My family and I were driving through on A6, and found this little restaurant nestled in the countryside in an old castle, Château de Châteauneuf.
The ambience was wonderful, near the idyllic castle walls, built on a hill overlooking the scenic French countryside. They had both indoor and outdoor seating, so we were able to enjoy our meals in the cool breeze, shaded by awnings that kept away the bright summer sun.
I got the Suprême de pintade façon, roasted breast of guinea fowl served with vegetables. The skin of the breast was crispy and beautifully browned, while keeping the meat moist, and flavorful. The vegetables were tender, and the sauce accompaniment, sort of like a brown country gravy (I'm an American from Texas) was a beautiful pairing. The sliced baguette that came with the meal was soft on the inside, with a perfectly chewy crust.
The service was wonderful, and the waitress was happy to accommodate a family of three Americans attempting to travel France without being able to speak French very well aside from a few words. She was friendly, cordial, and even anticipated my Dad's need for ketchup with his cheeseburger, haha
The ice cream after the meal hit the exact spot needed on a warm summer day.
Couldn't ask for a better experience from a random excursion we took on a whim.
