Delicious, beautiful, thoughtful, whole food prepared and served by passionate people. L'îlot is self described as a Micro-Resto: living food, Slow-Food, organic wines in a friendly setting.
We were walking down rue Saint Louis, Vieux-Lévis main street, and were greeted by Nadie on the sidewalk in front of L'îlot, a restaurant and an art gallery called art'chipel gallerie. Nadie told us about her food and her passion was apparent, then she sealed the deal by inviting us to eat in her peaceful back garden.
We sat at a small wooden table surrounded by flowering plants, herbs and vegetables listening to classical music, ahhhh. Nadie presented us with her menu while her mother brought us a carafe of cold natural water. We choose a vegetarian gluten free take on lasagna made with quinoa and pesto, on a bed of mashed sweet potatoes, topped with purple cabbage au gratin and accompanied by a fresh salad. We also had the Dahl and basmati rice.
Nadie joined her mother in the kitchen to prepare our food. Once delivered to the table it took us a few minutes to make the choice between just looking at the beautiful dishes or eating our lunch. We made the right decision, the food was delicious. The Dahl was very refined and delicate, made with small green lentils in a light and very tasty sauce. The rice was perfectly cooked and decorated with purple onion, cilantro, cucumber and sprouts. The lasagna was equally refined with delicate flavours and the cooked cabbage au gratin works extremely well together. The accompanying salad was fully flavoured with a delicate dressing.
After the meal we were both very satisfied from the delicious and healthy meals, and from the wonderful and friendly hospitality and the calming environment. read more
