their menu. The Pork Chops Ranchero, Parradia Fajitas, Enchiladas Plate & Margaritas!

Worst Mexican food I've ever had. Beef gravy on the enchiladas. Terrible chips and salsa. Awful service. Hidden fees. Party of six without being all different orders. Nothing edible. read more

Nope. Not sure how you mess up mexican food this bad. only thing worse than the food was the service or i should say lack of service

09/09/2023 at lunch time for a Togo order, I ordered the Fried Avocado (really good & fresh) with Fajitas Beef & cheese inside, a lot of side dishes which including , rice, refried bean, tortillas soup, tomato lettuce salad, and chicken soft taco all that is $16.99. read more

Service was terrible. Ordered queso and the waitress brought it out, lukewarm. We waited another 15 minutes for chips to eat it with and by that time it was cold and inedible. Fajitas with shrimp, made it to the table lukewarm also.. we had to ask for the tortillas, rice and beans once the fajitas made it to the table and that took another five minutes for her to bring. There was so much oil at the bottom of the skillet that you had to shake it off of the meat. read more

Server was rude. Food had no flavor and lukewarm. Mold on ceiling. Overall, poor experience and won't come back.

I usually enjoy this place, however I ordered something different this afternoon. I ordered beef fajitas quesadillas with rice & beans. Both side dishes tasted like they had been scorched. The quesadilla looked terrible, looked like a 3 year old cut it, the meat had no flavor & almost no grilled onion or cheese. I was truly disappointed. The servers did their job, but kitchen staff sure disappointed me. I Recommend the tortilla soup it comes with a chicken quesadilla. I've had it several times (mainly on cold days), and it was always delicious. Their fajitas & beef nachos have always been good. I'm hoping the kitchen staff was having issues that they will hopefully resolve. read more

The worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. I should have known when the queso came out and it looked and tasted just like melted chemical cheese. The fajita meat is very low quality. The beef looked like roast beef, and the chicken looked like shredded chicken. It tasted worse than it looked. My whole family left most of our food on the table. Plus the bill came with gratuity already added. Then they charge a 4% fee for using a credit card. read more

Food is ok, service is ok, owner is complete trash and has the audacity to charge a 4 percent charge for credit card. He doesn't disclose this until you are at the till to check out. Very nice restaurant with just enough seasoning, been too many restaurants that they made their dishes so salty and greasy. Food with a big portion so we ordered 2 appetizer and 3 dishes that was over enough to share with family of 6 (2 kids). Will definitely come again. read more

The best Mexican food in Port Lavaca, everything on the menu is amazing n the margaritas are wonderful too!

Just got to the table and waitress brought chips and salsa right away. The salsa is so fresh with cilantro and jalapenos. I could stand for it to be a little hotter but others in the group like it just like it is. We are three women out and about for the day in Port Lavaca, up from Rockport. We had no clue where to have lunch and saw LA Antiqua right on Hwy 35 and thought we would give it a try. We are so glad we did! The beef fajitas on the chalupa is very flavorful and tender. The shredded chicken enchilada was perfect with the gravy and white cheese melted on top! I usually eat a low carb diet but man, this is so good, I ate 2 days worth of carbs. The fajitas were full on authentic! I didn't touch the rice or beans and I ate the salad and beef fajitas off the top of the chalupa. What a pleasure! Hot, fresh off the grill and soooo tender! The other two ladies throughly enjoyed their meals, too! The portions are very generous and our plates were left about half full! Our waitress and the owner were attentive but not overbearing. Very good service! Smells good in here and the bathroom is clean. 5 stars! read more

Stopped through La Antigua to fix our craving for Tex Mex! Pros: We ordered the Beef Fajitas for two. We were pleasantly surprised by how deliciously tender the meat was! Couldn't stop eating it even after we filled our bellies. The salsa tasted freshly made and had just a touch of spice to it. Ordered the Mango Margarita and boy was it sweet. Pleasantly surprised by the marg. but be forewarned it comes in a glass bigger than your face. The service was wonderful. I've seen a few reviews about poor service but I find that hard to believe. Our servers (plural) were attentive and swift. Cons: We ordered the Queso and were very disappointed. The server came back and dropped off the "cheese dip" that we ordered and it was just that. Tasted like a block of cheddar cheese from the grocery store melted down. Yuck. I also didn't care for the refried beans. I know that not many people go to a Tex-Mex restaurant for the beans but I'm the outlier. Their beans were very bland. Overall positive experience read more

This is a seat yourself restaurant. Greeted quickly, and ask for our beverage order. Never saw the waitress at our table or our beverage order again. We did see her one other time in the dining room. Waited 20+ minutes before leaving. Management needs to implement a seating system that ensures guest are taken care of. Don't eat here unless you like being ignored. read more

I've been going here since I was little - in my opinion, it's the best Tex-Mex restaurant of many in Port Lavaca. First of all, the salsa is incomparable; I have yet to find another restaurant that makes salsa this good. It is is definitely too spicy for some people, but if you can tolerate heat, it's delicious. When I visit this little town, I often take some salsa to go when I leave. Also, the chips and salsa are complimentary, and they refill it for free. If I was only rating this restaurant based on their salsa, I'd give it five stars, no doubt. Maybe it's because I've tried so many things on their menu, but I know some items are on point and some others are complete misses. Cubed chicken can be dry in burritos and tacos. The shrimp is not fresh despite the oceanside location... After some trial and error, I believe that the fajitas are the best thing to get from the menu - I usually get beef. They never fail to impress. The sauce on the Fajitas a la parilla is so cheesy and delicious, and if you don't mind treating yourself to something heavier I absolutely recommend. The flour tortillas are housemade and super tasty. And for the most part, all of the fajitas are delicious. I often hear people recommend the fried avocados, but I have found that the amount of cheese inside is a bit much for me, and the meat inside can be dry as well, so due to the inconsistency, I tend to stay away from it. From the appetizers section, if you don't mind frozen shrimp, the shrimp cocktail has a good taste, and the seafood nachos are delicious albeit a bit greasy. The beef caldo is really tasty as well, but the vegetables and potatoes are cut a bit large. Depending on how long it's stewed, the beef can be tougher, but for the most part, if it's ordered during dinner, it's usually great. I grew up with this Mexican food, so I have a soft spot for this location, and almost every time I come back to this town, I have to visit La Antigua. read more

This place is legit!! The fajitas were stacked with meat and the beef stuffed avocado was delicious! The tortilla soup that came with the stuffed avocado was cheesy and delicious, my favorite menu item. Drinks were served in large cups and the service was great! Charro beans were just okay and bathroom was sketchy, but I would not hesitate to visit again! read more

The minute I walked in the bad smell was hard to handle. We started to turn around and leave. I wish we had. The fajita burrito was okay. But the queso was strange, maybe Velveda cheese. I am hoping we don't get food poisoning from there. Don't understand the high ratings. read more

We stopped in for dinner after a movie on a Thursday night. There seemed to be a big party dining in the back area but the front area was nearly empty. As a result, it took way too long to be acknowledged after we self seated ourselves (per a sign to do so) but I decided to overlook it. Once our waitress did come over the service quickly progressed. Chips and salsa were brought out and man did I like that salsa! Flavorful with a fresh cilantro and onion taste and a not so overwhelmingly spicy kick. I ordered the ground beef enchilada plate which was pretty straightforward and not extraordinary. All in all it was a cute little place with good Mexican food and I would probably be back. read more

My beef fajitas weren't the tender slices of meat you'd hope for. Presentation was good, but the meat was chewy. Service was excellent. The charro beans they brought out weren't over-the-top salty like so many places do, so that was good. The prices are decent...BUT as a value, you place quality against price and come up with "well, I guess that's ok..." It was OK. read more

Excellent service, food was great!! I had the fajita nachos, the guys had some enchiladas and the Mexican plate. Margaritas were great.

Ordered a simple chicken enchiladas meal. Was told 15 minutes and it was 25. The enchiladas were the only warm part of the meal. The rice and beans temperature were very disappointing. the chips as a side to the meal were 60% very small pieces that were thrown out. Apparently new chips were put out after the bottom went to a "to go order". For a person exploring Port Lavaca and trying a restaurant for me I was very disappointed if I could pull back my generous tip I would. read more

I was so excited to have authentic mexican after being in Seattle for so long. Sadly, this place misses the mark. Chips & salsa are ok but they don't have any spicy salsa. My snapper was a huge disappointment. It came covered in slop with a tiny piece of fish. Service is extremely slow. Seems like people who came in after us were served first because they knew the waitress. 40 minutes for food. 20 minutes to pick up dirty plates. No bag for leftovers read more

Visited this place, ordered a beef fajita, tripa taco, and a lemonade. The lemonade was water with sugar and had no lemon flavor to it ( I don't know how customers can drink this). The beef fajita looked like shredded brisket, and the tripa taco was soaked in grease. The waitress did not check us on often (it was not busy at all when I was there). The other waitresses and waiters were sitting at a table gossiping and making fun if customers. Needless to say I would not recommend this place at at least not from my experience. I'm not a local was traveling thru, but this was one of the worst experiences I've had by far. read more

Best Restaurant in Port Lavaca based on taste, portion size and value. Extensive menu. Delicious food. I have never had anything I didn't like. The fajitas are great. I love the chile rellenos.
